My Swoon for this week comes from:

Until Friday Night
(The Field Party #1)

by
Abbi Glines

First - The Blurb:

To everyone who knows him, West Ashby has always been that guy: the cocky, popular, way-too-handsome-for-his-own-good football god who led Lawton High to the state championships. But while West may be Big Man on Campus on the outside, on the inside he’s battling the grief that comes with watching his father slowly die of cancer.

Two years ago, Maggie Carleton’s life fell apart when her father murdered her mother. And after she told the police what happened, she stopped speaking and hasn’t spoken since. Even the move to Lawton, Alabama, couldn’t draw Maggie back out. So she stayed quiet, keeping her sorrow and her fractured heart hidden away.

As West’s pain becomes too much to handle, he knows he needs to talk to someone about his father—so in the dark shadows of a post-game party, he opens up to the one girl who he knows won’t tell anyone else.

West expected that talking about his dad would bring some relief, or at least a flood of emotions he couldn’t control. But he never expected the quiet new girl to reply, to reveal a pain even deeper than his own—or for them to form a connection so strong that he couldn’t ever let her go…

Second - The Swoon:

My heart was pounding so loudly, I could hear it. My body was on fire, about to shatter into a beautiful oblivion.
I'd said I'd be whatever he needed. I'd do whatever he needed me to do.
I knew now I had been so very right.
He slowly lifted his head and gazed down at me. "I need you. No, I want you. Just you. I don't need or want anything else." When he opened his eyes, they were glassy, and I could see the emotion he was holding back.
"What do you want me to do," I asked.
"I need you too much. I want you so much. You're just... I just... You're the only thing that makes the pain go away, Maggie."

This was such a sweet tender moment, I just had to share it with you.

Many of you who visit my blog regularly will know what a huge fan I am of Abbi's work. She is an amazing writer who knows exactly how to capture her audience and keep their attention from the first page to the last.

Until Friday Night is a story told from both Maggie and West POV. Maggie has witnessed a terrible event, one which has cost her both her parents. Discovering that the only way she can cope with the tragedy is by not speaking, she renders herself mute.

West, on the outside, he seems fine, but on the inside, he's slowly dying. His father is terminally ill and there's not a damn thing he can do about it. Hiding the truth from his friends isn't easy, but he's managing, that is, until he meets Maggie. He doesn't know why, but for some reason, he finds that he can open up to her and share what he is going through.

Because of what she has suffered, Maggie sees beyond the façade West portrays and recognizes the pain he is in. Speaking for the first time in two years, she forms a connection with him which only the two of them understand. Able to share with each other what they can share with no one else, they begin to form a bond, a bond which slowly turns into love.

Until Friday Night is a highly emotional read filled with heart breaking moments. Definitely a tear jerker.

Waiting on Wednesday # 62 ~ Oblivion (Lux #1.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I’m waiting on:

Oblivion
(Lux #1.5)
by
Jennifer L. Armentrout

Expected publication: December 1st, 2015 by Entangled Teen

Experience the epic love story of OBSIDIAN as told by its hero, Daemon Black…

I knew the moment Katy Swartz moved in next door, there was going to be trouble. Lots of it.

And trouble’s the last thing I need, since I’m not exactly from around here. My people arrived on Earth from Lux, a planet thirteen billion light years away. Plus, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that humans can’t be trusted. We scare them. We can do things they only dream about, and honestly, we make them look weak as hell. ‘Cuz they are.

But Kat is getting to me in ways no one else has, and I can't stop myself from wanting her—or wanting to use my powers to protect her. She makes me weak, and I’m the strongest of our kind, tasked with protecting us all. So this one simple girl…she can mean the end for us. Because the Luxen have an even bigger enemy—the Arum, and I need to stay on my game.

Falling for Katy—a human—won't just place her in danger. It could get us all killed, and that’s one thing I’ll never let happen...

Whiskey Kisses
(3:AM Kisses #4)
by
Addison Moore

First - The Blurb:

Izzy Sawyer has always been the it girl. She believes she’s the last person on earth who deserves a happily ever after. Holt Edwards has always been the player that women voluntarily fall to their knees for. When it comes to love, Holt doesn’t believe in fairytale endings.

Once Izzy dives back into the dating pool, Holt is right there, ready and willing to offer tips and tricks to get her through an entire army of blind dates—starting with a bone-melting demonstration on how to deliver mouthwatering kisses.

One thing leads to whiskey and Izzy is starting to think happily ever after doesn’t seem like such a bad idea. Holt is starting to rethink his stance on fairytale endings.

But Izzy has a secret that has turned her world upside down. Holt has a secret of his own that cost him far more than he ever bargained for.

Sometimes life doesn’t give you the happily ever after. Sometimes it’s best to leave fairytale endings on the bookshelf where they belong.

Izzy can’t stop thinking about Holt.
Holt can’t seem to quit his favorite new addiction—Izzy.

The mercury is rising—secrets are percolating—and their lust for one another is just about to detonate.

Izzy needs just one more hit of Holt and his late night Whiskey kisses, but deep down she knows that will never be enough. She wants all of him—every bone-melting kiss he has to offer.
Izzy wants Holt
Holt worships Izzy.

Summer in Hollow Brook just heated up.
Sparks are flying.
Together Izzy and Holt are unstoppably electric.

Second - The Tease:

Izzy tastes like sugar, so achingly sweet I never want this moment to end. I wrap my arms around her waist and gently pull her closer without ever breaking our stride. Izzy delivers moan after moan, straight down my throat, and I return the favour with longer, stronger groans. Her hands find my waist. Her fingers ride up my shirt, carefully padding along my chest. Izzy moves in slow, easy strides as she explores the landscape. If this were any other girl, I would have long since returned the favour. I'd have both our clothes off, and I'd be ravaging her by now. But this isn't any other girl. This is Iz. And, if these are the baby steps she needs, I want to be right here to give them to her. In fact, I can stay on this step all night - all year if she wants.

This is the fourth in the 3:AM Kisses series by Addison Moore. I enjoyed the first three and this did not disappoint. A light hearted read, that once again, ended with no cliffhanger.

My rating: 4 out of 5

TBR Tuesday #124 ~ Game Changer (Playing Games #1) by Rene Folsom

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'TBR Tuesday'

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Game Changer
(Playing Games #1)
by Rene Folsom

Maci strives for one thing in life—anonymity. With her writing career in full bloom, all she wants is to work in peace while concealing her true identity from the public. Though readers love the science fiction worlds she creates, Maci knows that gender stereotypes could damage her career if she is exposed as a woman.

Liam is the envy of all gamers as the lead developer for nZone Studios. Over time, he builds walls around himself, keeping people at arm’s length who only gravitate to him for his material possessions rather than who he is as a person.

With thick barriers around their hearts and their past looming in the shadows, Liam and Maci challenge each other by slowly peeling away their protective layers and seeing each other for who they really are. It doesn’t take long after their chance meeting at a coffee shop for them to become one another’s game changer.
So now it's your turn.
Leave a comment and tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
