From the Library:

If You Leave
(Beautifully Broken #2)
by
Courtney Cole

26-year old Gabriel Vincent is a badass hero. Or he used to be, anyway. As an ex-Army Ranger, Gabe never thought he needed anyone. But after one horrible night in Afghanistan scars him in a way that he can't get past, he needs someone who can help him heal...even if he doesn't realize it.

25-year old Madison Hill doesn't need anybody...or so she thinks. She grew up watching her parents' messed-up abusive relationship and she knows there's no way in hell that she's ever letting that happen to her.

They don't know it in the beginning, but Gabriel and Madison will soon develop a weakness: Each other.

But Gabriel's got a secret, a hidden monster that he's afraid Maddy could never overcome... And Maddy's got issues that she's afraid Gabe will never understand. They quickly realize that they need each other to be whole, but at the same time they know that they've got demons to fight.

And the problem with demons is that they never die quietly.

Before We Fall
(Beautifully Broken #3)
by
Courtney Cole

Sometimes, one dark moment is all it takes to turn your world black...

For 24-year old Dominic Kinkaide, that moment took place on the night of his high school graduation. One dark incident changed him forever. He's a hardened actor now, famous in the eyes of the world, but tortured in his own. He doesn't care about much of anything, except for losing himself in the roles that he plays.

23-year old Jacey Vincent doesn't realize how much her father's indifference has affected her. She is proof that sometimes it isn't one specific moment that wrecks a person, but rather it's an absence of moments. She's like a bird with a broken wing-strong yet fragile, as she tries to float through life, finding acceptance in the arms of random guys, one after the other... to fill the void that her father left in her.

Until she meets Dominic.

After jaded Dominic and strong-willed Jacey are thrown together, his secret and her issues create a dark and damaged energy that will soon turn their attraction to each other into an explosive storm.

Even though when the clouds have cleared and the dust has settled, both of them are almost obliterated... they've learned a priceless lesson.

Sometimes, before we fall... we fly.

My Swoon for this week comes from:

Connected By The Sea
(Hawaiian Crush #1)
by
E.L. Todd

First - The Blurb:

Living in paradise, Sydney loves her job, her friends, and her passion for marine biology. Her best friend, Henry, has an invested interest in her, but Sydney never seems to notice. While Henry is the perfect man, she only dates the wrong guys. Her ex-boyfriend cheated on her, broke her heart, and now she’s too shattered to give anyone a chance.

Until Coen…

A sexy bad boy with a tattoo, he elicits dark desires Sydney hasn’t felt in so long. His intense eyes, the color of the sea, capture her sight, making it impossible to look away. She tries to avoid him, knowing he’s no good for her, but Coen, who always gets what he wants, doesn’t take no for an answer.

Will Sydney regret this decision? Or will she find what’s been missing her entire life? The family she lost, the loves she misses, and the trust she never thought she could have for someone else?

Second - The Swoon:

"Promise me?"

He rubbed his nose against hers then placed her hand over his heart. "I swear to you, Sydney, that I will not cheat on you, lie to you, unless it's in your best interest or I'm trying to surprise you, and I will do my best to not hurt you. I can't promise that I won't because that's impossible, but I will do my best not to."

She pressed her forehead against his, "Okay."

This was quite a sweet and tender moment in the story. Coen appears as a bad-ass on the outside but he has a soft center.

My Tease for this week comes from:

Hooked on the Game
(Sterling Shore #1)
by
C.M. Owens

First - The Blurb:

Everyone has secrets that define them, a past that has shaped them, and a game they play - whether they know it or not.

Despite the fact they live next door to each other, Kade and Raya have never made an effort to speak, until a wild party, four frat boys, and... a bulldozer.

Sterling Shore was supposed to be a new start for eighteen-year-old Raya Capperton. Everything was working out perfectly until her two roommates were expelled for a prank, leaving Raya with the house she couldn't afford on her own. Fate intervenes before she has the chance to find a new home, but she struggles to decide if it's divine luck or the devil's cruel sense of humor.

Twenty-one-year-old Kade Colton has his life planned out, and everything he does is an elaborate game to aid him with his future endeavors. Coming from money has made Kade's life easy, but he wants to build his own name - his own future. The thing he doesn't realize... when you only put forth superficial effort, you only acquire superficial friends.

Raya is torn between being amused or disturbed by Kade and his philosophy, but the drive behind his determination isn't what Raya expected. Little by little, her hatred fades and is replaced by emotions she never would have believed she could have for the rich jerk she desperately doesn't want to care about. Too bad you can't force yourself not to care.

The problem is... Kade's shiny name can't be tarnished, and Raya has a jaded tie she can't cut loose. Nothing about them can work, nothing about them makes sense, but nothing can seem to stop them from trying.

*Not suitable for anyone under the age of eighteen
** No cliffhanger
**New Adult Contemporary Romance
**Descriptive sex
**Language

Second - The Tease(rs):

Tease 1
I opened my mouth to affirm my decision just as I'm whirled around. Soft but firm lips find mine and steal my breath, as familiar hands travel down to my back.

"Seriously, Kade?" Brock groans, making Kade smile against the kiss with me.

Holy shit. I'm kissing Kade.

Tease 2
Perfect trails of kisses are forged around my neck as we both drop to the soft mattress. He's been gentle, he's been rough, but this... this is so much more. It's as though I'm the only person in the world right now, and he's worshiping me with every touch, every kiss, and every breath.

At the beginning of Hooked on the Game when we are first introduced to Kade (a sexy rich college student), it seems like he is a conceited jerk who doesn't care about anybody but himself. However, as the story progresses, we soon learn that's not the case. He is actually rather sweet and caring.

Raya is the girl next door. Coming from a back ground which is questionable, she doesn't see herself as being in the same league as Kade. However, when they are suddenly thrown together due to circumstance beyond both their control, feelings they didn't know existed, rise to the surface. And over time, they discover that love can transcend class distinction.

Hooked on the Game is a quick and easy read.

My Rating: 4 out of 5

TBR Tuesday #74 ~ Breaking Rules (Breaking #1) by Tracie Puckett

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'TBR Tuesday'

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Breaking Rules
(Breaking #1)
by
Tracie Puckett

Sometimes, the lessons of childhood are damaging enough that, by eighteen, you’ve figured out some rules so you don’t repeat your parents’ mistakes. For Mandy, that meant finishing her last year of high school, going to college, and then returning to small-town Sugar Creek to live a solitary life as a writer.

That was the plan, and her main rule for avoiding complications and staying on track was to never, ever, EVER let someone get too close.

That was before she met Gabe.

And when Gabe starts to awaken emotions she’s never experienced, Mandy suddenly begins to question every belief she’s ever had.

She can’t be falling in love, can she? That would be the biggest mistake of her life, wouldn’t it? Could she break one of her most important rules—for Gabe?

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!

Leave a comment and tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
