Here’s this week’s question:

Share your favorite literary quote!

I have many favorite literary quotes. Here are just a few (in no particular order).

"You smell good, too," said Patch

"It’s called a shower." I was staring straight ahead. When he didn’t answer, I turned sideways. "Soap. Shampoo. Hot water."

"Naked. I know the drill."

Katy: "My palms itched to have a close encounter of the bitch-slap kind with his face."

 *

Daemon: "In your dreams, Kitten. Oh wait, I'm already starring in those, aren't I?"

"If you wanted me to rip my clothes off, you should have just asked."

*

"Don't." Clary raised a warning hand. "I'm not really in the mood right now."
"That's got to be the first time a girl's ever said that to me," Jace mused."

The fabulous girls over at YA Bound created this super HOT meme.

Here's how it works. From the book you're currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag#YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog!

My Swoon for this week comes from

Pushing The Limits

by
Katie McGarry

First - The Blurb:

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.

Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

Second - My Swoon:

I eased my hand to her chin, lifting her face toward me. My thumb caressed her warm, smooth cheek. My heart beat faster. A ghost of that siren smile graced her lips as she tilted her head closer to mine, creating the undeniable pull of the sailor lost at sea to the beautiful goddess calling him home.

I kissed her lips. Soft, full, warm --- everything I'd fantasized it would be and more, so much more. Echo hesitantly pressed back, a curious question for which I had a response. I parted my lips and teased her bottom one, begging, praying, for permission. Her smooth hands inched up my neck and pulled at my hair, bringing me closer.

She opened her mouth, her tongue seductively touching mine, almost bringing me to my knees. Flames licked through me as our kiss deepened. Her hands massaged my scalp and neck, only stoking the heat of the fire.

Forgetting every rule I'd created for this moment, my hands wandered up her back, twining in hr hair, bringing her closer to me. I wanted Echo. I needed Echo.

Third - My Thoughts:

Okay, I'm going to  try and keep this brief due to my lengthy swoon.

Both Echo and Noah come from tortured backgrounds. Thrown together by they're psychologist who is trying to help them overcome their issues, they discover that life does not have to be all bad. That despite the terrors they have faced, and the situations they are current in, they still have chance at 'Normal'.

I really enjoyed this book. It flowed well and was an easy read. If you haven't read Pushing The Limits and you like YA Contemporary - then I recommend you give this book a go.

My Rating:  5 out of 5

This week's Tease comes from

Ethereal Fury
(Gemini Rising #1)

by
Jessica O'Gorek

First - The Blurb:

Mother Earth, wounded by the human race and its disregard for her resources, will recruit human souls to serve Her and turn against humanity. A rising force festers; Gemini, a clan of paranormal beings will systematically possess and destroy towns, cities, and states. Amidst the chaos, a forbidden relationship between Onyx, a lead Gemini, and Violette, a human, begins. They will both find themselves in the middle of a revolutionary war that will either save, or destroy our world.

Second - The Tease:

"I'm... prepared."

"Are you?" Suddenly, he leaned in close to her face, his lips three inches from her ear. She felt his breath caress the skin of her shoulder. He hovered there, as if he were silently asking for permission to proceed. His thumb and palm held still; the heat where her neck joined her shoulder was searing.

Violette looked away, down at the flickering candle, exposing her collarbone. No words would come to her. Her mind was racing. She couldn't settle on one thought. What should she say? Why was he having this effect on her? She always liked Slate, but this was more, much more.

Third - My Thoughts:

Before I reveal my thoughts, I would just like to thank Jessica for giving me the opportunity to read her book. It is unique and very well written.

Gemini Rising is definitely different from my usual paranormal reads which are most often centered around Vampires, Werewolves and Angels. As soon as I read the blurb, I was fascinated by the concept of the Gemini and was immediately interested to read this story. I must admit, I was also drawn in by the cover, which I believe Jessica designed herself. Great art work!

So how does it begin? In the prologue we are introduced to a human - Oliver, who due to selfishness and greed, has caused harm to Mother Earth (along with many others). Shortly after his introduction, he dies. Upon his death, he becomes a Gemini and is renamed - Onyx. Now a paranormal being, (kind of like a floating soul) he must serve Mother Earth in a whole new capacity.

In his new role, Onyx's mission is to help destroy the human race before they cause further damage to the planet. In the midst of carrying out his duty, he encounters a young girl - Violette - and does the unthinkable. He falls in love with her. (This is totally against the rules - Gemini are not allowed to form any kind of relationship with humans). As he grapples with his feelings, he begins to falter in his duties.

Violette - orphaned at an early age and living with nuns and priests, is both innocent and naive. Able to sense Onyx's presence, she is curious to learn more about him and what he is.

There are other intriguing characters in this story. Lilly, another Gemini who is assigned to help Onyx. Slate, a young man who lives at the orphanage with Violette and is her 'crush' (he is also the vessel through which Onyx communicates his feelings to Violette). Father  Darius and Bishop Phillips, who are aware of the Geminis' existence, and are plotting against them.

Overall, it is a complex read but it flows well. I really enjoyed this story. It was different and held my interest right to the end. If you are looking for something unique, then this might be the read for you. Can't wait for Book #2 - Gemini In Retrograde.

My Rating 5 out of 5
