Okay, this will probably be my last post on The Mortal Instruments for a while. At least until Book 6 - City of Heavenly Fire is released.
In my usual order, I give you:-
The Blurb First:
The New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments continues—and so do the thrills and danger for Jace, Clary, and Simon.
What price is too high to pay, even for love? When Jace and Clary meet again, Clary is horrified to discover that the demon Lilith’s magic has bound her beloved Jace together with her evil brother Sebastian, and that Jace has become a servant of evil. The Clave is out to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. As Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle wheedle and bargain with Seelies, demons, and the merciless Iron Sisters to try to save Jace, Clary plays a dangerous game of her own. The price of losing is not just her own life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still trust him? Or is he truly lost?
Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series.
Second - My Thoughts:
Last week, I posted a swoon from City of Fallen Angels. However, at the time, I was only halfway through reading it so my thoughts were incomplete. Now that I have finally finished reading both Book 4 and Book 5, I will summarize my thoughts collectively.
This is an awesome series, no doubt about it. The story is absolutely intriguing. There are so many twists and turns leaving little time to get bored. I love all the different characters and the way they interact with each other. They're amazing!
Unfortunately for me though, 'Possessed-Jace' (City of Fallen Angels) and 'Submissive-Jace' (City of Lost Souls) didn't quite hit the spot. I liked his character better in the first three. I can only hope that in City of Heavenly Fire, all outstanding issues will be resolved and Jace will return to his former self.
My Ratings: 4.5 out of 5 for both
And third - My Tease:
"It's not your fault," she said. She kissed his cheek with the same tenderness he had showed her. She tasted salt---blood and tears. He still hadn't spoken, but she could feel the wild beat of his heart against her chest. His arms were tight around her, as if he never meant to let go. She kissed his cheekbone, his jaw, and finally his mouth, a light press of lips on lips.
There was none of the frenzy there had been in the nightclub. It was a kiss meant to give solace, to say everything there was no time to say. He kissed her back, hesitant at first, then with greater urgency, his hand stealing up into her hair, winding the tresses between his fingers. Their kisses deepened slowly, softly, the intensity growing between them as it always did, like a blaze that started with a single match and flared into wildfire.
This is one of the few scenes in the book where Jace is Jace, and it is undoubtedly, one of my favorite.
