Stacking the Shelves #69 ~ Bought and Borrowed

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s ReviewsIt is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks.

I missed posting an StS the last two weeks as I was busy with the kids (school holidays) and didn't get a chance to add anything to my shelf. Probably a good thing. However, this week with a little more time available, I managed to add four books... 2 from Amazon / 2 from the library.

Free from Amazon:

Derailed
(Clayton Falls #1)
by Alyssa Rose Ivy

Sovereign Hope
(Hope #1)
by Frankie Rose

Borrowed:

Shatter
(True Believers #4)
by Erin McCarthy

The Destiny of Violet and Luke
(The Coincidence #3)
by Jessica Sorensen

So... what did you add to your shelf this week?
I'd really like to know.

My Swoon for this week comes from:

Opposition
(Lux #5)

by
Jennifer L. Armentrout

First - The Blurb:

Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

Second - The Swoon(s):

Swoon 1
"Kat.” He uttered my name like it was some kind of prayer, and then he pressed a kiss against the skin behind my ear. “I broke every rule of my kind to heal you and keep you with me. I married you and burned down an entire city to keep you safe. I’ve killed for you. Did you think I’d forget what you mean to me? That anything in this world—in any world—would be stronger than my love for you?”

Swoon 2
Daemon lunged forward, and a second later, my back was flush against the wall and his mouth was on mine. The kiss... holy alien babies, the kiss was a raw combination of lust and possession. There was a taste of desperation and anger as our teeth clanged, but the hand against my cheek was so gentle, barely there, and all those emotions were in the kiss, but the love was far stronger than anything else.

Holy Alien Babies is right. What an amazing conclusion to a brilliant series. Loaded with action, romance, and Daemon's typical arrogant and witty comments, Opposition does not disappoint and keeps you enthralled from beginning to end.
If you're into this series then you definitely need to read the final book.

My rating: 5 out of 5

Waiting on Wednesday #4 ~ Summer by Nikita Rae

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I’m waiting on:

Summer

by
Nikita Rae

Expected publication: November 30th, 2014

Sadly, there is no cover available as yet.

Avery Patterson’s literally not the girl she used to be.

A past that haunted her for years turned out to be based on a lie. Her father was not an evil man. He loved Avery enough to die for her, and now she’s determined to live for him. She owes him that much, and so much more. Ever since she was fourteen, Avery’s been running and hiding from every challenge she’s faced with, but this time she’s determined not to run. She’s going to fight for the broken boy who not only helped to unveil the truth about her family’s past, but also showed her there was hope for the future.

The only problem is that winter is over. Spring is almost through, and Avery’s New York Cop has turned in his badge and taken up his guitar. It’s been three months without contact. Three months without a single word.

Where on earth is Lucas Reid?

It’s amazing how quickly your life can change. One minute you’re patrolling the streets in one of the world’s craziest cities, arresting felons, and the next you’re singing something you came up with in the shower to fifteen thousand people. It’s easy to forget what life was like before. Easy to blur out the events of a childhood that feels like it happened to someone else.
But it didn’t happen to someone else. It happened to him. Luke knows that in order to move forward with Avery, he needs to come clean. But how best to do that, when his demons are so dirty?

It’s easy to write a song. It’s easy to make a crowd chant your name. But finding the right words to tell a horrible truth?

Nothing’s ever been harder.

Summer is the second book in the Four Seasons series by Nikita Rae. I loved reading Winter - Avery and Lucas's story - and am looking forward to seeing what happens next.

A girl with a dark history…

Avery Bresllin took a leap of faith when she changed her name. As Avery Patterson, she is no longer the daughter of a serial killer. No longer the girl who was bullied and abused through high school. A fresh name and a fresh start at Columbia University means Avery can leave all that behind. There’s only one thing marring her dream of a clean slate….

A boy with a past of his own…

Luke Reid has a lot going for him: sex appeal, badass tattoos and insane musical talent. Despite his guitar skills, his calling in life has always been to serve and protect. A NYPD cop by day, singer in rock band D.M.F by night, from the outside Luke seems like he’s got it made. But falling for a girl whose father was accused of deeply sinister acts—a man whom Luke shared a devastating history with, himself—only serves to complicated things.

Pieces of a puzzle….

Four symbols, four methods of destruction.

A trade.

Borrowed wings.

Dark secrets that threaten to destroy.

My Tease for this week comes from:

Shadows
(Lux 0.5)

by
Jennifer L. Armentrout

First - The Blurb:

The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane.

Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.

Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in.

Captivated. Lured. Loved.

Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.

Second - The Tease:

"I want to kiss you." There was a pause and her heart soared, chest swelled. "Is that all right with you? he asked.

Was it? Oh, wow, yes it was. But she couldn't find the words. So she nodded. Before she could close her eyes, Dawson breached the minuscule space separating them and brought his mouth flush against hers.

He brushed his lips over hers, and she felt the velvety-soft touch all the way to the tips of her curled toes. Then his mouth moved over hers again, as if testing what she thought, waiting for her response. With her heart in her throat, she placed her hands on his shoulders and leaned in.

Well, I don't think I need to say too much about this one. Dawson is just as amazing as Daemon although probably not quite as cocky.

To see my thoughts on the final book of this amazing series...Opposition, please check back Thursday.

TBR Tuesday #66 ~ Starting Over (Starting Over #1) by Evan Grace

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'TBR Tuesday'

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Starting Over
(Starting Over #1)

by
Evan Grace

Bellamy Carmichael’s finally come home after staying away for six years. There’s just one problem, Luke Carter…

Six years ago she seduced him, but a realization had him turning his back on her and became the cause of her long exodus. But with her brother’s imminent deployment Bellamy knows she’s bound to see him.

Luke Carter made the mistake of crossing a line he never should’ve crossed six years ago…

He knows he’s the reason why Bellamy avoids home, and with her coming back home he’s hoping to make things right. He just wasn’t expecting her to look so damn beautiful.

However, there’s one more problem, Bellamy’s been keeping a secret from Luke for past six years. When passion builds between them she knows that she must tell Luke the truth, but will it bring them closer together?

Or will it drive them apart for good?

Note:Recommended for ages 17+ due to language and sexual content.

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!

Leave a comment and tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
