Book Boyfriend of the Week #2 - Easy by Tammara Webber

My Book Boyfriend of the Week

This is a meme created by Reading and Things for bloggers to talk about there book boyfriends and tease the readers with things they've said.

Want to participate?

Then all you have to do is:

1) Pick a book boyfriend, it can be from the book your currently reading or from one you've already read.
2) Write what kind of boyfriend he is, and if you want, say why you think that.
3) Pick a quote from his book, long or short, that proves he is the kind of boyfriend you said he is.
4) Make sure the quote, and the explanation DO NOT give away anything from the book (we want all of the twists and plot surprises to remain surprises).

5) Share it! And shout it out using the #Reading and Things.

My Book Boyfriend for this week is:

Lucas (Landon) Maxfield

from Easy by Tammara Webber

Lucus is ruggedly gorgeous, super caring and has a mystery about him that calls to you to want to learn more about him. The way he treats and respects Jacqueline is both sweet and endearing.

I took a deep breath and exhaled it slowly before turning around. It was Lucas who stood there. His gaze was penetrating, not wavering for a moment, and my pulse hammered under his silent scrutiny. I couldn't remember the last time I'd been so full of pure, unqualified desire.Lucas is the stranger who saved Jacqueline from an attack by a fellow student - she'd never noticed him before then, and now he's everywhere. But can Jacqueline trust him - or will the secrets he's hiding come between them?

(Mature Young Adult / New Adult)

Here's a little taste:

"The night we met - I'm not like that guy." His jaw was rigid.

"I know tha-" He placed a finger over my lips, his expression softening.

"So I don't want you to feel pressured. Or overpowered. But I do, absolutely, want to kiss you right now. Badly." He trailed his finger over my jaw and down my throat, and then into his lap.

Okay! Now it's your turn. Who's your current book crush for this week? Please leave a link below.

My Swoon for this week comes from:

Taking Chances
by
Molly McAdams

First - The Blurb:

Her first year away is turning out to be nearly perfect, but one weekend of giving in to heated passion will change everything.

Eighteen-year-old Harper has grown up under the thumb of her career marine father. Ready to live life her own way and to experience things she's only ever heard of from the jarheads in her father's unit, she's on her way to college at San Diego State University.

Thanks to her new roommate, Harper is introduced to a world of parties, gorgeous guys, family, and emotions. She finds herself being torn in two as she quickly falls in love with both her new boyfriend, Brandon, and her roommate's brother, Chase. Despite their dangerous looks and histories, both men adore Harper and would do anything for her, including taking a step back if it would mean she'd be happy.

Second - The Swoon:

I vaguely heard the party chant the final numbers before erupting into cheers and Chase's lips softly pressed into mine. I stood stunned for a few seconds before wrapping my arms around his neck and moving my mouth against his. When he traced my bottom lip with his tongue, I opened my mouth in invitation and he didn't disappoint. My stomach heated and I ached to press my body to his. He stumbled back to the wall opposite  where we'd been and grabbed my hips, bringing me to rest between his legs. One hand went back to my hair while the other found its way to the small of my back, bringing me even closer to him and I moaned into his mouth. We poured four and a half months of longing and ignoring our chemistry into that one kiss... when it was over, I knew I'd never be the same. He rested his forehead against mine, and I had to press a hand to my chest, I swear my heart was about to explode.

Third - My Thoughts:

I'm keeping my thoughts on this one brief, mainly because I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. There were parts of the story I loved and parts which played with my emotions in ways I wasn't expecting.

Harper's cute but a little naive. Brandon is gorgeous, caring and maybe a little on the possessive side.  And then there's Chase. Chase is your typical bad boy. Who doesn't love a bad boy? Torn between her love for both guys, Harper needs to make a choice, but it's not easy. Bouncing back and forth between the two of them, that choice is eventually taken out of her hands.

This is definitely a love triangle. One with unexpected results.

My Rating : 4 out of 5

Teaser Tuesday # 50 - From Ashes

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)

This week's Tease comes from:

From Ashes

First - The Blurb:

Aside from her dad, who passed away when she was six, Cassidy Jameson has only ever trusted one man: her best friend, Tyler. So of course she follows him to Texas when he leaves for college. She just didn't expect to be so drawn to their new roommate, Gage, a gorgeous guy with a husky Southern drawl. The only problem? He's Tyler's cousin.

Gage Carson was excited to share an apartment off campus with his cousin. He didn't mind that Tyler was bringing the mysterious friend he'd heard about since they were kids ... until the most beautiful girl he's ever seen jumps out of his cousin's Jeep. There's something about Cassi that makes Gage want to give her everything. Too bad Tyler has warned him that she's strictly off-limits.

Despite everything keeping them apart, Cassi and Gage dance dangerously close to the touch they're both been craving. But when disaster sends her running into Tyler's arms, Cassi will have to decide whether to face the demons of her past ... or to burn her chance at a future with Gage.

Second - The Tease:

My heart started racing as he slowly lowered his body to mine. Heat zinged through my entire body when his chest pressed against me, his lips still hovering less than an inch from my own. Our eyes searched each other, and his green eyes darkened as he leaned in closer to brush his lips across my forehead and both cheeks. Pulling back slightly, he waited, giving me the opportunity to stop him. I ran a hand through his messy black hair and curled it around the back of his neck, giving the slightest pressure so he'd know I wanted this too. A soft smile broke across his face and he leaned towards me again.

Third - My Thoughts:

Cassidy, abused by her parents for most of her life, finally manges to flee the pain with the help of her bestie - Tyler. Moving to a new city, starting a new life, all seems easy until she meets Gage. Almost instantly, an attraction develops between the two of them. However, Tyler does not approve. Hoping to finally start a relationship with Cassidy himself, he does everything he can to sabotage any chance Cassidy and Gage have of hooking up.

Does he succeed in keeping them apart? Mmm....

The story is well written and quite entertaining although at times it does move a little slowly. Some of the scenes are quite intense and there are a few steamy moments.

My rating: 4 out of  5

I've been wanting to read this one for a while. Finally managed to get a copy from my local library. I'm currently half way through. My thoughts should be up on Thursday.

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
On your blog (and be sure to leave a link) tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
