Feature and Follow #1

Feature and Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain followers in the book blogging community.

Q: What blogger inspires you? It can be any kind, it doesn't have to be a book blog.

I am relatively new to blogging and so have only visited a small number of sites compared to those of you who have been doing this for a while. So having said that, I would have to say that Naomi from Nomis Paranormal Palace is the person who inspires me the most when it comes to blogging. She has created an eye catching website and always makes interesting posts. And no, I'm not just saying that because she featured my novel in several of them, but because I honestly like what she writes and the memes she has included. If I didn't, I would not have asked her to review my book.

Naomi is extremely supportive, always positive and I consider her not only as a fellow blogger, but also as a friend.

Book Covers

Well today I thought I would talk about book covers. And naturally, I have chosen to start with mine.

When I first decided to write Mystery Falls, designing a book cover was the furthest thing from my mind. It was only when the novel was complete and had gone through numerous drafting and re- drafting, editing and re-editing processes, when it occurred to me that my book would require a cover.

Thinking of the title and a particular scene in the book, and coupling that with my love of waterfalls and my favorite color blue, the cover slowly began to take shape, until eventually, it became what you see now.

I have received many complimentary comments regarding the design. Many wonder - 'why the feather?'. Well in order to solve that mystery, you will need to the read Mystery Falls.

But... enough of my book.

Below, I have included two of my favorite book covers. And not surprisingly, they are both from an author I admire and respect - Becca Fitzpatrick.  I can't say exactly why they appeal to me, just that they do. Whenever I read these books, I find  myself repeatedly referring back to the cover. There is something about them that intrigues me.
