Stacking the Shelves # 33

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks.

A little while back, I found these three on sale and I just had to add them to my shelf.

Here’s this week’s question:

What is your preferred reading format? Hardcover, eBooks, paperback etc?

I actually don't have a particular preferrence. Sometimes I prefer reading a paperback. Sometimes I prefer using my eReader. It really depends on my environment as to which I will choose.

If I'm out in the sun, (pool, beach, etc..) or in a well lit room, I would probably prefer paperback.

But if I'm in bed or where the light is not so good, then I usually read an eBook on my android phone which is backlit.

Here's how it works. From the book you're currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

My Swoon for this week comes from

Losing It

by
Cora Carmack

First - The Blurb:

Love. Romance. Sex. There's a first time for everything...

As far as Bliss Edwards can tell, she's the last virgin standing, certainly amongst her friends. And she's determined to deal with the 'problem' as quickly and simply as possible.

But her plan for a no-strings one night stand turns out to be anything but simple. Especially when she arrives for her first class and recognises her hot new British professor.

She'd left him naked in her bed just 8 hours earlier...

Second - My Swoon:

I'd barely processed his words before he'd pulled me up from the chair and covered my mouth with his own. His scent overwhelmed me--- citrus and leather and something else that made my mouth water. I was almost too shocked to react. I was acutely aware of the fact that he was kissing me in the middle of a bar, until he nipped at my bottom lip. Then I forgot about everything but him. My whole body shuddered, and my heart dropped toward my stomach like the force of gravity had doubled. My head was swimming, but I didn't care.

I opened my mouth, and immediately his tongue swept in, taking control. My hands clutched at his back, and in response, he pulled me closer. His kiss was slow and then fast, tender then punishing. We were pressed together so tightly that I could feel every plane of his body, but still I wanted to be closer. His hand slid up the back of my shirt---hot fingers pressed into my already overheated flesh. A moan escaped my mouth at the intimate contact.

Third - My Thoughts:

After reading several tempting teasers and the blurb of  Losing It, I knew this was a book I had to read. And I'm not sorry that I did. It was great!

Bliss is really easy to relate to. She's quirky, fun and a little freaky. Garrick is the sexy hot professor with whom she becomes enthralled. Although they both recognize that they should not be together while she is his student, the chemistry between them makes it difficult for them to ignore each other.

Bliss has two best friends, Kelsey and Cade. Cade has hidden feelings for Bliss, which when revealed, cause complications. I liked both Garrick and Cade, and at times, it was hard for me to decide which of them I wanted Bliss to end up with.

Cora writes well making it easy to follow the story.
I'm looking forward to reading Faking It (Book #2).

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Teaser Tuesday # 44 - Obsession

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week's Tease comes from

Obsession

by
Jennifer L. Armentrout

First - The Blurb:

This is a stand alone novel that is an adult spin-off
of the
Lux Series

He’s arrogant, domineering, and... To. Die. For.

Hunter is a ruthless killer. And the Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn’t chafe too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job. That is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before: protect a human from his mortal enemy.

Serena Cross didn’t believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into something... unnatural. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.

Hunter stirs Serena’s temper and her lust despite their differences. Soon he’s doing the unthinkable—breaking the rules he’s lived by, going against the government to keep Serena safe. But are the aliens and the government the biggest threats to Serena’s life… or is it Hunter?

Second - The Tease:

Are you done acting like a psychotic  cracked-out Muppet baby? he asked, and I could tell by the way his fingers spasmed around my wrists, he really wanted to shake me. "Or do you need a couple more moments to return to sanity? I have all day. And you actually feel kind of good under me, so take your time."

Yeah! I've never been good at leaving my teasers short. Here's a little more:

My eyes popped wide. I was under him, like really under him. Our bodies were touching in all the right areas one wanted them to touch when they were in bed. I shifted just a fraction of an inch, and his eyes narrowed. Something long and thick and hard pressed against my belly. A flush stole across my cheeks and swept down my neck. Alien or not, he was endowed like the small percentage of men who actually had something to brag about.

Third - My Thoughts:

Holey Moley! This book is HOT!!!! STEAMY!!!! And Definitely Adults Only!!!!

Being a fan of the Lux series, I was really looking forward to reading Obsession. I was not disappointed. Jennifer writes a great story. Her words just flow making it easy to picture characters and follow scenes.

After reading Obsession, have I switched sides? No!
Although Hunter is Sexy Hot, I'm still team Deamon. He's a little less rough around the edges and has a more refined use of the English language.

Would I recommend this to Lux fans? Yes! But only if you are aged 18+

My rating: 4.5 out of 5 (I enjoyed it but not quite as much as the original series with Katy and Daemon)

From The TBR Pile # 3

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'From The TBR Pile'. If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:

From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me, it's:

The Kissing Booth

by
Beth Reekles

Meet Rochelle Evans: pretty, popular--and never been kissed. Meet Noah Flynn: badass, volatile--and a total player. And also Elle's best friend's older brother...

When Elle decides to run a kissing booth for the school's Spring Carnival, she locks lips with Noah and her life is turned upside down. Her head says to keep away, but her heart wants to draw closer--this romance seems far from fairy tale and headed for heartbreak.

But will Elle get her happily ever after?

I bought this book a while back. Unfortunately due to a back log, it's taking a little while for it to make its way up to the top of the pile. Hoping to read it soon.

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
On your blog (and be sure to leave a link) tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
