Staking the Shelves # 35

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks.

Last week I borrowed the first three books from the series -  Soul Screamers - by Rachel Vincent.
This week I added the next three:

My Soul To Steal

If I Die

Before I Wake

Okay! So what did you add to your shelf this week?
I'd really like to know.

Swoon Thursday # 47 - My Soul To Take

The fabulous girls over at YA Bound created this super HOT meme.

Here's how it works. From the book you're currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag#YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog!

My Swoon for this week comes from:

My Soul To Take
(Soul Screamers #1)

by
Rachel Vincent

First - The Blurb:

She doesn't see dead people. She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.

Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about her need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only Kaylee knows who'll be next.

Second - The Swoon:

My breath hitched in anticipation, and my pulse raced. "What should I be thinking about?" My own voice came out lower, my words so soft I could barely hear them.

"Me," he whispered back, leaning forward so that his lips brushed my ear as he spoke. His scent enveloped me, and his cheek felt scratchy against mine. "You should be thinking about me." His fingers intertwined with mine in my lap, and he pulled away from my ear slowly, his lips skimming my cheek, deliciously soft in contrast to the sharp stubble. He dropped a trail of small kisses along my jaw, and my heart beat harder with every single one.

When he reached my chin, the kisses trailed up until his mouth met mine, gently sucking my lower lip between his. Teasing without making full contact. My chest rose and fell quickly, my breaths shallow, my pulse racing.

He heard me. He must have. Nash pulled back just long enough to meet my gaze, heat blazing behind his eyes, and I realized that he was breathing hard too. His fingers tightened around mine and his free hand slid into the hair at the base of my skull.

Then he kissed me for real.

Third - My Thoughts:

After reading several great reviews on the Souls Screamers, I decided it was time to read it myself. Having completed book #1 - My Soul To Take - I am now hooked.

Kaylee is pretty, kind, strong willed, and... a banshee (bean sidhe). Nash, the hot young guy who seems to be everyone's crush, suddenly focuses his attention on Kaylee. Why? Because he is also a banshee. And... because he finds her attractive. As their relationship develops, Nash explains to Kaylee what it means to be a female banshee - a soul singer, and how her abilities intertwine with his. By working together, they can save lives by saving souls.

I quite enjoyed My Soul To Take and am looking forward to reading book # 2 - My Soul To Save.

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Teaser Tuesday # 46 - Crush

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week's Tease comes from:

Crush

by
Lacey Weatherford

First - The Blurb:

Cami Wimberley has a plan, and that plan includes no room for boys—especially the big time party animal, Hunter Wilder, no matter how handsome and charismatic he is. She’s beautiful, a senior, extremely talented, gets good grades, and is working her way toward her dream college to be a musical theater major. Everything is perfect.

Hunter Wilder does not want a girlfriend—that would complicate his life way too much right now. He especially doesn’t want this girl, Miss-Goody-Two-Shoes, so how come he can’t keep his eyes off her? He tries to keep her at arms length, but fate seems to keep pushing them together. Before long, it’s obvious to everyone they’re crushing on each other.

As sparks begin to fly, Hunter finds himself sinking deeper and deeper into hot water. Soon he’s scrambling to keep Cami from discovering his dark secret—one that can destroy their entire relationship.

Second - The Tease:

I closed my eyes for a second. "Forgive me," I whispered when I looked at her again. I grabbed her cheeks and pressed my lips to hers.

I know I should stop at two sentences, but I have to give you just a touch more of Cami and Hunter.

Sparks exploded at the simple contact between us, and I found myself sliding my hands down her shoulders so I could pull her closer. I wrapped both of my arms around her back and pressed against her, walking slowly forward until she was pinned against the door. Her fingers move upward, locking around behind my neck. She opened her mouth, allowing me access, and I happily invaded, licking and tasting what she offered. It was heaven.

Third - My Thoughts:

Cami is beautiful, talented and has her life planned out, that is, until she meets Hunter. Hunter, gorgeous, charismatic, and a little mysterious, appears as the typical school bad boy. But is he really? Unable to deny the attraction which occurs between them, Cami and Hunter enter a relationship, but there are consequences, some of which are more devastating than others.

Although some of the twists and turns are predictable, this is a well written and easy to read YA Contemporary Romance.
I really enjoyed Crush and recommend it to anyone who is interested in this genre.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

From The TBR Pile # 5

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'From The TBR Pile'. If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:

From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me, it's:

Poison Princess
by
Kresley Cole

#1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole introduces The Arcana Chronicles, post-apocalyptic tales filled with riveting action, the dark mysticism of Tarot cards, and breathtaking romance.

She could save the world—or destroy it.

Sixteen year old Evangeline “Evie” Greene leads a charmed life, until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future—and they’re still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux.

But she can’t do either alone.

With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can’t totally depend on Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?

Who can Evie trust?

As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it’s not always clear who is on which side….

I have had this one on my shelf for a while now. It is slowly creeping it's way to the top of the pile.

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
On your blog (and be sure to leave a link) tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
