My Swoon for this week comes from:

Forever Too Far
(Too Far #3)

by
Abbi Glines

Warning: This book is recommended for 18+ readers due to its adult content.

First - The Blurb:

Rush promised her forever... but promises can be broken.

Torn between his love for his family and his love for Blaire, Rush has to find a way to save one without losing the other. In the end one has to be more important. Letting go isn’t easy.

Blaire believed in her fairytale... but no one can live in a fantasy.

Her love for Rush and desire to have a family keep her believing that they can find a way for this to work. Until she has to make the right decision for her and the baby. Even if it breaks her heart.

Can they find the forever that they both want or has it all just gone... too far?

Second - The Swoon:

Blaire's eyes filled up with tears and she grabbed my face and kissed me. Her soft lips opened and her tongue slid into my mouth hungrily. Right here in front of everyone. This wasn't like her but I would take it. I started to kiss her back just as passionately when she pulled back enough so that she could look at me. Her hands still held my face. "I love you Rush Finlay. You are going to be the best husband and father the world has ever known. One day our son's wife will be thankful that her husband will have had you for a role model. She'll be lucky because of you. Because you will have raised our son to be the man that you are. He'll love her completely because he'll know how." She choked on a sob and pressed her lips to mine again and I cradled her in my arms as I enjoyed having her so determined to reassure me that I was a good man. Nothing in life was as precious as this women. It never would be. I'd found my happiness.

Forever Too Far is the third installment of Blaire and Rush's story. It was a sweet read with tonnes of swoon worthy moments. Both characters did some growing up and Rush demonstrated a very sensitive and romantic side to himself. A beautiful ending to a beautiful story.

My rating: 5 out of 5

My Tease for this week comes from:

Never Too Far

(Too Far #2)

by
Abbi Glines

Warning: This book is recommended for 18+ readers due to its adult content.

First - The Blurb:

He had held a secret that destroyed her world.

Everything she had known was no longer true.

Blaire couldn’t stop loving him but she knew she could never forgive him.
Now, she was back home and learning to live again. Moving on with life… until something happened to send her world spinning once again.
What do you do when the one person you can never trust again is the one that you need to trust so desperately?

You lie, hide, avoid, and pray that your sins never find you out.

Second - The Tease:

"You don't have to do this," I forced myself to say staring down at him. He hadn't spoken to his sister or his mother in weeks. As much as I disliked them... no hated them, I didn't want to be what came between him and his family.

Rush shook his head. "I don't have to do anything. But I want to spend the rest of my life with you. No one but you."

And later in the same scene:

"Don't say another word. I swear, Blaire, I am seconds away from throwing your ass in that ocean," he stood up and his steady gaze held mine. "No man has ever loved a women as much as I love you. Nothing will ever come before you. I don't know what else I have to do to prove to you but I won't let you down again. I won't hurt you. You don't have to be alone anymore. I need you."

This was one sweet scene.

Never Too Far is a direct follow on from Fallen Too Far. However, instead of being told just from Blaire's POV, we get to see Rush's side as well in this book. It's always nice to get inside the guys head and see what he is really thinking.

My rating: 5 out of 5

TBR Tuesday #30 ~ Chasing McCree by J.C. Isabella

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'TBR Tuesday'. And look at the lovely personalized banner she created for me.

Thanks Sharrice. It's awesome!

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Chasing McCree
(Chasing McCree #1)

by

J.C. Isabella

Briar Thompson had it all. The right clothes, the right friends, the right car. Being popular was all that mattered. Her parents were rich and treated like royalty throughout the community. She thought her senior year of high school was going perfectly, until the night her drink was spiked at a party by one of her so called friends.

That was the night she met Chase McCree.

Chase wanted to go back to Montana. To the ranch and the wild, wide blue sky that went on forever. He wanted nothing to do with flashy cars or spoiled rich kids. But he found himself head over boots for the quirky cheerleader who turned her back on her social status. She befriended him when no one else would.

Shunned and hurt by the people who were once her friends, Briar flees with Chase to his family ranch in Montana. There she discovers another world, and apart of herself she never knew.

The cowboy wasn’t like anyone she’d ever met. The cheerleader wasn’t like anyone he’d ever met. Apart their lives didn’t seem to make sense, but together, they were chasing forever.

I saw a review of this book on another blog and felt that I just had to add it to my shelf. It's in the line up on my TBR list.

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
On your blog (and be sure to leave a link) tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.

Jumble Your Genres Reading Challenge 2014: January: Young Adult - Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins

This year Readers Live A Thousand Lives, Corrie The Book Crazed Girl, and Lovin' Los Libros have teamed up to host the Jumble Your Genres Reading Challenge! For this challenge, the goal is to mix up the genres/categories we read. We have all had those times when we have gotten stuck in the genre/category we are currently reading and read nothing else for a while. The goal here is to mix that up! Each month a different genre/category will be featured and the goal is to read and review one book or more in that genre/category during that month.

For January the genre / category is ~ Young Adult

It was my plan to read Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
But as we all know, things don't always go to plan.

So, my Choice:

Sweet Peril
(The Sweet Trilogy #2)

by
Wendy Higgins

Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

My Thoughts:

I read Sweet Evil last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. So naturally, I had to read Sweet Peril.
Did I enjoy it as much as the first? Most definitely.

Sweet Peril continues several months on from where Sweet Evil left off. Anna has changed somewhat. She is now acting the 'bad' girl and pretending to do her father's bidding (coercing humans to indulge in alcohol and drugs). She's in training, learning how to defend herself and can now wield a knife. Unfortunately though, Anna's also suffering from a broken heart. Kaidan is never far from her thoughts, and even though she knows it's not allowed, she desperately craves a relationship with him. He tries to remain ever elusive. But he too is struggling with his feelings for Anna. There are some pretty intense moments between these two which I really enjoyed.

In Sweet Evil, Anna received a gift, the hilt of a sword (The Sword of Righteousness - the only known weapon  that can take out a demon spirit). Visited by the angel which left it to her, she learns of a prophecy which foretells of 'A Nephilim pure of heart' (supposedly Anna), who will use the sword to 'cast all demons from earth'. In order for her to accomplish this task, she must convince her Neph 'brothers' and 'sisters' to side with her, which she does with the help of Kopano - the son of Wrath.

Wendy has a great writing style and I love her use of the occasional unusual word. 'Discombobulated' - yeah, I had to look that one up. For those of you who don't know, it means confused. Although there are not too many swoon worthy moments, the tension when Anna and Kaidan get together is still intense. I enjoyed reading Sweet Peril and am looking forward to reading the final installment - Sweet Reckoning - due out in April 2014.

My Rating: 4 out of 5
