Stacking the Shelves #137

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s ReviewsIt is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks.

This week I added the following books to my shelf:

Love Me, Love Me Not
(Incongruent Figures #1)
by
S.M. Koz

Seventeen-year-old Hailey Brown never wanted to be popular or rich or even successful. All she ever wanted was to feel loved by someone, anyone.

Eighteen-year-old Brad Campbell doesn't know anything but popularity, wealth, and success thanks to his affluent family and unmatched talent on the football field.

When Hailey and Brad are unexpectedly thrown together, will sparks fly or will their differences and unconventional situation prove to be too much of an obstacle?

Disclaimer: For adults 17 years and older due to strong language and sexual situations.

And...

Mason
(Remington Ranch #1)
by
S.J. McCoy

Mason Remington fell in love with his little brother's best friend, Gina, when she was still in high school. It seemed they'd found their forever early in life. But somehow it all went wrong. Now--ten years later--Gina's back in town. This time he doesn't intend to let her leave.

Mason spent the years he lost with Gina building a business, breeding and training horses, and helping keep his family's ranch going. Gina threw herself into a life in New York City where she has a career as a photographer…and a fiancĂ©.

Gina needs to sell the ranch where she grew up and move her dad to New York. When she returns to Paradise Valley to finally close that chapter of her life, the last person she wants to see is the man who broke her heart all those years ago.

Mason isn't going to let the only woman he's ever loved walk out of his life forever without explaining what went wrong. He never understood why she left. Now he has one last shot to make her stay.

Inspiring Fridays #4 ~ Inspired to Write

Inspiring Fridays is a post I've created to add something a little different to my blog. It's purpose is simple. Each week, it is my intention to feature a book, a song or a movie which inspires me. If you like, you can join in or just leave a comment below. I would love to see your thoughts on whatever is currently spotlighted, or discover what inspires you.

This weeks Inspiring Friday is titled:

Inspired to Write

Right from an early age, I developed a strong passion for books. I think I owe some of this passion to my father. When I was very small, he would read to my sister and me almost every night... mostly fairy tales. Sometimes, occasionally, it would be a non-fiction book on animals. As I grew older and developed the skill of reading for myself, my love for books only increased. To this day, I still have fond memories of 'The Wishing Chair' and 'The Magic Faraway Tree' by Enid Blyton. Filled with fascinating characters and awesome places, they captured my attention and kept me intrigued.

When I entered my teenage years, I started to write stories of my own. Many of these I shared with my best friend, and a few, I handed in as English essays. Unfortunately though, with my focus very much on my studies, I never managed to develop any of them into a full blown novel.

It is only now, many years later, that I have finally managed to accomplish that aim. And the thanks for that, goes to my family (my husband, Richard, and our two children, Brandon and Melissa)Aware of my love for books and my early history of writing, it is they who encouraged and inspired me to turn my childhood dream into reality. It is because of their faith in me and their never-ending support, that the idea of the Mystery Falls trilogy was not only born, but also it made it to completion.

I owe them my eternal gratitude and they will, forever, be my inspiration to continue to write.

My Swoon for this week comes from:

Iniquity
(The Premonition #5)
by
Amy A. Bartol

First - The Blurb:

I gasp as my body curls toward Brennus like a flower to the sun, for the pleasure of it. He holds me close to him. His nose grazes the length of my neck. He breathes me in. I feel the roar and rush of my heartbeat. I’m his toy; his energy streams into me. He winds the invisible key in my back and the euphoria ratchets and coils inside of me: tick...tick...tick...

Another wicked surge of energy flows from him into me. Pain. Pleasure. Bliss. My jaw unclenches as my lips part. I make a small, breathy sound as we dance. Brennus responds with something close to a growl. “Ye’re killing me, mo chroĂ,” he murmurs. His hand moves down my back infusing me with a golden glow of power. My wings punch violently from me, tearing a hole in my day dress. They spread wide, like a red stain beyond my pale skin. I’m dancing now for the thrill of it. I follow his lead.

As the song comes to an end, Brennus kisses my throat. He whispers in my ear, “When ye get back, come find me, mo chroĂ. I’ve healed ye...now wake up and banjax whoever banished ye here...”

Second - The Swoon:

“One day, Reed,” I begin dabbing at his cheek again, “you and I will get in the car and just drive. We’ll wander from silver cities to golden coasts.” I use an alcohol swab to clean the blood from his cheek. “We’ll sleep when we’re tired. When we wake, I’ll find a way to make you laugh and I’ll live in the sound of it.” My throat gets tight because I long for that day to be now. “We’ll find somewhere you’ve never been and we’ll make it ours—fill it with memories of us. That’s what I want.” I finish with the alcohol swab. Leaning close, I gently blow on his healing wound to ease the sting. Reed takes my hand and brings it to his lips, kissing it tenderly. “And when we get that sleep, there will never be a your side or a my side of the bed—we’ll always meet in the middle. And when I hold you there, in our bed, you’ll let me rest my lips here.”

I first met Evie and Reed in Inescapable, a book I won several years ago. I didn't know too much about it but it sounded interesting so I read it almost immediately and was blown away by both the characters and the story. It was an amazing read and I couldn't wait for the next in the series - Intuition. And then the third and fourth - Indebted and Incendiary. It is one of those series that just gets better and better.

Iniquity was a long time coming, but it was well worth the wait. Told from multiple POV, it is an awesome ending to an epic tale. All my favourite characters were present along with a few not so favourite. New ones were added - these mostly bordered on evil. And the true purpose of Evie's existence was finally revealed. As you all may know, I love HEA's and this book delivered it in spades.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Waiting on Wednesday # 83 ~ It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I'm waiting on:

It Ends with Us
by
Colleen Hoover

Expected publication: August 2nd, 2016

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up. She graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, and maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant and has a total soft spot for Lily; and the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head, but Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his no dating rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan, her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

With this bold and deeply personal novel Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. Combining a captivating romance with a cast of all too human characters, “It Ends with Us” is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.

The Premonition Series
by
Amy A. Bartol

As I'm currently reading Iniquity, the final book in The Premonition Series by Amy A. Bartol, I thought I would dedicate a post to the first 4 volumes and share a few teasers.

He isn't wearing a shirt.... He shouldn't just walk around like that; it's obscene to have to look at someone so perfect. He should do the world a favor and eat a donut or two.

Reed lifts his lips from mine, and looking into my eyes, he murmurs, “I want those thousand years with you, Evie, you have no idea how much I want them. I want a thousand years, and then I want a hundred thousand more.”

“Reed, I know that you think that it's better to wait until I evolve fully, but I don't think I can wait any longer..... You are my blood now and I'm yours. We are bound to each other in every way possible but one and I.. I don't know where I'm going, I don't even know what I've become, but I know that if I am with you, then I'm free...I'm home. Let me show you what you mean to me. Let me pull you into my world, as you have pulled me into yours.” ... Evie

“I miss the outline of your body pressed to mine and the feel of your breath on my neck when you sleep. I miss the sound of your voice. I need you. I have to go soon, but I will be back for you. I promise you. Then, I will show you that there is still beauty in the world -- not a future full of despair. I promise you, I will.”

I have to kiss her again; I start with her lips. When I taste her on my tongue, I want more. I need more. Tugging on her bottom lip with mine elicits a soft groan of pleasure from her. I live in the sound of it.
When our bodies fit together, like pieces falling into place, I’m nearly undone by it and by her eyes. They narrow and her forehead leans forward to rest against mine. Through her eyes, I can almost see inside her soul. That’s where I long to be: centered near her soul, wedged between it and her heart. ~ Reed's POV

I love Reed and Evie. They are two of my favourite book characters. I can't wait to see how their story ends.

(Unraveling You #1)
by
Jessica Sorensen

Lyric Scott has always had a good life. Outgoing, spunky, and musically talented, she’s constantly surrounded by family and friends, yet she still feels there’s something missing.

Then she meets her new next-door neighbor Ayden Gregory. Mysterious, sweet, and sad, Ayden is the exact opposite of Lyric and exactly what she needs to fill the void in her life.

Ayden has been through more than most people and believes his life is always going to be rocky, so when he’s suddenly adopted by the Gregorys, he’s thrown for a turn. But even with a new, loving family, he still finds himself haunted by the memories of his old life. The only true breath of fresh air is when he’s with his best friend, Lyric Scott.

As Lyric and Ayden grow closer, the lines of their friendship start to blur. But when Ayden's past unexpectedly pushes its way into his new life, their friendship and newfound attraction will be tested.

**A novella about Ella and Micha's daughter and Lila and Ethan's son from The Secret Series. However, this series can be read on its own.**

So now it's your turn.
Leave a comment and tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
