My Swoon for this week comes from:

Crown of Midnight
(Throne of Glass #2)
by
Sarah J. Maas

Crowned by Evil.
Bound by Duty.
Divided by Love.

"A line that should never be crossed is about to be breached.
It puts this entire castle in jeopardy—and the life of your friend."

From the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul as black as pitch. Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become his Champion. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown. She hides her secret vigilantly; she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil.

Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her closest relationships suffer. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiances—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart.

Then one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena's world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie... and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for.

Second - The Swoon(s):

Swoon 1
There had never been any line between them, only his own stupid fear and pride. Because from the moment he'd pulled her out of that mine in Endovier and she had set those eyes upon him, still fierce despite a year in hell, he'd been walking toward this, walking to her. So Chaol brushed away her tears, lifted her chin, and kissed her.
...Chaol

Swoon 2
The kiss obliterated her.
It was like coming home or being born or suddenly finding an entire half of herself that had been missing.
His lips were hot and soft against hers - still tentative, and after a moment, he pulled back far enough to look into her eyes. She trembled with the need to touch him everywhere at once, to feel him touching her everywhere at once. He would give up everything to go with her.
She twined her arms around his neck, her mouth meeting his in a second kiss that knocked the world out from under her.
...Celaena

Swoon 3
"What does that mean?" he demanded.
She smiled sadly. "You'll figure it out. And when you do..." She shook her head, knowing she shouldn't say it, but doing it anyway. "When you do, I want you to remember that it wouldn't have made any difference to me. It's never made any difference to me when it came to you. I’d still pick you. I’ll always pick you."

Oh wow! I am just loving this series. There are so many twists and turns, so many secrets to discover and uncover. And the romance, it takes your emotions on a roller coaster ride like no other. Sarah has spun an amazing story and I can't wait to delve into the next book... Heir of Fire.

My rating: 5 out of 5

Waiting on Wednesday # 42 ~ Unforgiven (Fallen #5) by Lauren Kate

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I’m waiting on:

Unforgiven
(Fallen #5)
by
  Lauren Kate

Expected publication: November 10th 2015 by Delacorte Press

It’s the book FALLEN fans have been waiting for: Cam’s story, the brooding, bad-boy dark angel readers love.

High school can be hell.

Cam knows what it’s like to be haunted. He’s spent more time in Hell than any angel ever should. And his freshest Hell is high school, where Lilith, the girl he can’t stop loving, is serving out a punishment for his crimes.

Cam made a bet with Lucifer: he has fifteen days to convince the only girl who really matters to him to love him again. If he succeeds, Lilith will be allowed back into the world, and they can live their lives together. But if he fails…there’s a special place in Hell just for him.

Tick-tock.

Spread your wings and cry as bad boy dark angel Cam finally reveals his anguished heart in the epic new FALLEN novel, UNFORGIVEN.

I really liked Cam in the Fallen series by Lauren Kate and am looking forward to reading his story.

So, what are you waiting for?

My Tease for this week comes from:

Throne of Glass
(Throne of Glass #1)
by
Sarah J. Maas

First - The Blurb:

Meet Celaena Sardothien.
Beautiful. Deadly.
Destined for greatness.

After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king's council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she'll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom. Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she's bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it's the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

Second - The Tease(rs):

Tease 1
With each day he felt the barriers melting. He let them melt. Because of her genuine laugh, because he caught her one afternoon sleeping with her face in the middle of a book, because he knew that she would win.

Tease 2
"Celaena," Chaol said gently. And then she heard the scraping noise as his hand came into view, sliding across the flagstones. His fingertips stopped just at the edge of the white line. "Celaena," he breathed, his voice laced with pain—and hope. This was all she had left—his outstretched hand, and the promise of hope, of something better waiting on the other side of the line.

Tease 3
"No matter what happens," she said quietly, "I want to thank you."
Chaol tilted his head to the side. "For what?"
Her eyes stung but she blamed it on the fierce wind and blinked away the dampness. "For making my freedom mean something."

There are so many great moments in this book that I just had to share a few teasers. Hope you enjoyed them.

Celaena is an awesome character. I like her strength, her self confidence, and her amazing fighting skills. I also like, that beneath her hard exterior, there lies a compassionate heart.

Prince Dorian is handsome, debonair and quite sweet. I enjoyed reading the banter between him and Celaena. It was certainly entertaining. At times though, I did feel sorry for Dorian because of the way his parents treated him. His father was plain mean, and his mother only seemed interested in marrying him off to some pretty royal girl he felt absolutely no attachment too.

Chaol (Captain of the Guard) was a bit hard to figure out at first, but once I learned a little more about him, I can definitely say that he has a personalty I like. He pretends to dislike Celaena, but in truth, he is actually intrigued by her and starts to develop feelings for her that he seems unsure of what to do with.

Both Dorian and Chaol are amazing guys, but if I had to choose a suitor for Celaena, I think I'd pick Chaol.

My Rating: 5 out of 5
