Stacking the Shelves #36

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks.

This week, from the library, I borrowed the last book in the series from the Soul Screamers

 With All My Soul
by
Rachel Vincent

And while I was there, I also borrowed:

From Ashes
by
Molly McAdams

Okay! So what did you add to your shelf this week?
I'd really like to know.

This week's question:
Book Vacay: Where is the best destination reading spot for you? (Where do you like to go to read other then your home)

One of my favorite places to read when I am not in the comfort of my own home, is my in-laws place in the country. They have an open fireplace similar to the one below and  I love to curl up in front of it to read.

Swoon Thursday # 48 My Soul To Keep

The fabulous girls over at YA Bound created this super HOT meme.

Here's how it works. From the book you're currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag#YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog!

My Swoon for this week comes from:

My Soul To Keep
(Soul Screamers #3)

by
Rachel Vincent

First - The Blurb:

Kaylee has one addiction: her very hot, very popular boyfriend, Nash. A banshee like Kaylee, Nash understands her like no one else. Nothing can come between them.Until something does.

Demon breath. No, not the toothpaste-challenged kind. The Netherworld kind. The kind that really can kill you. Somehow the super-addictive substance has made its way to the human world. But how? Kaylee and Nash have to cut off the source and protect their friends—one of whom is already hooked.

And so is someone else…

Second - The Swoon:

Nash pulled me onto his lap. "So, what's with the personal wake-up?" He swept my hair over one shoulder and suddenly I was acutely aware that he was half-naked and now very close. "Phone calls just aren't as satisfying anymore?" he whispered, trailing feather-soft kisses down my neck.

He leaned us both back, and before I even realized what had happened, I was lying on his bed, his weight pressing me into the mattress. His lips trailed down my neck again and his hand roamed over my shirt, and all I could think was that I didn't want to stop him. He'd waited long enough. I wanted to just let it happen...

Third - My Thoughts:

After a month of being grounded for entering the Netherworld and risking her life to save a friend's soul, Kaylee is finally granted her freedom. Unfortunately, it is not long before she once again finds trouble. Discovering that the latest high being sought amongst the human population she mingles with comes from a substance obtained from the Netherworld (Demon Breath referred to as Frost), Kaylee tries to to find the leak between the two worlds.

As she gets closer to solving the puzzle, she encounters a truth she was not expecting. Reading the first two books, I developed a fondness for Nash. Now seeing his darker side, I'm no longer sure how I feel about him. And as for Tod - still deciding...

Continuing on to My Soul To Steal

My rating for this series remains at 4 out of 5

Teaser Tuesday # 47 - My Soul To Save

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week's Tease comes from:

My Soul To Save
( Soul Screamers #2)

by
Rachel Vincent

First - The Blurb:

When Kaylee Cavanaugh screams, someone dies.

So when teen pop star Eden croaks onstage and Kaylee doesn’t wail, she knows something is dead wrong. She can’t cry for someone who has no soul.

The last thing Kaylee needs right now is to be skipping school, breaking her dad’s ironclad curfew and putting her too-hot-to-be-real boyfriend’s loyalty to the test. But starry-eyed teens are trading their souls: a flickering lifetime of fame and fortune in exchange for eternity in the Netherworld—a consequence they can’t possibly understand.

Kaylee can’t let that happen, even if trying to save their souls means putting her own at risk...

Second - The Tease:

My heart raced, adrenaline pulsing through me in a steady charged rhythm, leaving my limbs heavy, my body eager. My mouth opened beneath Nash's and he moaned. The sound of his need skimmed lightly over my skin like a shadow given form, warming me as it slid down my neck, over my collarbone, and between my breasts to burn deep inside me.

He pulled me onto his lap and I crossed my ankles at his back, holding us tightly together while his lips moved over my neck. I could feel what he wanted through both layers of denim separating us, and my head swam with the knowledge that he was excited by me.

Third - My Thoughts

My Soul To Save follows on six weeks later from My Soul To Take. Now living with her dad, who has returned after thirteen years of being absent, Kaylee is learning more about her species (the bean sidhe) and the dark creatures who live in the Netherworld - a place you don't want to visit unless you absolutely have to.

Of course Nash is still on the scene and is as supportive as ever to Kaylee, even if he does disagree with the choices she makes. One of those choices being to help Nash's brother - Tod - help save a friend who has bartered her soul for fame and fortune. Trying to reclaim what Addison has foolishly given away, Kaylee and Nash must enter the Netherworld and bargain with a Hellion for the return of the girls soul.

Once again, I was captivated by the story and am looking forward to moving to the next book in the series - My Soul To Keep.

My rating: 4 out of 5

From The TBR Pile # 6

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'From The TBR Pile'. If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:

From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me, it's:

Beautiful Creatures
by
Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
On your blog (and be sure to leave a link) tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
