Sweet Reunion
(Hope Falls #1)
by
Melanie Shawn

For Amanda Jacobs, dealing with the pain of losing her beloved Dad is the toughest thing she's ever gone through, and it comes with a lot of complications, as well - like taking over the family business, Mountain Ridge Outdoor Adventures. It makes her miss the simplicity of being a teenager, when she was surrounded by her amazing friends, The Fabulous Four, and she was madly in love with her Dad's right hand man, Justin Barnes. His sexy smiles and deep brown eyes had made her heart race in a way she's never felt before or since. When the Fabulous Four unexpectedly show up on her doorstep to support her through this complicated time, things seem to be looking up for Amanda. But that's not the only surprise visit in store for her...

Justin Barnes left Hope Falls ten years ago, in the dead of night, and didn't think he'd ever set foot there again. That was just fine with him, except for one little complication: Amanda Jacobs. He had fallen in love with her unruly blonde curls and sparkling sapphire eyes, but she had been a teenager then, five years younger than he - too young for him to act on his attraction. Still, he'd missed her every single day of those ten years. When Justin receives a phone call that his former mentor has passed away, he knows he has to return to Hope Falls. Justin just has one question - will the girl that once adored him have grown into a woman that can't stand him? Or will she still be the only thing in the world that feels like home?

Resisting the Bad Boy
 (Can't Resist #1)
by
Violet Duke

Abby Bartlett is the quintessential nice girl. Between teaching, volunteering, completing her PhD, and helping her best friend raise his daughter, Abby never gets the chance to be anything but nice. That is, until the all-wrong-for-her man she's only ever known from afar starts daring her to simply take that chance for herself. His sage advice? Try something wild and fast.

Preferably him.

An unbridled, hotshot attorney with a not-so-little black book, Connor Sullivan has earned himself quite the bad boy reputation. But in his defense, he's a very conscientious one. He knows far too well that sometimes in life, love isn't enough...or worse, not even a factor at all. To avoid that misery--and repel the drama--Connor always makes his one and only rule crystal clear right from the start. Absolutely nothing more than a month.

Turns out, a whole lot can happen in one month.

My Swoon for this week comes from:

A Little Combustible Chemistry
(Cactus Creek 0.5)
by
Violet Duke

First - The Blurb:

Man, oh man, was he in trouble...

If the girl-next-door-had an unpredictable, feisty twin sister, this woman would be her. Though she'd doused it quickly, a sizzling, ultra-feminine awareness had flared in her eyes in that brief moment they'd met his, along with a sweet blush she'd fought with adorably, stubborn defiance. Damn, she was cute. And intriguing. With that quiet, kitten gaze of hers still mulishly refusing to look his way again, she was drawing him in, hook, line, and sinker.

Holy Hefeweizen...

It was bad enough that the faint scent of one of her dark ales was lingering on his lips in that sexier-than-sin sort of way, but candying it atop steamy eyes and a gentlemanly sweet center to boot was just plain unfair. He was cowboy-in-the-city sexy with a laughing smile and all sorts of promised temptations radiating from him. And he always smelled like chocolate. With his scorching hot gaze, he was completely lethal to everything that kept her tame.

The night Luke and Dani met, they really should have gotten each other's last names. More importantly? Each other's occupations.

See how the chocolate vs. beer throwdown between chocolatier Luke Bradford and beer brewing beauty Dani Dobson gets started in this prequel novella to LOVE, CHOCOLATE, AND BEER.

Second - The Swoon:

An unexpected sigh of pleasure seeped out of her and instantly, his fingers flexed against her hips in response. It was the only warning she got. In one sultry swoop, he strapped a steel arm around her waist to pull her flush against him before he caught her jaw with his free hand and just exploded past all her defences with one slow, soft brush of his lips against hers.

This short Novella is the prequel to Love, Chocolate and Beer, the first full novel in the Cactus Creek series.

Born and raised in Cactus Creek in the local Brewpub, Dani knows everything there is to know about making and selling beer. Luke, new to town but not new to creating chocolate, moves in next door and opens up Desert Confections.
As soon as these two meet, sparks fly, both romantically, and on the business front.

Spurred on by Valentine's Day and the romance surrounding it, Dani and Luke embark on competition which pits beer against chocolate. Which one is bigger in bringing couples together on this romantic day?

A Little Combustible Chemistry is only an introduction to Dani and Luke's story. It's not meant to be read alone and I'm looking forward to continuing on with the next book and seeing how things pan out between them. Here's hoping for a HEA.

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Waiting on Wednesday # 60 ~ Never Tear Us Apart by Monica Murphy

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I’m waiting on:

Never Tear Us Apart
by
Monica Murphy

Expected publication: January 5th, 2016

Crazy how eight years can disappear in an instant. One look at Katie Watts, and I’m a fifteen-year-old again—the one who risked everything to save a terrified girl from her twisted kidnapper. She’s grown-up now—beautiful, quiet, composed—and telling her story to the world. A story that involves me in more ways than you can imagine. She used to call me her guardian angel. Sure, I risked my life, but she was worth dying for.

I need to make contact with her. Just to ensure that she’s safe.

Somehow we reconnect. We become friends . . . but I want more. I want to make her mine. And she wants me too. Does she know who I am? Has she figured me out? Not yet. But she will. In the meantime, I need to make sure that whatever hold that animal had on her is gone.

So, yeah, I’m stealing these moments with her. Savoring them. Knowing, dreading, that she’ll soon find out who I really am. And everything will fall apart. All because of that twisted, perverted monster sitting on death row. Her kidnapper. A convicted serial killer.

My father.

I've read a few books by Monica and loved each and every one of them.
I'm expecting this one to be equally as good.

Third Degree
by
Julie Cross

First - The Blurb:

I used to be “Isabel Jenkins, child prodigy.” As lame as that sounds, at least it was an identity. But now I’m not sure what I am. I just failed the most important exam of my life—the emotional readiness test required to get into a medical residency program—and it turns out my parents can’t stand each other. Now I’m trying to figure out how to pick up the pieces of my life, and that means re-enrolling as a college freshman, but this time I’m shutting the books and majoring in being eighteen.

But so far, my roommate hates me and I’m not into the party scene. The only good thing about school has been getting to know my insanely hot RA. Marshall Collins makes me wonder about everything I missed while I was growing up too fast. Pretty soon we’re hanging out constantly, but for the first time, I find myself wanting more than a no-strings-attached physical relationship. And the lesson I really need is one Marsh definitely can’t teach me: love. Because I’m going to be alone forever if I don’t learn fast.

Second - The Tease:

The second I absorb the feel of his lips on mine, it's like a giant knot inside me unwinds. I reach for his shirt, tangling my fingers in it, pulling him to me. Our lips part and his tongue is in my mouth. My eyelids flutter shut and I fall hard into this feeling. Two minutes ago I'd wanted to punch him,and now I can't get enough of the softness of his mouth, the strength of his arms around me, the scent of soap and deodorant, the annoying weight of our clothes between us.
Kelsey was so right - he's a gifted kisser. I should have tested the theory a long time ago.

I came across this one while browsing the eBook library and thought, yeah, this sounds interesting. Then I looked it up on Goodreads where I read a lot of very positive reviews.
Did it live up to them? Hell Yes! This was a great read.

Izzy is not your normal 18 year old. She is a girl genius - highly gifted and way ahead of her peers educationally. I liked her right from the start. She does have one fault though. Her social skills are extremely lacking. And... because of this, she doesn't quite make it into the medical residency program. Told that she needs to take a 'time-out' to experience 'normal' teenage life, she is forced to attend a local college. At first she struggles to make friends and fit in, but with the help of the resident RA, that slowly begins to change.

Marshall is not your typical bad boy, in fact, he's not a bad boy at all. However, as mentioned in the blurb, he is insanely hot. As soon as he meets Izzy, he notices that she is different. It doesn't faze him though. If anything, it intrigues him. And very soon, he wants to learn every thing he can about her.

As the two of them begin to grow close, Izzy discovers that Marshall has a secret. (I'm not going to tell you what that is because I don't want to spoil the intrigue). It does however, bring them a lot closer together.

I love the romance between these two. It starts slow and then builds with trust, understanding and total acceptance of each other. A beautiful story. One well worth your time.

My rating: 5 out of 5

This week for me its:

Unbreakable
(Forehead Kisses #1)
by
Abby Reynolds

From Bestselling Author, Abby Reynolds.

This is a stand alone novel. It is not a cliffhanger. And it is the first novel in the Forehead Kisses Series.

Can there be too many pieces to piece back together?

This is a question Keira faces every day. It’s impossible for her to go anywhere unaccompanied by her cousin, the only person who knows what happened on that horrific night a year ago. The guilt and pain weigh her down every day. Unwilling to open up to anyone and give someone a chance, she lives in solitude.

For her, that’s the only way to live.

Liam struggles with his own demons. After losing someone who means the world to him, he combats his anger and pain on a daily basis. He dives into violence and sex, losing himself more and more. But as soon as he meets Keira, he recognizes the same pain he suffers every day. And he pursues her, wanting to connect to someone who understands.

Keira can’t put herself back together, and neither can Liam. But can they do it together?
