Book Boyfriend of the Week #10 ~ Travis from Beautiful Disaster Series by Jamie MeGuire

This is a meme created by Reading and Things for bloggers to talk about there book boyfriends and tease the readers with things they've said.

Want to participate?

Then all you have to do is:

1) Pick a book boyfriend, it can be from the book your currently reading or from one you've already read.
2) Write what kind of boyfriend he is, and if you want, say why you think that.
3) Pick a quote from his book, long or short, that proves he is the kind of boyfriend you said he is.
4) Make sure the quote, and the explanation DO NOT give away anything from the book (we want all of the twists and plot surprises to remain surprises).
5) Share it! And shout it out using the #Reading and Things.

My Book Boyfriend this week is:

Travis Maddox

He's a bad boy with a kind a heart.

Finally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster.

Can you love someone too much?

Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

My Tease:

"The way I feel about you . . . it’s crazy.”
“You got the crazy part right,” she snapped, pulling away from me.
“I practiced this in my head the whole time we were on the bike, so just hear me out.”
“Travis—”
“I know we’re f***ed-up, all right? I’m impulsive and hot tempered, and you get under my skin like no one else. You act like you hate me one minute, and then you need me the next. I never get anything right, and I don’t deserve you . . . but I f***ing love you, Abby. I love you more than I’ve loved anyone or anything, ever. When you’re around, I don’t need booze or money or the fighting or the one-night stands . . . all I need is you. You’re all I think about. You’re all I dream about. You’re all I want.”

I Love the way Travis pours his heart out in this scene.

Okay!

Yeah, I'm pretty slow with this series.
Guess I was kind of waiting until I had all the books before I began to read them.

My Swoon for this week comes from:

Nevermore
(Nevermore #1)

by
Kelly Creagh

First - The Blurb:

Cheerleader Isobel Lanley is horrified when she is paired with Varen Nethers for an English project, which is due—so unfair—on the day of the rival game. Cold and aloof, sardonic and sharp-tongued, Varen makes it clear he’d rather not have anything to do with her either. But when Isobel discovers strange writing in his journal, she can’t help but give this enigmatic boy with the piercing eyes another look.

Soon, Isobel finds herself making excuses to be with Varen. Steadily pulled away from her friends and her possessive boyfriend, Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into the dream world Varen has created through the pages of his notebook, a realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life.

As her world begins to unravel around her, Isobel discovers that dreams, like words, hold more power than she ever imagined, and that the most frightening realities are those of the mind. Now she must find a way to reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmares.

His life depends on it.

Second - The Swoon:

Her fingertips reached to trace the damage, but he grasped her hand with his own. he leaned down, far enough that the dark ends of his hair brushed feather-light against her face, caught in her lashes. She had just enough time to take in a breath, to blink, to part her lips before he took them with his own.

Time froze. Her heart ceased to beat. Her eyes fluttered shut.

The cool slip of the small metal loop pressed into  her skin as he kissed her. Urgent. Gentle. So slow.

Third - My Thoughts:

Nevermore is an interesting read. Right from the start, I was captivated by the two main characters, Isobel and Varen, and how they interact with each other.

Isobel is a cheerleader who doesn't let other people tell her what to do and isn't afraid to stand up to her friends when they behave abominably towards others who are different.

Varen is the dark goth boy who leads a secretive and mysterious life.

When the two of them are partnered together for an English assignment, they form an unlikely friendship, one which is frowned upon by her boyfriend (soon to be ex-boyfriend) and peers. As the story unfolds, it slowly moves out of the real world and into a parallel dimension, something, I was not expecting.

Kelly's writing is unique and very descriptive. There was a lot of depth and feeling to the story and I look froward to reading the sequel - Enshadowed.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

My Tease for this week comes from:

Twisted Perfection

(Perfection #1)

by
Abbi Glines

*** WARNING ***

THIS BOOK CONTAINS ADULT CONTENT
Definitely 18+

First - The Blurb:

My future was about to be completely thrown off track because Della Sloane was under my skin, and I had to have her. I couldn’t ignore it anymore . . . I’d gotten close enough to her to see deeper.

Della Sloane is not your average girl. Yearning to break free of her dark and sheltered past and the memories of the illness that claimed her mother, Della plans a solo road trip to experience real life on her own terms. But the trip is nearly cut short in the little beach town of Rosemary when she realizes she can’t even pump her own gas—until Woods Kerrington shows up, more than willing to help out a pretty girl in need.

Woods’s family wants him to settle down with a wealthy woman in pearls, but he can’t resist this carefree girl in cutoffs passing through town. A one-night stand should have been enough, but months later, Woods can’t get the irresistible Della out of his head.

When a twist of fate brings Della back to Woods, all signs point to trouble if they don’t keep their distance. Neither is truly free, and a relationship could destroy both of them. With their hearts on the line, Della thinks the safest bet is to walk away. But Woods isn’t about to let that happen . . .

Second - The Tease:

She pulled her bottom lip into her mouth and bit down. I wanted to taste that mouth.

I didn't walk around to my side. I'd get to that later. I crawled up in the truck and closed the door behind me before grabbing each side of her head and tilting it just right. My mouth covered hers and I let her taste slowly sink into me. Each small moan from her lips pounded through my veins. The fullness of her bottom lip as it moved against my mouth with inexperienced hunger was driving me mad.

Third - My Thoughts:

This was one steamy read right from the start.

Della, having lived a very sheltered life and suddenly free, decides to explore the real world. Embarking on a journey where she tries to find herself, she ends up in a small town where she meets Woods. After indulging in a one-night-stand, she moves on not realizing that the two of them have formed a connection.

Woods is your typical hot guy with everything going for him - or so it would seem. His life is not quite as picture perfect as the outside world thinks.

When destiny returns Della to Woods's little corner of the world, the spark which was ignited the first time around, leaps into full flame. Unable to keep away from each other, the romance between them blooms, but not without consequences.

If you like a read with many steamy scenes, then you can't go past this one.

My Rating: 4 out of 5
