Book Two
in the
Mystery Falls Trilogy

After spending months apart due to an enforced separation, Samantha and Shadow are finally reunited. However, it is a reunion which may be short lived. As more secrets of the past are revealed, Samantha not only discovers her true heritage, but also how heavily intertwined it is with Shadow’s. Suddenly finding themselves on opposing sides of a feud which started long before either one of them was born, they struggle to remain together in a world which seems determined to keep them apart.

Neither one of them wants to enter the conflict started by their forefathers, but unfortunately, there may not be a choice. With Samantha’s true identity now known in the world of the angels, she has become a pawn in a deadly game of revenge. Desperate to hold on to the one person who truly matters to him, Shadow must find a way to protect Samantha... or risk losing her forever.

Here's a little taste:

Beneath me, Shadow’s face contorted into an expression I didn't understand. Concerned, I asked, “What?”

His expression relaxed. Reaching up, he placed a hand on either side of my face. “Do you have any idea what your current proximity is doing to me, especially when you grind your hips into mine like that?”

Before I had climbed into bed, I had stripped out of Celeste’s clothes and into one of Shadow’s T-shirts. He had removed everything but his boxer briefs. With very little material between us now, it didn't take long for me to figure out what he meant. He wanted me, really wanted me, and the thought caused a warm sensation to ripple through the length of my body.

Filled with a sudden desire to be even closer, I leaned down and kissed him. Sucking gently on his lower lip, I coaxed his mouth to open and invite me in. As our tongues danced, his hands moved from my face, over my shoulders, and down to the lower curve of my back. Deepening the kiss, I pressed myself closer still. He groaned softly. Sliding his hands over my butt and down to my thighs, he reached for the hem of my shirt, his shirt, and slowly edged it upwards. I didn't stop him. I wanted this. I wanted him. As his fingers traced over my bare skin, a wave of electricity ran through me. Although I had felt it many times before, somehow, tonight, it was far more intense. Igniting every cell in its path, it caused my heart to race, my need for him to increase.

With his hands splayed out across my back, he rolled us over. Pinned beneath him, I was no longer in the controlling position. But I didn't care. If he wanted to lead, then I was more than willing to follow.
