Weekly Wrap-Up

This week's been a little different. My daughter was home from school Monday (Student free day) so I took her shopping. She recently had a birthday and was desperate to unload the gift cards she'd received. Tuesday was Melbourne Cup day. I picked the winning horse, but sadly, had no bet on it. (I'm not much of a gambler). Wednesday... I worked. Thursday... spent the day catching up with house work. (My most favorite thing to do...NOT).  And Friday... finally squeezed in a day of writing.

My Swoon for this week comes from:

 Bad for You
(Sea Breeze #7)
by
Abbi Glines

First - The Blurb:

Innocence was never meant for the addictive…

Addiction was something Krit Corbin accepted as part of his nature a long time ago. He decided to embrace it and flip his finger at the rules. Women had always been the number one thing on his list of addictions. He couldn’t get enough. Being the lead singer in a rock band had only made access to his favorite addiction that much easier.

Being alone was the only thing Blythe Denton understood. The small town minister’s family that raised her hadn’t accepted her as their own. The minister’s wife had always made sure Blythe understood just how unworthy she was of love. When Blythe is sent away to college and given a chance to finally be free of living as an unwanted burden, she looks forward to having peace in her life. Being alone isn’t something that bothers her. She escapes reality in the stories she writes.

However, the ridiculously sexy tattooed guy who keeps throwing parties in the apartment above hers is driving her crazy. For starters, he doesn’t treat her like she would expect a guy with a different woman always hanging on his arm to treat someone as uninteresting as her. She looks nothing like the gorgeous women she sees parading in and out of his apartment, but for some strange reason he keeps showing up at her door.

During a party at his apartment, Krit’s new neighbor comes to the door with her long brown hair pulled up in a messy knot and a pair of glasses perched on her cute little nose. She wants him to turn down the music, but he convinces her to stay.

Krit Corbin may have just found his biggest addiction yet. And Blythe Denton realizes too late that she’s finally been claimed.

Second - The Swoon(s):

Krit is:
Sexy / Arrogant:

“Most women beg me to lick them, and I give it to you for free and you push me away,” he said with a fake pout on his face.
“You’re crazy.” I giggled
“I’m the good kind of crazy, though.”

Possessive / Needy:

“I’m not sharing. You’re mine. No one will touch you but me. I have an addictive personality. I always have. And you just became my number one addiction. I’m gonna want this. A lot. I’m needy and demanding, and now you’re the only one who can meet that need.”

Totally lost to Blythe:

I was completely obsessed with her. Addicted wasn’t a strong enough word. She had surpassed my addictive tendencies, and I was full-blown obsessed.

“You don’t just fit into my world, Blythe. You are my world”

Blythe is:

Sweetly innocent. Raised by a Pastor and his wife after her mother died in childbirth, she is brought up to believe that she is both ugly and evil and that no one could ever love her.
Then she meets Krit and her whole world changes.

Just maybe I was worthy of love.

“It made me expect certain things. You taught me not to expect those things. You made me believe I could be wanted. You wanted me when no one else ever has.”

I love the Sea Breeze series. Can't wait to read the next one - Hold On Tight.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Waiting on Wednesday #8 ~ Confess by Colleen Hoover

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I’m waiting on:

Confess
by
Colleen Hoover

Expected publication: March 10th, 2015 by Atria Books

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover, a new novel about risking everything for love—and finding your heart somewhere between the truth and lies.

Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.

For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.

The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)

My Tease for this week comes from:

Sweet Reckoning
(The Sweet Trilogy #3)
by
Wendy Higgins

First - The Blurb:

It’s time.

Evil is running rampant and sweet Anna Whitt is its target. Nobody knows when or how the Dukes will strike, but Anna and her Nephilim allies will do anything necessary to rid the earth of the demons and their oppressive ways.

The stakes are higher than ever, and Anna is determined that the love she feels will be her strength, not a liability. But trying to protect the ones she loves while running for her life and battling demonic forces proves to be perilous—especially as faces are changing and trust is fleeting. When the Duke of Lust sends Anna’s great love, Kaidan Rowe, to work against her, Anna must decide how much she’s prepared to risk.

In the most sensual and fast-paced installment yet, Sweet Reckoning brings all the beloved Neph together one last time to fight for their freedom.

Second - The Tease(rs):

Tease 1
“You're so bloody cute," he whispered, his voice all low and yummy.
Blood whooshed through my body. A Kai buzz. Oh, he was totally using the bedroom eyes...all heavy lidded and seductive. I don't even think he was trying. I suddenly felt shy. Even from the other side of the country, this boy was dangerous.”

Tease 2
"Behave, Kai.” My voice sounded more sultry than I intended. “I didn’t say a word.” He wet his lips, and I thought of that mouth on my body several days ago. We’d only been apart one day, and already it felt way longer. “Okay, stop,” I said. He grinned. “Stop what?” As if he didn’t know. Kaidan Rowe was anything but innocent, and well aware of his charm.”

Tease 3
He froze. “I . . .” Then, as he searched my face with wonder, he slid from his seat and down to one knee. “My sweet, lovely Anna. I love you . . . and I want to marry you. But only if you want to. Do you? I mean, will you? Marry me?”
Be still my heart. His proposal was so adorably awkward that I had to laugh, sliding out of my chair so I could face him on my knees, too. I grabbed his face and kissed him for saying exactly what I needed to hear. We kissed once, twice, three times before he pulled back.
“Does it always take this long for someone to answer? It’s making me bloody nervous.”
I looked into his eyes. “Yes, Kai. I’ll marry you.”

Yeah, sorry, but I couldn't just stop on one teaser for this one. I love The Sweet Trilogy and Wendy did a super job in wrapping up Anna and Kaidan's story. This is definitely a series for your TBR pile if you love paranormal romance.

My Rating; 5 out of 5

TBR Tuesday #70 ~ Love Notes (Love Notes #1) by Heather Gunter

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'TBR Tuesday'

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Love Notes
(Love Notes #1)
by
Heather Gunter

How do you cope when the people you care for hurt you the most? When the way you feel on the outside, smothers you on the inside. And when you are left to face your demons alone, will you learn that only you have the power to overcome them?

Charlie has never had it easy. Between the constant moving and the incessant fat comments and jokes from her father, her self-worth is nonexistent. Her reflection in the mirror shows her nothing but a plain Jane. Music is the only thing that keeps her sanity in check.

Charlie catches the eye of the town star quarterback, Maverick. With her curves, her brunette hair, and the voice of an angel, Maverick has never met anyone like her. Everything that is different about Charlie just makes Maverick like her more. Unfortunately, Charlie doesn’t see it herself.

Proving it to her may deem harder than he thinks, especially when tragedy strikes and tears them apart.

Now standing on her own two feet she may finally learn exactly who she is, what’s she’s capable of and how very unplain Jane she really is.

I picked this one up quite a while back when it was free on Amazon.
I'm hoping to find time to read it soon.

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!

Leave a comment and tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
