Here’s this week’s question:

Give us a sneak! What are you reading? Tell us about a fun
or fail scene in your current read.

I am currently reading:

Death's Angel
(The Lost Angels)
by
Heather Killough-Walden

I'm close to the end of this book and I thought this was a fun scene.

"We'll probably be starving," Sophie ventured, her heart rate picking up. "So we'll need to eat. Or at least I will." As she said it, she thought of what exactly it was the Azrael would 'eat'. Lately, his diet had consisted mostly of her.

"I imagine you're probably right," he agreed too easily. His gaze slid from her eyes to her lips to her throat and the top button of her long-sleeved Henley shirt. She looked down, as if to see what he was looking at. But then she closed her eyes as he curled his finger beneath her chin to pull it back up and brushed his thumb across her cheekbone.

"Or..." she began, but had to stop when his thumb dropped to the pulse in her throat. She took a shaky breath and started again. "Or we could eat now instead. We could use the energy to get across the bridge," she finished in a rush. She opened her eyes.

Azrael cracked a grin, exposing the fully lengthened fangs that had been lying in wait behind his lips. "Now that sounds like a plan."

My Swoon for this week comes from

Death's Angel
(The Lost Angels Series)

by
Heather Killough-Walden

The Blurb:

Since the beginning of time, the archangels have longed to know true love. When four female angels were created for the four archangels, Michael, Gabriel, Uriel, and Azrael, a chaos spurred by jealousy erupted, and the archesses were secreted away to Earth. The four favored archangels followed, prompting a search that has lasted millennia.

As the Angel of Death, Azrael could never be like his brothers. While the others fell to Earth in human form, Azrael descended as a vampire. Today, as the lead singer of a popular rock band, he keeps his true nature hidden--a powerful darkness constantly at odds with his angelic self. Beneath his mask, Azrael holds onto the hope that he will one day find the archess who will complete him.

At his brother Gabriel's wedding, Azrael set his golden eyes on Sophie Bryce, the maid of honor. He is certain she is his destined mate, and will do anything to make her his. But Sophie is unaware of her archess identity, and is haunted by unspeakable demons of her own.

When supernatural forces emerge from the shadows, threatening Sophie, Azrael is the only one who can protect her. But to do it, he must reveal his true, savage self.

The Swoon:

I love you, she thought.

And then she was moving forward and standing on her tiptoes to shove her hand through his long, thick black hair and pull his lips to her own. It took no time at all - none passed - before Azrael was sliding his strong arm around her waist and using it to pull her body against his.

She melted into the tall, hard frame of him, at once enveloped in his warm darkness and his incredible surge of power. She gave herself up to it - to him - and let him take control for the second time that night. She had no choice.

His lips claimed hers in a way that chased the uncertainty from Sophie's mind like the sun on the fog. His grip on her was tight with desperation; his kiss was just as desperate. She caught the scent of leather and felt his hair brush her cheek as his tongue expertly, insistently, opened her up beneath him.

And just like that, once again, she was delirious.

As I am only half-way through this book I can't give a rating on this one just yet. However, I can say that I am still enthralled by this series and look forward to the release of Book 4.

Today's Tease comes from

Messenger's Angel
(The Lost Angels series)

The Blurb:

Since the beginning of time, the archangels have longed to know true love. When four female angels were created for the four archangels, Michael, Gabriel, Uriel and Azrael, a chaos spurned by jealousy erupted, and the archesses were secreted away to Earth. The four favored archangels followed, prompting a search that has lasted millenia

As the former Messenger Archangel, Gabriel has had lifetimes to search for the one woman intended for him. So he's surprised to discover Juliette Anderson in the dark corner of his favorite pub in Scotland, the land he's called home for two thousand years- and the last place he expected to find her. The connection between them is strong, hot and instantaneous.

Juliette is in the town to gather research for her doctoral thesis. She doesn't need a tall, gorgeous man with silver
eyes to distract her. Especially after he kisses her and calls her his archess. She figures he's crazy. Until she finds herself pursued by dangerous men, led by a fallen archangel with vampiric tendencies.

Now Juliette must turn to Gabriel for help - and unravel the truth behind her existence.

The Tease:

She inhaled quickly, as if readying for a dive, and then was crushed against his hard body as he trapped her beneath him and claimed her lips in a kiss.

Lightening struck somewhere nearby, followed closely by a peal of thunder that effectively overrode every other sound in the pub.

Reality took a back seat in the heat of the kiss; magic seared through her muscles and bones, boiling her blood in her veins and curling her toes in her shoes. Her hands found their way to the rock wall of his chest and she felt the bass-beat drumming of his heart as he devoured her and she melted beneath him. Time ceased to exist; she could almost hear it winding down and dying. Sound faded and her world tunneled until only she was left standing. She - and this stranger who was kissing her as if she was his wife and he had not seen her in a thousand years.

Stranger...

I'm really enjoying this series. It is well written, has plenty of action and a sufficient amount of romance.

My Rating for this one: 4 out of 5
