My Swoon for this week comes from:

The Ruby Circle
(Bloodlines #6)
by
Richelle Mead

First - The Blurb:

The epic conclusion to Richelle Mead's New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series is finally here...

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.

After their secret romance is exposed, Sydney and Adrian find themselves facing the wrath of both the Alchemists and the Moroi in this electrifying conclusion to Richelle Mead’s New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series. When the life of someone they both love is put on the line, Sydney risks everything to hunt down a deadly former nemesis. Meanwhile, Adrian becomes enmeshed in a puzzle that could hold the key to a shocking secret about spirit magic, a secret that could shake the entire Moroi world.

Second - The Swoon:

I pulled her to me, suddenly very aware of how little she was wearing and how gorgeous she looked - even after a close call with a squirrel. "Hey, you were braver than me. And look, you did it all without losing the towel."

Amusement lit Sydney's features as she let me draw her near. She patted the top of the towel, where it wrapped around her chest. "It's all in how you fold it," she said practically. "Do it the right way, and nothing will get it off."

"Challenge accepted," I murmured, bringing my lips down to hers.

She melted into me, warm and vibrant and smelling exquisitely of Sydney. I pressed her against the wall, bringing us closer together, and she wrapped a leg around my hip. I ran a hand over the smooth, perfect skin of her thigh, and it hit me that we were truly alone for the first time in a very long while.

I think you can guess what happened to the towel.

The Ruby Circle was a great ending to the Bloodlines series. I was kind of sorry to say goodbye to Adrian and Sydney, but at the same time, I liked how everything was neatly explained and that no loose ends were left behind. If you're into this series, don't miss out on this final installment. You won't be disappointed.

My rating: 5 out of 5

Waiting on Wednesday #30 ~ Two of Hearts by Christina Lee

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I’m waiting on:

Two of Hearts
by
Christina Lee

Expected publication: May 5th, 2015 by NAL Trade

A gripping standalone adult contemporary romance about finding yourself while taking a second chance at your first love…

Dakota Nakos was always the resilient, strong-willed achiever. But when her father dies and she’s entrusted with the family’s casino, she feels vulnerable, scared, and more than a little emotional —not exactly the best time to see an old lover she’s never really gotten over.

Dakota once meant the world to Shane Garrity. Then suddenly he left town to train as a U.S. Marshal, and their love for each other crashed into a memory. Now he’s come home for her father’s funeral, and one look at the girl he left behind stirs up both memories and regrets, and reignites a fire he feared he’d lost forever.

Dakota may be the same driven girl she always was, but she’s also changed in ways neither could have anticipated. She’s not just a young woman searching for own identity in the Native American community in which she was raised, but one questioning her new life outside her father’s shadow. Above all she wonders if Shane can push past her weakened defenses to rekindle what they once had, or whether the intense blaze between them will ultimately reduce her heart to ashes.

My Tease for this week comes from:

Four: A Divergent Collection
(Divergent 0.1-0.4)
by
Veronica Roth

First - The Blurb:

Fans of the Divergent series by No. 1 New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth will be thrilled by Four: A Divergent Collection, a companion volume that includes four pre-Divergent stories told from Tobias Eaton’s point of view. DIVERGENT – a major motion picture in 2014. Readers first encountered Tobias Eaton as "Four" in Divergent. His voice is an integral part of Allegiant. Readers will find more of this charismatic character's backstory told from his own perspective in Four: A Divergent Collection. When read together, these long narrative pieces illuminate the defining moments in Tobias Eaton's life. The first three pieces in this volume – "The Transfer," "The Initiate," and "The Son" – follow Tobias's transfer from Abnegation to Dauntless, his Dauntless initiation, and the first clues that a foul plan is brewing in the leadership of two factions. The fourth story, "The Traitor," runs parallel with the events of Divergent, giving readers a glimpse into the decisions of loyalty – and love – that Tobias makes in the weeks after he meets Tris Prior. Exclusive scenes included!

Second - The Tease:

My instincts were right: She is worth trusting. With my secrets, with my shame, with my name that I abandoned. With the beautiful truths and the awful ones. I know it.
I touch my lips to hers. Our eyes meet, and I grin, and kiss her again, this time more sure of it.
It's not enough. I pull her closer, kiss her harder. She comes alive, putting her arms around me and leaning into me and it's still not enough, how can it be?
...Four / Tobias

After recently seeing Insurgent (Which I thought was awesome and enjoyed maybe a little more than Divergent) I felt compelled to read Four / Tobias' story.

In 'The Transfer', we learn more of Tobias' history with his abusive father and how he arrived at the decision to leave Abnegation and join Dauntless. 'The Initiate' which follows, focuses largely on the first few weeks of Four's entry into Dauntless and the competition which develops between him and Eric for the top ranking position. Moving on to 'The Son', we see how Four begins to question everything going on around him. As he searches for the answers, he discovers that the factions are not as solid as everyone likes to think they are and that there is an uprising brewing. And finally, in 'The Traitor', we get to see Tobias' real thoughts regarding Tris and how his feelings for her begin to develop.

Although much of the content is not new, it was great getting inside Tobias' head and seeing the story from his POV.

Four is a great companion to the original Divergent series and definitely worth the time  it takes to read it.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

This week for me its:

A Thousand Pieces of You
(Firebird #1)
by
Claudia Gray

Every Day meets Cloud Atlas in this heart-racing, space- and time-bending, epic new trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray.

Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their radical scientific achievements. Their most astonishing invention: the Firebird, which allows users to jump into parallel universes, some vastly altered from our own. But when Marguerite’s father is murdered, the killer—her parent’s handsome and enigmatic assistant Paul—escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite can’t let the man who destroyed her family go free, and she races after Paul through different universes, where their lives entangle in increasingly familiar ways. With each encounter she begins to question Paul’s guilt—and her own heart. Soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is more sinister than she ever could have imagined.

A Thousand Pieces of You explores a reality where we witness the countless other lives we might lead in an amazingly intricate multiverse, and ask whether, amid infinite possibilities, one love can endure.
