Stacking the Shelves #94 & Weekly Wrap-Up

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s ReviewsIt is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks.

This week, I added the following books to my shelf.

Confess
by
Colleen Hoover

Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.

For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.

The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

Best Kind of Broken
(Finding Fate #1)
by
Chelsea Fine

Pixie and Levi haven't spoken in nearly a year when they find themselves working―and living―at the same inn in the middle of nowhere. Once upon a time, they were childhood friends. But that was before everything went to hell. And now things are... awkward.

All they want to do is avoid each other, and their past, for as long as possible. But now that they're forced to share a bathroom, and therefore a shower, keeping their distance from one another becomes less difficult than keeping their hands off each other. Welcome to the hallway of awkward tension and sexual frustration, folks. Get comfy. It’s going to be a long summer.

Someday Girl
(Someday #1)
by
Melanie Shawn

Someday…

For Cat Nichols, someday was finally here. Going away to college meant a fresh, new start for the girl who lived locked away in a prison of insecurities. She was ready to experience new things and meet new people. But she wasn’t ready for him…

Jace Butler had encountered things no one person should have to endure. Trying to come to terms with his past, while living in the present, was a constant struggle for the man whose demons lie dormant beneath the skin of his rippling body and sexy smile. But when Cat walked into his world, his chance for a better life, came with her…

After finding each other, Cat and Jace realize that both their past and present issues were trying to ruin their chance for a better future. Issues that will have to be dealt with – once and for all – together… or apart.

My Swoon for this week comes from:

The Return
(Titan #1)
by
Jennifer L. Armentrout

First - The Blurb:

The Fates are cackling their bony asses off…

It’s been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they’ve given him have been violent and bloody–which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He’s got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy’s deal might be, but it’s a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.

Book 1 in the new adult paranormal TITAN series, spin-off to the best selling COVENANT series.

Second - The Swoon:

In the short period of time I'd been around him, I'd seen so many different sides of him. It was like the Faces of Seth. He could go from sullen and serious, to teasing and downright annoying, to mischievous and playful, to seductive and dangerously deceptive in a matter of minutes. I'd never known anyone in my life like him, and I doubted many people, mortal or not-so-mortal, could claim to know how his head worked.
...Josie

If you have read the Covenant series, then you will know that this description of Seth fits him to a tee. If you haven't, then yeah, this description fits him to a tee.

Pulling my hand away, he rose, slanting his head to kiss me deeply as he pushed me onto my back, with his weight draped over me. "I've never had anything that was my own," he said against my mouth. "Nothing that was ever for just me and no one else. I've never been anyone’s first." He kissed me and then lifted his head. I stared into his eyes. "I've never been anyone’s only."
That made my heart ache for him as I raised my hand, pressing my palm against his cheek. "You’re my first," I whispered. "You’re…you’re my only."
His lips parted. "You can’t say that and not mean it."
I held his gaze as my chest swelled. "I mean it."

When first introduced to Seth in the Covenant series, I wasn't sure whether I liked him or not. And even at the end, I remained unsure. However, now reading his story and seeing him in a different light, I have finally decided, that yeah, I do like him.

As described above, Seth is sullen, teasing, annoying, mischievous, seductive and dangerously deceptive. But he is also caring, sensitive, compassionate, and when he loves someone, it is wholeheartedly.

Josie, although very innocent and naive in the beginning, quickly develops into a strong and determined character. I liked the way she handled Seth... Sethie. The interaction between then was entertaining to read and most definitely kept my attention.

If you liked the Covenant series, then I am sure you will like The Return

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Waiting on Wednesday #29 ~Trusting Liam (Taking Chances #2) by Molly McAdams

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I’m waiting on:

Trusting Liam
(Taking Chances #2)
by Molly McAdams

Expected publication: June 9th, 2015 by William Morrow Paperbacks

A night they will always remember…a connection neither can deny…a secret that could destroy it all…

When Kennedy Ryan moves to California, she never expects to come face-to-face with Liam Taylor—the intriguing man who has haunted her thoughts for a year. A man who led her to breaking every one of her rules for a single night of passion that ended up meaning more than it was ever supposed to. Accustomed to disastrous experiences with men, Kennedy shields herself before he can break down more of the carefully built control she’s clung to for the last four years. But every time she sees Liam, she feels her resolve weakening.

Liam Taylor has been asked to help socialize his boss’s nieces. But what he thinks sounds more like a babysitting job ends up leading him to the only girl who ever slipped away before morning—a girl he thought he’d never find again. And now that she’s within reach, Liam’s determined to never let her go.

But when a secret from her past tests their relationship, will they be able to cling to the trust Liam has worked so hard to build?

I read Taking Chances #1 and Stealing Harper #1.5 last year, so yeah, I'm looking forward to reading the next installment.

What are you waiting for?

  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)

My Tease for this week comes from:

Until the End
(Sea Breeze #9)
by
Abbi Glines

First - The Blurb:

The backstory that fans have been clamoring for - how Rock and Trisha fell in love - is the final installment in the sizzling Sea Breeze series.

Trisha Corbin always knew how to hide a bruise. And as long as it meant her momma's boyfriends wouldn't go near her little brother, Krit, it was worth it. But dreaming that Prince Charming would ever rescue her was pointless.

Rock Taylor always had a plan - a football scholarship for a major college team was within his reach - if he didn't let anything get in his way. But he'd never factored in trying to score a date with Trisha, the hottest girl in Sea Breeze. She was every man's walking fantasy, and she wouldn't even glance his way.

But when he finds her beaten and bruised, Rock knew his life was about to change and that he'd do anything to save Trisha Corbin, and keep her safe.
This special conclusion to the Sea Breeze series also contains the wrap-up stories of all your favourite Sea Breeze couples - the steamy romance won't stop until the very last page!

Second - The Tease:

The tip of her pink tongue wet her bottom lip and I was lost.
My mouth covered hers, and the small gasp that broke from her lips was the only chance I needed to slide my tongue onto the sweet heat of hers. I had kissed a lot of girls. But never had I felt like my world was being completely rocked.
Trisha's hands slipped over my shoulders and she held on to me. And that was f***ing perfect. She wasn't pushing me away. She was holding on to the ride and, damn, it was one hell of a ride.

Even though seeing this series come to an end was bittersweet for me, I loved the way Abbi brought all the characters back in the Epilogue so that we have a chance to say goodbye.

If you haven't started the Sea Breeze journey and you love contemporary romance with steamy scenes, hotter than hot guys and HEA's, than I highly recommend that you give this one a try. It's a wild, exciting ride.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Books in the Sea Breeze series:

Breath - Jax Stone & Sadie

Because of Low - Marcus & Willow

While it Lasts - Cage & Eva

Just for Now - Preston & Amanda

Sometimes it Lasts - Cage & Eva (Cage is my favorite so I'm glad he got two books)

Misbehaving - Jason Stone & Jess

Bad for You - Krit & Blythe

Hold on Tight - Dewayne & Sienna

Until the End - Rock & Trisha

TBR Tuesday #91 ~ Off Sides (Off #1) by Sawyer Bennett

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'TBR Tuesday'

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Off Sides
(Off #1)
by
Sawyer Bennett

“I'm not sure what possessed me to do it. Maybe it was the impossible expectations I faced, maybe it was my own self-loathing. But I just knew I needed something different to happen. I needed someone... something... to derail me from my current path. Otherwise, I would become lost... a hollowed out shell of a man. So I did it. I approached her, then I pursued her, then I made her mine. And my life was saved...”

Ryan Burnham is the privileged son of a U.S. Congressman and captain of his university’s hockey team. While he is on the verge of fulfilling his dreams to play in the NHL, his parents want him on a different course. One he is expected to accept for the sake of his family’s public image.

Forced her to abandon her music career after the heart breaking death of her parents, Danny Cross exists on the opposite side of the tracks from Ryan. She is struggling to make her own way, working two jobs, attending college part time and volunteering in a homeless shelter. She is on a mission to build her own success.

With a chance meeting, their vastly different worlds collide, causing each to evaluate whether they are truly on the correct path to self-fulfillment and happiness. Can their relationship survive? Particularly when others are against them every step of the way. A lot can happen in just ten short days...

I have collected a few of Sawyer Bennett's books. Now I just need to bump them up my TBR pile.

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!

Leave a comment and tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.

The Ruby Circle
(Bloodlines #6)

The epic conclusion to Richelle Mead's New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series is finally here...

After their secret romance is exposed, Sydney and Adrian find themselves facing the wrath of both the Alchemists and the Moroi in this electrifying conclusion to Richelle Mead’s New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series. When the life of someone they both love is put on the line, Sydney risks everything to hunt down a deadly former nemesis. Meanwhile, Adrian becomes enmeshed in a puzzle that could hold the key to a shocking secret about spirit magic, a secret that could shake the entire Moroi world.

And...

Make It a Double
(Last Call #2)
by Sawyer Bennett

Brody Markham has endured a nightmare, spending the last five years in prison and losing everything that was dear to him. Now he’s back home, trying to survive in a world he doesn’t recognize anymore. While his family and friends desperately try to reach through to him, he shelters himself further and further away from their love.

Alyssa Myers has worked her entire life to distance herself from the luxurious and privileged lifestyle in which she was raised. Running her non-profit agency, The Haven, she is content to spend her days helping abused animals find sanctuary, which fulfills her in a way that money just can’t buy.

Maybe it’s that she recognizes in Brody some of the same characteristics she sees in her homeless wards, but Alyssa is powerless to stop her personal quest to make Brody whole again.

While Brody struggles to surface from the darkness, Alyssa tries to protect her heart in case he’s not willing to accept the light that she offers him.

I actually added this one a few weeks back but forgot to post it.

Weekly Wrap-Up

Well, the kids have been on holiday for a week now and we have been doing a lot of fun family activities so not much has been happening on the blogging front.
