Stacking the Shelves #110

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s ReviewsIt is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks.

Another busy week for me but I did manage to add two books to my shelf, both free from Amazon.

Let Me Be the One
(Let Me #1)
by
Lily Foster

Running away can be a good thing…

From the outside, Darcy Donovan’s life seems perfect. She’s beautiful, intelligent, popular and dating a guy who is every girl’s dream.

But nothing that seems perfect ever really is.

Darcy’s confidence is shattered after her “perfect” boyfriend becomes increasingly possessive and hostile. A year abroad is her escape—a chance to put some distance between them and also a chance to leave behind the shaken, insecure girl she has become.

Tom Farrell has been waiting in the wings, watching as his friend screws up a relationship with the one girl Tom considers out of his reach.

An entire year passes with Tom making changes in his life; changes he hopes will make Darcy see that he’s the one worthy of her heart—that he should be the one.

Let Me Be the One is the first book in the Let Me series intended for readers 18 and older due to mature content.

My Swoon for this week comes from:

Maybe Not
(Maybe #1.5)
by
Colleen Hoover

First - The Blurb:

When Warren has the opportunity to live with a female roommate, he instantly agrees. It could be an exciting change.

Or maybe not.

Especially when that roommate is the cold and seemingly calculating Bridgette. Tensions run high and tempers flare as the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together. But Warren has a theory about Bridgette: anyone who can hate with that much passion should also have the capability to love with that much passion. And he wants to be the one to test this theory.

Will Bridgette find it in herself to warm her heart to Warren and finally learn to love?

Maybe.

Maybe not.

Second - The Swoon:

Swoon 1
"The only difference between falling in love and being in love is that your heart already knows how you feel, but your mind is too stubborn to admit it."

Swoon 2
"I don't want you to change, Bridgette. I'm not in love with who you could be, or who you used to be, or who the world says you should be. I'm in love with you. Right now. Just like this."

Swoon 3
I press my lips to hers with such delicacy; I want her to feel everything she’s ever deserved to feel at the hands of someone else. She deserves to feel beautiful. She deserves to feel important. She deserves to feel cared for. She deserves to feel respected. She deserves to feel like there’s at least one other person in this world who accepts her for exactly who she is. She deserves to know how I feel, because I feel all of those things. And maybe a little more.

I first met Warren and Bridgette in Maybe Someday (one of my top five favorite reads). Warren was a great secondary character and he shared quite a few fun moments with Ridge and Sydney. However, Bridgette didn't stand out, at least not to me.

Getting to read the story of how Warren and Bridgette (as a couple) came to be was interesting and definitely gave me a broader insight to these two characters. Warren may be a little intense at times, but he has a deeply compassionate side. Especially when it comes to Bridgette. Sure, there is a lot of angst between them initially, but it doesn't last.

Bridgette has no experience with love and has a difficult time letting anyone behind the walls she has built around herself. Warren is persistent though, and over time, he shows her that not everyone is out to hurt her. Maybe Not is a touching read and one I would recommend as a follow up to Maybe Someday.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Waiting on Wednesday # 47 ~ Something Beautiful (Beautiful #3) by Jamie McGuire

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I’m waiting on:

Something Beautiful
(Beautiful #3)
by
Jamie McGuire

Expected publication: August 16th 2015 by Jamie McGuire, LLC

America Mason, a sassy undergrad at Eastern State University, is in love with a Maddox--Shepley Maddox. Unlike his cousins, Shepley is more lover than fighter, but a road trip to her parents' home in Wichita, Kansas could mean the next step, or the end of everything.

Add to Goodreads

I first met America in Beautiful Disaster and instantly liked her. She's a good friend to Abby. I'm so glad she's getting to tell her story.

So, what are you waiting for?

Depths
(Silver Strand #2)
by
Steph Campbell & Liz Reinhardt

First - The Blurb:

Do you believe in love at first phone call?

Cohen Rodriquez, Deo’s hilarious, über responsible best friend in LENGTHS got dumped by his longtime girl because he’s ‘not impulsive enough,’ and he's burned up.

But maybe, just maybe, she’s more right than he wants to admit. So he starts to date.
A lot.
But no one really feels like the one. And the more girls he dates, the more Cohen’s convinced she isn’t really out there.

Luckily he has Maren—the girl with the sexy voice who always cracks the best jokes. They’ve been talking daily for a year…on the phone. What started as all work soon blooms into friendship. Then she asks him.

Do you want to meet?

He's scared out of his mind to ruin the one easy, fun relationship he has going for him. But he takes the plunge, and things are just fine, totally easy and comfortable.

Except that they both sense it's not strictly platonic...there is an undeniable attraction and absolute raw chemistry between them…and every time they're in the same room, that attraction gets deeper and harder to ignore.

Maren could be the best thing that’s ever happened to Cohen… Or she could send his carefully compartmentalized life into a tailspin.

Cohen has to decide if he’s ready to let go of his comfortable fantasy and embrace the one girl who might be able to change his luck in love.

Second - The Tease:

"Tell me to stop," he begs.
I shake my head.
"Please." His face is close to mine, his voice thick in my ears.
I shake again and push my palms up to the thin fabric of his t-shirt, grabbing desperate handfuls. "I can't. I want it. I want you."

I could stop here.
But I won't.
Here's the rest of the tease...

That's all he needs to hear.
Cohen's mouth finds mine and devours it. His lips are strong and entirely in control. He kisses the way he is, like he's sure he's going to give me what I want, and so he does. I part my lips and his tongue flicks in, licking at the top and bottom lip before it fills my mouth.

I'm enjoying this series. It's an easy read without too much angst. And although the stories are linked, each book can be read alone.

My Rating: 4 out of 5

TBR Tuesday # 109 ~ Last To Know (Willow Creek #1) by Micalea Smeltzer

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'TBR Tuesday'

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Last To Know
(Willow Creek #1)
by
Micalea Smeltzer

He was just a boy.
And I was just a girl.
But if that’s all there was to the story it wouldn’t be very interesting, would it?

Up and coming band Willow Creek is back in their hometown for the summer. For the drummer, Maddox Wade, this summer was meant for writing music and playing gigs.

Falling in love was not part of the plan.

One look at Emma Burke and those plans cease to matter.

Emma is quiet and guarded. She’s still hurt from her father walking out two years ago. She doesn’t want to trust Maddox, but with his dark hair, smoldering good looks, and infectious smile he’s impossible to resist.

Together Maddox and Emma embark on an unforgettable summer of adventures and first love.
Everything is perfect…or so Emma thinks.

There are things she doesn’t know, and when she finds out the truth it might shatter everything she’s built with Maddox.

No one said love was easy, and for Maddox and Emma it just might be impossible.

This is a Young Adult book. The following books in the series will be New Adult.

*This book is a standalone within a series

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
