Feature & Follow #82 ~ Guilty Pleasures NOT related to Books.

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community. If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers. But you have to know, the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

This weeks question:

What are your non-book guilty pleasures? Like TV shows, food, websites, hobbies, etc.

Ahhh! Guilty Pleasures.
I must confess, I have a few.

1. Chocolate
Yes, I have a real weakness for this indulgent food.

2. Arrow
I enjoy watching this series with my hubby.

3. Long walks in Dark Forests
I get a lot of my ideas for writing (whoops - I think this might be a little book related) when I'm walking.

My Swoon for this week comes from:

World After
(Penryn & the End of Days #2)

by
Susan Ee

First - The Blurb:

In this sequel to the bestselling fantasy thriller, Angelfall, the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what's left of the modern world.

When a group of people capture Penryn's sister Paige, thinking she's a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.

Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels' secret plans where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.

Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can't rejoin the angels, can't take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?

Second - The Swoon(s):

Swoon 1

He reaches out and grabs my arm. He drags me to him along the sand. My dress bunches up, more sand than fabric, but I don't care.
He pulls me into his arms and holds me tight.
He is the one pocket of warmth in a sea of ice. Being in his arms feels like the home I never had. He's still panting his laugh that rumbles through his chest. My chest moves with his making me smile.

Swoon 2

"Your world is so different from mine. Do you guys have anything in common with humans?"
He looks at me with those killer eyes in that perfect face over his Adonis body. "Nothing we'll admit to."
"There's no way around it, is there?" I ask. "We're mortal enemies and I should be trying to kill you and everyone like you."
He leans over, touches the tip of his forehead to mine, and closes his eyes. "Yes." His gentle breath caresses my lip as he says the word.
I close my eyes too, and try to focus on the warmth of his forehead resting on mine.

Unfortunately, there were not too many swoon worthy moments in the World After. However, I still enjoyed the story and am looking forward to reading Angelfall 3, which sadly, is not due for release until May 2015.

Teaser Tuesday #93 ~ Angelfall by Susan Ee

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Tease for this week comes from:

Angelfall

(Penryn and the End of Days #1)

by
Susan Ee

First - The Blurb:

It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where she'll risk everything to rescue her sister and he'll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

Second - The Tease:

I place my hand on his cheek. It's warm and pleasant. Maybe too pleasant. When his eyes don't open, I tentatively touch my lips to his.

At first, I get no response and I consider backing off.

Then, his kiss turns hungry.

I could stop here...

But you know that I won't.

It is not the gentle kiss of a couple on a first date, nor is it the kiss of a man driven by simple lust. He kisses me with the desperation of a dying man who believes the magic of eternal life is in this kiss. The ferocity of his grip around my waist and shoulders, the grinding pressure of his lips, has me off balance so that my thoughts whirl out of control.

My thoughts on Angelfall can be found HERE.

TBR Tuesday #48 ~ Angel In Chains by Nellie C. Lind

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'TBR Tuesday'
If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Angel In Chains
(Forever Yours #1)

by
Nellie C. Lind

The last thing Inez expected to find inside the cave that appeared from nowhere was a chained angel, but there he was. Tall, beautiful and making her heart beat like never before.

When Inez entered the cave Aledyan first thought that he was imagining her. He has been a warlock's prisoner for over two hundred years, but she could end his torments and set him free, if he played his cards right. Would he be able to go through with it? Would he be able to hurt her, knowing also that she was his one true love?

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
Leave a comment and tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
