Feature & Follow # 77 ~ How have your reading habits changed?

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community. If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers. But you have to know, the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

This weeks question:

How have your reading habits changed in the past few years? Did you get interested in a new genre? Do you read more? Less? Why do you think your habits changed, if they did.

Have I changed my reading habits?
For a while there, I only  read YA paranormal / fantasy romance. Then one day I came across a book from a different genre - NA Contemporary. And I loved it. Now I happily skip between the two.

Do I read more or less often?
I think over the past couple of years I have increased the amount I read, largely because since I started blogging, I have discovered so many new books which I just can't resist.

My Swoon for this week comes from:

Significance
(Significance #1)

by
Shelly Crane

First - The Blurb:

Maggie is a seventeen year old girl who's had a bad year. She was smart and on track, but her mom left, her dad is depressed, she's graduating, barely, and her boyfriend of almost three years dumped her for a college football scholarship. Lately she thinks life is all about hanging on by a thread and is gripping tight with everything she has.

Then she meets Caleb.

She saves his life and instantly knows there's something about him that's intriguing, but she's supposed to be on her way to a date with his cousin. Things change when they touch, sparks ignite. Literally.

They imprint with each other and she sees their future life together flash before her eyes. She learns that not only is she his soul mate, and can feel his heartbeat in her chest, but there is a whole other world of people with gifts and abilities that she never knew existed. She herself is experiencing supernatural changes unlike anything she's ever felt before and she needs the touch of his skin to survive. Now, not only has her dad come out of his depression to be a father again, and a pain as well, but Caleb's enemies know he's imprinted and are after Maggie to stop them both from gaining their abilities and take her from him.

Can Caleb save her or will they be forced to live without each other after just finding one another?

Second - The Swoon:

I smiled at his words, feeling the warmth and caress behind them. I leaned forward and kissed him. I opened my mouth and let my tongue touch his bottom lip, then pulled it gently between my teeth. His breath left in a rush. I smiled inside and pulled him closer with his shirt in my fist. I let my fingers trace his jaw and neck and move to his hair. I ran my fingers through it, tugging gently. I heard and felt his small groan so I decided to pull back from him. His eyes were bright and glimmering with something I didn't want to think about on a plane. He licked his bottom lip and continued to breathe erratically.

Maggie and Caleb are a cute couple and I'm looking forward to reading the second book in the series and seeing where things lead from here.

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Tease for this week comes from:

Sweet Blood of Mine

(Overworld Chronicles #1)

by
John Corwin

First - The Blurb:

From Mega Nerd to Super Stud.

Justin Case and women do not mix. Man boobs, a love of Kings and Castles, and being tight with the "nerd" crowd certainly don't win him any points either. After rescuing Katie, his crush, it turns out she might not be the girl he thought she was, while Elyssa, the school's Goth Girl, turns out to be more. Can high school get any more confusing?

Determined to improve himself, he joins a gym and meets a sexy girl that just oozes a "come hither, Justin" vibe. Until she attacks him in the parking lot, and Justin realizes she's no ordinary girl but a being with supernatural speed and strength. After a narrow escape and an excruciating migraine headache, he wakes up with supernatural abilities all his own: speed, strength, and the ability to seduce every woman he sees.

While that might sound like the perfect combo for any hormonal teen, Justin is a hopeless romantic who wants his first time to be special. Is that too much to ask for? But he doesn't know what he is or how to stop his carnal urges. One thing is clear: If he doesn't find answers there are other more sinister supernaturals who would like nothing better than to make him their eternal plaything and do far worse than kill him.

Second - The Tease: (or in this case, Teasers)

Tease 1

She looked so vulnerable and scared that I wanted to kiss her again. But I couldn't. It was all I could do to hold my demonic sexual urge back from groping her essence. When 'demonic' becomes a common adjective you use to describe yourself, you know you have a problem.

Tease 2

I pulled her lips back to mine. her scent was intoxicating. The touch of her body against mine was like being kissed by the sun. I ran a hand up her neck, clenched her hair at the nape, and gave it a gentle tug. She moaned. I groaned. her teeth nipped my neck and I shuddered with pleasure. Fire rushed from my stomach and flooded my veins. My lust slammed against its rib cage like a wild beast. My control faltered.

Tease 3

"You heard me. I have been chased by the undead, fought vampires, freed my dad from a crypt, and brought my super hot vampire lover back from the dead by letting her drink my blood. Man, I need something normal."

Yeah, that last teaser pretty much summons up just how abnormal Justin's life is. This is a quirky read with a lot of fun moments.

TBR Tuesday # 37 ~ Fall Guy by Liz Reinhardt

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'TBR Tuesday'

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Fall Guy
(Youngblood #1)

by

Liz Reinhardt

When Evan Lennox meets Winchester Youngblood . . .

Evan Lennox is going nowhere fast.

She's living with her grandparents after her parents bailed on her, she got kicked out of her posh private school, and her ex-boyfriend turned out to be a total sleaze. To top it all off, one teeny, tiny fire she lit to burn some memories of her ex goes out of control and lands Evan's pampered behind in court. She's sentenced to community service and dreading it.

Until she meets Winchester Youngblood on the site.

Everything about him is tricky, not what it seems, and so sexy, Evan can't resist pulling closer. But every step she takes to get to know him gives her more of a reason to back up. Because Winch is one hundred percent complicated, and Evan isn't looking for that. At all. She needs to meet a nice, responsible guy, not share searing kisses with the charming bad boy she met in court.

But Winch is so much more than what he seems, and Evan finds out that she's falling hard for the guy everyone underestimates and writes off. And Winch realizes that Evan is the one person who's ever challenged him to ask for more out of his life. With the odds stacked against them, Evan and Winch need to find out whether they have what it takes to fall for each other.

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
Leave a comment and tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
