Stacking the Shelves #87 & Weekly Wrap-Up

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s ReviewsIt is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks.

This week, I added the following books to my shelf.

Love, Chocolate, and Beer
(Cactus Creek #1)
by Violet Duke

Romance has met its most unlikely match-up…

Luke Bradford is a chocolatier on a mission. After moving his chocolate shop, and newly single life, to the quirky town of Cactus Creek, Luke wants nothing more than to devote all his energy into making his business a success—by taking the romance market by storm. But his grand plans get thrown for a loop when he locks horns with the feisty beer-brewing beauty next door who calls his ‘romantic idealism’ a load of fairytale bull. Soon, driving the woman sparking nuts becomes another wickedly fun priority he simply can’t get enough of.

In his defense, she’s addictively easy to incite…and plain impossible to resist.

Beloved local brewmaster Dani Dobson is beyond riled up. It’s bad enough the new shop owner in town comes locked and loaded with both a distractingly rugged charm and sexy flashing dimples, but the whole only-in-the-movies variety of romance he’s selling—the kind her world has been crushed by before—is really doing a number on her allergy to unrealistic clichés. What’s worse, he’s created an annoyingly clever ad campaign that dubs ‘beer joints’ like hers as the “cave where romance goes to hibernate.” The nerve of that man.

Combustible chemistry or not, damn it, this means war. The stakes…very likely, her heart.

And...

Fatal Exposure
(Desert Heat Book 1)
by Jamie Jeffries

Dylan made Alex’s heart race and her blood pound when they were in high school. Then her dad caught them naked in her room and sent Dylan packing. Dylan left town a few weeks later, saying he’d never be back. They’re about to learn you should never say never.

When they meet again four years later, over a mummified corpse in the blazing Arizona desert, what secrets is he carrying, and why does he have to look so damn good? Alex, now a college student and aspiring investigative journalist, can’t decide whether she’d like to find out what she missed all those years ago, or help put him behind bars.

Will she get the chance to make up her mind, before she's marked for murder herself?

My Swoon for this week comes from:

 Frostfire
(Kanin Chronicles #1)
by
Amanda Hocking

First - The Blurb:

Will she give up her dream to follow her heart?

Bryn Aven is determined to gain status amongst the Kanin, the most powerful of the hidden tribes. But as a half-blood, winning respect is a huge challenge. Bryn's almost-human community distrusts people, and those from other tribes are almost as suspect.
She has just one goal to get ahead: to join the elite guard protecting the Kanin royal family. And Bryn's vowed that nothing will stand in her way, not even a forbidden romance with her boss, Ridley Dresden.
But her plans are put on hold when fallen hero Konstantin starts acting dangerously. Bryn loved him once, but now he's kidnapping Kanin children - stealing them from hidden placements within human families. She's sent to help stop him, but will she lose her heart in the process?

Second - The Swoon:

"How would you know that if you never tried?" I asked, and then I was too nervous to even breathe, terrified of what might happen next.

For a second he only stared at me, and I wished I'd never said anything. I wished I'd left my parents' house five minutes sooner so I wouldn't even have seen him at all tonight, and I wouldn't be playing this stupid game where I pretend that we like each other or that we could ever be together. Because I know we can't, and he knows we can't, so it's better if he just walks away. If he just turns around and leaves me here alone, but my heart is thudding painfully in my chest, begging him to kiss me.

And just when I'm certain he won't, and I'm about to turn and hurry away in shame, he's there. His lips are cold, pressing hungrily against mine. His fingers knotting in my hair, pulling me to him. His stubble scrapes against my lips and cheeks, but I don't mind. I like it. I love everything about him that feels so real, touching me, holding me.

Bryn and Ridley dance around this moment for so long that I began to wonder if it would ever happen. Three quarters through the book and it finally did. Yay!

I had plans to wait with this series until all three books were released. Unfortunately though, I'm not always a very patient person, and after eyeing it sitting on my shelf for several weeks, I couldn't resist it any longer.

Was it worth the read? For me, most definitely. I really enjoyed the original Trylle Trilogy by Amanda, and this one is shaping up to be equally as good. I must warn though, that it does end on a unfinished note, and if you aren't into cliffhangers, it might be best to wait until all three books are available.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Waiting on Wednesday #22 ~ Nowhere But Here (Thunder Road #1) by Katie McGarry

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I’m waiting on:

Nowhere But Here
(Thunder Road #1)
by Katie McGarry

Expected publication: June 4th 2015 by MIRA Ink

An unforgettable new series from acclaimed author Katie McGarry about taking risks, opening your heart and ending up in a place you never imagined possible.

Seventeen-year-old Emily likes her life the way it is: doting parents, good friends, good school in a safe neighborhood. Sure, she's curious about her biological father—the one who chose life in a motorcycle club, the Reign of Terror, over being a parent—but that doesn't mean she wants to be a part of his world. But when a reluctant visit turns to an extended summer vacation among relatives she never knew she had, one thing becomes clear: nothing is what it seems. Not the club, not her secret-keeping father and not Oz, a guy with suck-me-in blue eyes who can help her understand them both.

Oz wants one thing: to join the Reign of Terror. They're the good guys. They protect people. They're…family. And while Emily—the gorgeous and sheltered daughter of the club's most respected member—is in town, he's gonna prove it to her. So when her father asks him to keep her safe from a rival club with a score to settle, Oz knows it's his shot at his dream. What he doesn't count on is that Emily just might turn that dream upside down.

No one wants them to be together. But sometimes the right person is the one you least expect, and the road you fear the most is the one that leads you home.

My Tease for this week comes from:

All Broke Down
(Rusk University #2)
by
Cora Carmack

First - The Blurb:

In this second book in New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cora Carmack s New Adult, Texas-set Rusk University series, which began with All Lined Up, a young woman discovers that you can't only fight for what you believe in... sometimes you have to fight for what you love.

Dylan fights for lost causes. Probably because she used to be one.

Environmental issues, civil rights, corrupt corporations, and politicians you name it, she's probably been involved in a protest. When her latest cause lands her in jail overnight, she meets Silas Moore. He's in for a different kind of fighting. And though he's arrogant and infuriating, she can't help being fascinated with him. Yet another lost cause.

Football and trouble are the only things that have ever come naturally to Silas. And it's trouble that lands him in a cell next to do-gooder Dylan. He's met girls like her before fixers, he calls them, desperate to heal the damage and make him into their ideal boyfriend. But he doesn't think he's broken, and he definitely doesn't need a girlfriend trying to change him. Until, that is, his anger issues and rash decisions threaten the only thing he really cares about: his spot on the Rusk University football team. Dylan might just be the perfect girl to help.

Because Silas Moore needs some fixing after all.

Second - The Tease(rs):

Tease 1
“I will never be able to turn this girl down. Whatever she wants from me, it’s hers. No matter what she asks for, I’ll find a way to give it to her. She may not be mine, but somewhere along the way, I ended up hers.”
... Silas

Tease 2
“He blocks out the sun, and maybe it’s the pain or maybe it’s just him, but it feels like one of those rare total eclipses where you know you’re not supposed to look because it can destroy your eyes or something, but it’s so incredible that you can’t help it.”
... Dylan

I first met Silas in All Lined Up (the first book in the Rusk University series). He came across as a bit of a jerk, someone who didn't seem to think too much before he acted.

In All broke Down, he starts off in a similar way. Fortunately though, as the story progresses and his relationship with Dylan develops and grows, he begins to change and reveals a sweeter, softer side of himself. And you can't help but to like him.

All Broke Down is written from both Dylan and Silas's POV making it an easy and enjoyable read. Definitely one for the TBR pile if you like Cora's work.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

TBR Tuesday #84 ~ Fallen Crest High (Fallen Crest High #1) by Tijan

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'TBR Tuesday'

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Fallen Crest High
(Fallen Crest High #1)
by Tijan

Mason and Logan Kade are two brothers who did their own thing. They were rich and expected to attend her school, Fallen Crest Academy. They chose public school and now Samantha has to live with them. The problem is that she doesn't care at all: about them, about her friends, about her cheating boyfriend, or even about her parent's divorce. But maybe that's a good thing. Maybe change is a good thing.

This book contains adult/mature young adult situations.

This book has quite a few different covers. My copy has the cover on the right, but I also like the cover on the left.

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!

Leave a comment and tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
