Feature and Follow #2

Feature and Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain followers in the book blogging community.

Question?
Worst Cover.
What is the worst cover of a book you have read and loved?

The Mating is the first book in The Laws of the Lycans Series written by Nicky Charles. Although I absolutely loved the books, I did not find this cover all that appealing.
(Word of warning - if you choose to read this book, it does have explicit sex scenes)

What's your FF?

A tribute to Amanda Hocking

Today I wanted to take the time to pay tribute to one of my favorite authors -
Amanda Hocking.

I'm sure many of you have heard of her and have undoubtedly read her books. But for those of you who haven't, I have made a quick list.

The Trylle Trilogy

My Blood Approves
The Hollows
Virtue
Watersong

I have found her inspiring, not only as an author, but also as a person who was not afraid to seek out her own destiny. After receiving multiple rejections from agents on the various different novels she wrote and then queried, Amanda finally made the decision to self-publish. A decision which has bode well for her and made her one of the most recognizable authors in the world.

I find Amanda's unwillingness to give up, her determination to have her books published, and the positive attitude she displays, something to be admired.

Thank You Amanda, you are an inspiration to all Indie Authors.

Swoon Thursday #1 Evernight

The fabulous girls over at YA Bound created this super HOT meme. Here's how it works.

From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag #YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog!

My first Swoon is from Evernight by Claudia Gray

"You know I'm only looking out for you, right?" he whispered. I could feel his lips brushing against my forehead. "I want to keep you safe."

"I don't need you to protect me from danger, Lucus." I slipped my arms around his waist and hugged him tightly. "I need you to protect me from being lonely. Don't fight for me. Be with me. That's what I need."

He laughed, a strange, sad sound. "You need somebody to look out for you. Make sure everything's okay. I want to be that guy."

I lifted my face to his. We were so close that my eyelashes brushed his chin, and I could feel the warmth of body heat in the small space between our mouths. It took all my courage to say, "Lucus, all I need is you."

Lucus touched my cheek, then brushed his lips against mine. That first touch stole my breath, but I already knew that I wasn't afraid any longer. I was with Lucus and nothing could ever hurt me.

So, did Lucus steal your breath too!

Teaser Tuesdays #1 Hush Hush

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share dosent give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I realize that many of you may have already read the book from which I have made my selection. But since it is one of my ultimate favorites, I have used it for my first Teaser Tuesday.

"I get that you're angry...," said Patch.

"I am ripped apart!" I shouted.

His hands slid up my neck, searing hot. Pressing his thumbs gently into my throat, he tipped my head back. I felt his lips come against mine so hard he stopped whatever name I'd been about to call him from coming out.

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick p301
