My Swoon for this week comes from:

Consumed
(MMA Romance #1)

by
Alycia Taylor

First - The Blurb:

I got a late start signing up for college and now all the dorms were filled. So I looked in the most logical spot for a place to stay, the newspaper. After finding an apartment with a guy that was supposedly an MMA fighter and only walking distance to the college, I sent first month's rent payment.

He seemed nice on the phone but when I showed up and knocked on the door I learned that I broke his number one rule, don't ever interrupt his "business". Will I be able to ignore the most popular guy on campus constantly hitting on me or will I give in and find that he's something more?

Second - The Swoon:

When I reached her I wrapped my arm around her waist, pulled her against me and crushed her lips with mine. She was tense at first, but I swear she loosened up after a few seconds. I finally knew what the phrase "reckless abandon" meant. I was risking a knee to the groin, or a slap to the face. But my groin was covered and my face was already bruised and bloody. Most of all, I just didn't care because I realized as I tasted her sweet lips that I had never worked harder for a kiss. I don't know if the knowledge of that was what caused the fireworks to explode in my head, or if it just tasted that f***ing good.

Braxton is hot, loaded with muscles and all kinds of cocky.
Emmi is a sweet girl who is cautious when it comes to guys like Braxton. An unlikely match, but when they are thrown together, anything can happen.

When I picked up this book from Amazon, I didn't do my usual research before hand so I was unaware that this short Novella was just a small taste of the start of Braxton and Emmi's story.

However, although it's only the beginning, I did enjoy it and so it looks like I'll be heading back to Amazon for the next installment... Devoured.

My Rating: Since this story is only in it's infancy, I shall reserve offering my rating until a later date.

Waiting on Wednesday #5 ~ Until the End (Sea Breeze #9) by Abbi Glines

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I’m waiting on:

Until the End
(Sea Breeze #9)

by
Abbi Glines

Expected publication date: October 28th, 2014

The backstory that fans have been clamoring for—how Rock and Trisha fell in love—is the final installment in the Sea Breeze series from New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines. And don’t miss the sizzling Epilogue, where Abbi wraps up all the Sea Breeze couples’ stories!

Trisha Corbin always knew how to hide a bruise. With her momma’s boyfriends unable to keep their hands off of her, she had no choice. And as long as it meant the guys wouldn’t go near her little brother, Krit, it was worth it. But her days of dreaming that Prince Charming would ever come rescue her are far, far in the past.

Rock Taylor always had a plan. Through football, he would rise above the life he was born into. A full ride to play for a major college team was within his reach—assuming he didn’t let anything get in his way. But scoring a date with the hottest girl in Sea Breeze was proving harder than expected. Trisha Corbin was every man’s walking fantasy, and she wouldn’t even glance his way.

When Rock finally does get Trisha in his truck, it isn’t for a date. It’s because he picks her up on the side of the road, beaten and bruised and walking to the local hospital. Before Rock knows it, football is no longer his life. Trisha Corbin is. And he’ll do anything to save her. And keep her.

In addition to Rock and Trisha’s love story, this special novel contains the wrap-up stories of all your favorite Sea Breeze couples: Sadie and Jax, Marcus and Low, Cage and Eva, Preston and Amanda, Jess and Jason, Krit and Blythe, and Dewayne and Sienna.

I'm really enjoying this series and look forward to reading Rock and Trisha's story.

My Tease for this week comes from:

Winter Angel
(Seasons of Change #2)

by
Mia Hoddell

First - The Blurb:

She was on holiday. He was tricked into returning.
Neither of them wanted to be there, but neither could avoid it.

Amy wants to be back under the sun in Portugal. However, when her suggestion is overruled in favour of a skiing holiday, even she can’t turn it down. What she couldn’t have predicted is that the holiday could make her break the one, and only, rule she has: not to get into a serious relationship again.

When Amy first sees Luke, she knows something is wrong. He’s struggling to cope with everything and her need to help people makes him the perfect distraction from the cold. He hasn’t been to the Alps in five years and he swore to never ski again. But as his defences are broken by Amy’s persistence, the winter paradise begins to reawaken his desires.

However, with constant flashbacks triggering his anxiety, he’s torn, battling conflicting emotions as he becomes increasingly captivated by Amy. She has a rule though. She didn’t go on holiday to fall for someone and the last thing she needs is to ignore her own advice. Whether or not she can move past her insecurities will depend on whether Luke can face his biggest fear.

Winter Angel is a standalone novella, but is the second book in the Seasons of Change series.

Second - The Teaser:

Tilting her head and wrapping her arms  around his waist, she was consumed by Luke. His musky cologne filled the air, blocking out the fresh smell of pine and snow. His heat warmed her, his touch the only thing on her mind as his hand kept her in place, blocking out the chill. The rough stubble on his face scratched against her skin as he deepened the kiss. When his tongue parted her lips, Amy let out a small moan. Both of them were breathing hard, lost in each other's eyes as they pulled away slowly, neither wanting to break the moment. Leaning down, Luke rested his forehead on Amy's whose breathing was still a little quick. "You were saying?"

I picked up Winter Angel from Amazon after seeing it featured on Sharrice's blog - Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction - Thanks Sharrice for introducing me to this one.

So what did I think of it?
Being a Novella, it was a quick read. Both characters are dealing with issues from their past. Both have been coerced to vacation in a place neither of them wants to be... the snowy Alps of France.

Sharing something in common, Luke and Amy form a a friendship, and together, help each other overcome their internal struggles and discover that the future does not have to be tainted by the past.

My rating: 3.5 out of 5

This week for me its:

Of Silver and Beasts
(Goddess Wars #1)

by
Trisha Wolfe

In the sand-covered queendom of Cavan, the goddess once saved a young Kaliope’s life, preventing the mercury her father attempted to hide in her blood from reaching her heart. Now, a cybernetic clamp filters it, but the silver streaks swirling faintly beneath her skin are a constant reminder that she’s different.

When nineteen-year-old Kaliope is chosen as head of the Nactue Guard, she becomes the sworn protector to her empress. In the midst of an invasion on a neighboring land, Kaliope is placed in charge of guarding Prince Caben, the last heir to his kingdom. But when they’re attacked by the feared Otherworlders, Caben and Kaliope are abducted and taken below to a realm where they must fight for their life in a caged arena.

Kaliope struggles to protect her princely charge, keeping him and herself alive while battling inhumanly opponents, and trying to save the stolen, sacred relic that will restore her empress’s life force and all of Cavan. And if she can somehow awaken the goddess within her, she may save what’s most important.

New Adult Dark Fantasy: Intended for readers 17 years of age and older.

I picked this one up quite a while back after reading a few great reviews. Why haven't I read it yet?
