Stacking the Shelves #127

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s ReviewsIt is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks.

Books I added to my shelf this week:

Throttled
(Wild Riders #1)
by
Elizabeth Lee

Reid Travers knows how to win. Becoming Motocross royalty was always the plan, and he was willing to make sacrifices along the way to reach his goal. Sacrifices he thought he could live with until he returned to the small town where he grew up and learned to ride, and, more importantly, where he fell in love.

When fate sends Nora Bennett back into his life, he takes one look at her and realizes that he made a huge mistake breaking up with her seven years ago. Now, he'll do whatever it takes to win her back. As Reid sets out to earn her forgiveness and convince her that the guy she's dating is not the one for her, Nora finds herself torn between what her head is telling her and what her heart wants.

It's a race he never expected to be in, for a girl he can't stand to lose again.

I saw this one mentioned on Readers Live A Thousand Lives and thought it sounded interesting. Thanks Teresa for sharing it.

So... what goodies did you add to your shelf this week?

My Swoon for this week comes from:

Unbreakable
(Forehead Kisses #1)
by
Abby Reynolds

First - The Blurb:

This is a stand alone novel. It is not a cliffhanger. And it is the first novel in the Forehead Kisses Series.

Can there be too many pieces to piece back together?

This is a question Keira faces every day. It’s impossible for her to go anywhere unaccompanied by her cousin, the only person who knows what happened on that horrific night a year ago. The guilt and pain weigh her down every day. Unwilling to open up to anyone and give someone a chance, she lives in solitude.

For her, that’s the only way to live.

Liam struggles with his own demons. After losing someone who means the world to him, he combats his anger and pain on a daily basis. He dives into violence and sex, losing himself more and more. But as soon as he meets Keira, he recognizes the same pain he suffers every day. And he pursues her, wanting to connect to someone who understands.

Keira can’t put herself back together, and neither can Liam. But can they do it together?

Second - The Swoon:

My hand moved to his hip, needing something to grip for balance. His words made my skin prickle. My mouth felt hot. I wanted something more than I'd been giving him. I wanted to feel his lips against mine. Unable to speak, I nodded.
"You have to tell me," he whispered. "I don't want to misread you."
I swallowed the lump in my throat. "I want you to kiss me."
His fingers dug into my hips as he pressed his mouth to mine. As soon as our lips touched, I quivered beneath him, feeling the fire radiate everywhere.

Keira and Liam have both experienced some horrible things in their past lives and neither one of them is able to find a way past it... that is... until they meet each other. Immediately feeling connected to Keira because of the hurt and pain he sees in her eyes, Liam begins to pursue her, but he knows he has to take things slow. And eventually, his patience pays off.

Keira has been severely hurt, not just emotionally, but physically too. As a result, she has built a wall around herself, and the only one she lets inside, is her cousin, Scotty. When she first meets Liam, she is reluctant to let him get close, but slowly, with Scotty's encouragement, the wall begins to crumble.

Unbreakable is told from both Keira and Liam's POV making it easy to follow the progression of their story.

Waiting on Wednesday # 71 ~ On the Edge of Gone by Corinne Duyvis

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I'm waiting on:

On the Edge of Gone
by
Corinne Duyvis

Expected publication: March 8th, 2016

January 29, 2035. That’s the day the comet is scheduled to hit—the big one.

Denise and her mother and sister, Iris, have been assigned to a temporary shelter outside their hometown of Amsterdam to wait out the blast, but Iris is nowhere to be found, and at the rate Denise’s drug-addicted mother is going, they’ll never reach the shelter in time.

A last-minute meeting leads them to something better than a temporary shelter: a generation ship, scheduled to leave Earth behind to colonize new worlds after the comet hits. But everyone on the ship has been chosen because of their usefulness. Denise is autistic and fears that she’ll never be allowed to stay. Can she obtain a spot before the ship takes flight? What about her mother and sister?

When the future of the human race is at stake, whose lives matter most?

Last to Know
(Willow Creek #1)
by
Micalea Smeltzer

First - The Blurb:

He was just a boy.
And I was just a girl.
But if that’s all there was to the story it wouldn’t be very interesting, would it?

Up and coming band Willow Creek is back in their hometown for the summer. For the drummer, Maddox Wade, this summer was meant for writing music and playing gigs.

Falling in love was not part of the plan.

One look at Emma Burke and those plans cease to matter.

Emma is quiet and guarded. She’s still hurt from her father walking out two years ago. She doesn’t want to trust Maddox, but with his dark hair, smoldering good looks, and infectious smile he’s impossible to resist.

Together Maddox and Emma embark on an unforgettable summer of adventures and first love.
Everything is perfect…or so Emma thinks.

There are things she doesn’t know, and when she finds out the truth it might shatter everything she’s built with Maddox.

No one said love was easy, and for Maddox and Emma it just might be impossible.

Second - The Tease:

Tease 1
His eyes darkened with a promise. "Just so you know, I don't regret kissing you, and one day you're going to ask me to, and I'm going to kiss you until you forget who you are."
...Maddox

Tease 2
It didn't seem possible that one person could create a hurricane of emotions inside you, but Maddox did that to me. He'd stirred up the calm waters my life had been and now everything was a chaotic storm. And I loved every minute of it.
...Emma

For the most part, I enjoyed reading Maddox and Emma's story. It was quick and easy and not too intensely emotional.

My rating: 4 out of 5

TBR Tuesday #133 ~ Fever (Songbird #1) by Melissa Pearl

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'TBR Tuesday'

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Fever
(Songbird #1)
by
Melissa Pearl

Singing in the shower takes on a whole new meaning in Melissa Pearl's first New Adult Contemporary Romance.

Ella Simmons does not want to move across the country. But she is, because her boyfriend has persuaded her to join him at UChicago to finish out her college education. Never able to tell him no, she hops on a plane and makes the trek from LA expecting to adjust to life like she's often forced to, but things are not that simple when she hears a luscious voice singing over her shower wall. His deep, sexy tenor makes her weak in the knees, spreading fire through her limbs and making her question everything about her life and relationship.

Can one voice really have that much of an impact?

Cole Reynolds is on his way out. In his final year at UChicago, the only thing he wants to do is finish school and get on with his life. But the sweet voice that interrupts his morning shower turns his world upside down. Compelled to find his shower songbird, he begins a search across campus. The only thing to distract him from this goal is his roommate's gorgeous girlfriend who's just arrived from LA - Ella Simmons.

Relationships are put to the ultimate test as future dreams are questioned and friendships are thrown on the line for love.
