Feature & Follow #83 ~ Coffee Mugs

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community. If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers. But you have to know, the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

This weeks question:

Post a photo of your favorite coffee mug (or mugs if you can’t choose just one).

Okay, so this is not my actual coffee mug but it is a very close resemblance to the one I most often use.
(Mine is a little lighter in color)

And to make this post a little more fun, here are a few unusual ones I found on the web.
The first kind of represent my kids.
They love puzzles and Lego.

This one is more me. I love coffee.

My Swoon for this week comes from:

The Redemption of Callie & Kayden
(The Coincidence #2)

by
Jessica Sorensen

First - The Blurb:

The dark secret Kayden has kept hidden for years is out. Worse, he's facing charges for battery. The only way he stands a chance against the charges is if Callie speaks up, something he'll never ask her to do.

Callie knows Kayden is going back to his dark place and desperately wants to save him. But saving him means admitting her secrets aloud. Callie and Kayden are stronger than they think, especially when they're together. Together they move forward, face their demons, and finally start to heal from their traumatic pasts.

Second - The Swoon(s):

A kiss from Callie's POV:

His warm breath feathers against my cheeks and his breathing quickens as his gaze flicks to my lips. "Callie, I..." He drifts toward me and then his mouth crushes urgently against mine. I instantly part my lips and allow his tongue to slip inside as I release a pent-up breath. I've missed this - him - more than I let myself admit. I need him. So much.

And another from Kayden's POV:

When our mouths unite, I can finally breathe again. It's like I've been drowning for the last month, only coming up for air when my lungs are about to burst. But her kiss has brought me to the surface.

"Kayden," she murmurs as she grips handfuls of my shirt. "Oh my God."

I slip my tongue inside her mouth and she opens her lips to let me in deeply. I devour her, realizing how starved I've felt over the past month.

The Redemption of Callie and Kayden is a direct follow on from The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden. And just like book 1, it is a intense and highly emotional read. Definitely not one for the faint hearted.

Teaser Tuesday #96 ~ Wild Cards by Simone Elkeles

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Tease for this week comes from:

Wild Cards

(Wild Cards #1)

by
Simone Elkeles

First - The Blurb:

After getting kicked out of boarding school, bad boy Derek Fitzpatrick has no choice but to live with his ditzy stepmother while his military dad is deployed. Things quickly go from bad to worse when he finds out she plans to move them back to her childhood home in Illinois. Derek’s counting the days before he can be on his own, and the last thing he needs is to get involved with someone else’s family drama.

Ashtyn Parker knows one thing for certain--people you care about leave without a backward glance. A football scholarship would finally give her the chance to leave. So she pours everything into winning a state championship, until her boyfriend and star quarterback betrays them all by joining their rival team. Ashtyn needs a new game plan, but it requires trusting Derek—someone she barely knows, someone born to break the rules. Is she willing to put her heart on the line to try and win it all?

Second - The Tease(rs):

Tease 1

Her gaze moves downward and her hand flies to her mouth as she giggles. "Oh my... Derek, your, umm..."

"Huge. I know. Stop staring at it or soon you'll be seein' how impressive it really gets." I gesture to her chest. "You cold, Sugar Pie?"

She crosses her arms on her chest when she realizes that I'm not the only one with body parts sticking out.

This was quite a fun scene. Ashtyn and Deklan are actually at a Trampoline Center called Jumpin Jacks and are wearing skintight Leotards.

Tease 2

He cups the back of my head and urges me to kiss him. When our lips meet, my insides get all tingly. He places little teasing kisses across my lips until I moan and want more... I want him to let go and stop trying to protect me from himself.

Wild Cards was a sweet read but seemed to end a little suddenly.

My Rating: 4 out of 5

TBR Tuesday #51 ~ Broken at Love by Lyla Payne

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'TBR Tuesday'

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Broken at Love
(Whitman University #1)

by
Lyla Payne

When a knee injury ends twenty-year-old Quinn Rowland’s pro tennis career, he’s not only dumped by his hot Russian girlfriend but ordered to attend college by his disinterested billionaire father. A rich kid who’s not used to being disappointed by life, Quinn and his sociopathic half-brother Sebastian create a frat house game intended to treat girls how they see them—as simple game pieces to be manipulated for their pleasure.

College sophomore Emilie Swanson knows Quinn’s reputation—after all, he did send one of her sorority sisters into therapy earlier in the semester—but the game and his charm bring them closer together and soon she starts to believe there’s more to Quinn than people think.

But what if the more is something darker than a game of toying with emotions and breaking hearts?

Quinn and Emilie might be falling for each other, but there are secrets he’s not ready to tell—and lifestyle changes he’s reluctant to make. She willingly stepped on the court, but if Emilie finds out she started out as nothing as a pawn in Quinn and Sebastian’s twisted game, she might never forgive him.

To his surprise, Quinn finds that he might finally care about someone more than he cares about himself…even if that means letting Emilie walk away for good.

Yeah, I'm not really sure why this one is still on my TBR pile.
Might need to bump it up the list.

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
Leave a comment and tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
