Book Boyfriend of the Week # 6 Reed from Inescapable by Amy A. Bartol

This is a meme created by Reading and Things for bloggers to talk about there book boyfriends and tease the readers with things they've said.

Want to participate?

Then all you have to do is:

1) Pick a book boyfriend, it can be from the book your currently reading or from one you've already read.
2) Write what kind of boyfriend he is, and if you want, say why you think that.
3) Pick a quote from his book, long or short, that proves he is the kind of boyfriend you said he is.
4) Make sure the quote, and the explanation DO NOT give away anything from the book (we want all of the twists and plot surprises to remain surprises).
5) Share it! And shout it out using the #Reading and Things.

My Book Boyfriend for this week is:

Reed

I first learnt about Reed when I came across a deleted seen from Inescapable by Amy A. Bartol. Instantly intrigued by his dark good looks, his strong character and the way he interacted with Evie, I entered a competition and won the first book in The Premonition series. Needless to say, I became completely hooked.

My name is Evie Claremont and this was to be the making of me--my freshman year of college. I had been hoping that once I had arrived on Crestwood's campus, the nightmare that I've been having would go away. It hasn't.

I may be an inexperienced seventeen-year-old, but I'm grounded...sane. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he is near, I feel an attraction to him--a magnetic kind of force pulling me towards him. I know what you're thinking...that sounds fairly awesome. Yeah, it would--if he liked me, but Reed acts as if I'm the worst thing that's ever happened to Crestwood...or him. But, get this, for some reason every time I turn around he's there, barging into my life.

What is the secret he is keeping from me? I'm hoping that it is anything but what I expect: that he is not exactly normal...and neither am I. So maybe Crestwood won't be the making of me, but it could be the breaking of me. I have been left to wonder if the dark future my dream is foretelling is...inescapable.

Here's a little taste:
(The moment when Reed finally confesses his true feelings for Evie - I absolutely love this scene)

"Genevieve, what if I told you that you're not the only one who feels the fluttering, weightless feeling in here," he says, indicating his abdomen, "when we're together."

My heart leaps in my chest as I search his face for signs that he's teasing me, but he appears absolutely serious.

Looking grim, he adds, "That day at orientation, I felt you before I saw you, and then I saw you, and I knew that you are... and I wanted to... you don't want to hear this."

"No, this is exactly what I need to hear from you," I say anxiously.

His eyes narrow, "I wanted to destroy you," he says, and a shiver goes through me, "and I wanted to take you in my arms and love you, and I wanted to tear you apart, and I wanted to crush anything that would harm you, all at the same time."

"Have you felt this way before... this pull toward someone else?" I wonder aloud, not completely understanding what he has told me.

"Never," Reed says forcefully.

"Never?" I ask, and he growls in response.

Okay! Now it's your turn. Who's your current book crush for this week? Please leave a link below.

Feature & Follow # 54

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community. If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers. But you have to know, the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

This Weeks Question:

Bookshelf tour: Give us a tour of your book shelf.

Unfortunately, my books are not all in one place but spread out around the house.
(I really need to organize them all into one big bookshelf like I've done for my kids books. Maybe one day)
Anyway, after some thought, I decided to do just a few pictures of some of my favorites.
Hope you enjoy.

As you can see from this one, I'm a bit of a Twilight fan.
I had to have the books, the movies and the movie companions.

I love books in series. Hush Hush is one of my all time favorites.

I also have a thing for angels so I had to add Fallen to my collection.

And here are just a few more of my books.

I could keep going but I'm kind of short on time.

My Swoon for this week comes from:

Point of Retreat

by
Colleen Hoover

First - The Blurb:

Hardships and heartache brought them together…now it will tear them apart.

Layken and Will have proved their love can get them through anything; until someone from Will’s past re-emerges, leaving Layken questioning the very foundation on which their relationship was built. Will is forced to face the ultimate challenge…how to prove his love for a girl who refuses to stop ‘carving pumpkins.’

Second - The Swoon:

She eventually lifts her head off my arm and slides on top of me, placing her hands on the back of my neck. She leans in and slowly parts my lips with hers. I become quickly consumed by the taste of her lips and the feel of her warm hands. I wrap my arms around her and run my fingers through her hair as I return her kiss. It's been so long since we've been alone together without the possibility of being interrupted. I hate being in this predicament, but I love being in this predicament. Her skin is so soft; her lips are perfect. it gets harder and harder to retreat.

Third - My Thoughts:

Point of Retreat follows on a year and a bit later from where Slammed left off, only this time, we are told the story from Will's POV.

Finally having overcome some of the hurdles set in Slammed, Will and Layken are in a relationship. However, due to foolish male reasoning, Will makes a mistake which leads to Layken questioning why they are actually together. Having to prove his love to her, we are once again sent on an emotional roller coaster ride, some of which is related using slam poetry.

Once again, I enjoyed the story and found it difficult to put down until I'd reached the very end. I'm looking forward to reading book 3 - This Girl.

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5

My Tease for this week comes from:

Slammed

by
Colleen Hoover

First - The Blurb:

Following the unexpected death of her father, 18-year-old Layken is forced to be the rock for both her mother and younger brother. Outwardly, she appears resilient and tenacious, but inwardly, she's losing hope.

Enter Will Cooper: The attractive, 21-year-old new neighbor with an intriguing passion for slam poetry and a unique sense of humor. Within days of their introduction, Will and Layken form an intense emotional connection, leaving Layken with a renewed sense of hope.

Not long after an intense, heart-stopping first date, they are slammed to the core when a shocking revelation forces their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together, and the secret that keeps them apart.

Second - The Tease:

He moves his hand to my shoulder and slides his fingers underneath the strap of my shirt, slowly tracing along the edge of it. His movements are slow and methodical as he pulls his legs off the table in front of him and turns his body towards me. His expression seems full of conflict but he slowly leans in and presses his lips against my shoulder. I place my hands on the back of his neck and inhale. His breath becomes heavier as his lips slowly move across my shoulder and onto my neck. The room starts to spin so I close my eyes. His lips make their way to my jaw and closer to my mouth. When I feel him pull away, I open my eyes and he's watching me. There's a slight moment of hesitation in his eyes just before his lips close over mine.

Third - My Thoughts:

I liked both Layken and Will right from the start and was a little shattered when their relationship of only a few days came to a screeching halt.  For those of you who haven't read this book I won't say why but it's one of those moments when you say "Oh NO!" and wonder how they are going to get past this... if at all.

There are lots of emotional scenes, some of which are revealed through slam poetry (Yeah, I didn't know what that was either until I read this book). It can be quite intense.

Slammed is the first book by Colleen Hoover which I've read, and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is well written and easy to read. I found this one difficult to put down until all the pages had been read.

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5

From the TBR Pile # 13 - Dare You To by Katie McGarry

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'From The TBR Pile'.

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Dare You To

by
Katie McGarry

Ryan lowers his lips to my ear. "Dance with me, Beth."

"No." I whisper the reply. I hate him and I hate myself for wanting him to touch me again....

"I dare you..."

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's home life, they'd send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom's freedom and her own happiness. That's how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn't want her and going to a school that doesn't understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her, but does....

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can't tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him.

But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won't let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all.

I've had this on my TBR list for a long time now. Finally manged to get a hold of a copy at my local library. It's my next read. Can't wait!

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
On your blog (and be sure to leave a link) tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
