Swoon Thursday # 176 - Point of Retreat (Slammed #2) by Colleen Hoover

Swoon Thursday was first bought to us by YA Bound.
Since they are no longer with us, Naomi @ Naomi's Reading Palace has kindly created a central meet up point for those of us who wish to continue to share our swoons.
So ladies (and any gents who feel so inclined) please leave a comment below, and then head on over there to link up and spread the love.

My Swoon for this week comes from:

Point of Retreat
(Slammed #2)by
Colleen Hoover

First - The Blurb:

Layken and Will have managed to overcome the obstacles that threatened to destroy their love, proving that they are destined for one another. What they are about to learn, however, is that the things that have brought them together may be the very things that ruin their connection forever...

Layken is left second-guessing the relationship whilst Will is jumping over hurdles to prove his love for her. What the young lovers discover about themselves along this journey may change their entire world, and the lives of those who depend upon them the most...

Second - The Swoon:

She eventually lifts her head off my arm and slides on top of me, placing her hands on the back of my neck. She leans in and slowly parts my lips with hers. I become quickly consumed by the taste of her lips and the feel of her warm hands. I wrap my arms around her and run my fingers through her hair as I return her kiss. It's been so long since we've been alone together without the possibility of being interrupted. I hate being in this predicament, but I love being in this predicament. Her skin is so soft; her lips are perfect. it gets harder and harder to retreat.

If you stopped by on Tuesday, you will have seen that I am re-reading the first two books of this series before finally delving into the last one - This Girl.

Here are my earlier thoughts on Point of Retreat:

Point of Retreat follows on a year and a bit later from where Slammed left off, only this time, we are told the story from Will's POV.

Finally having overcome some of the hurdles set in Slammed, Will and Layken are in a relationship. However, due to foolish male reasoning, Will makes a mistake which leads to Layken questioning why they are actually together. Having to prove his love to her, we are once again sent on an emotional roller coaster ride, some of which is related using slam poetry.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

  1. Yep... I need to know what he did. Sounds like it was a great follow up to the first book. And that kiss... I can see why it's hard to pull away from her.

  2. Now that is one smoking hot kiss. Wonder if she will believe him in the end.
