Book Covers

Well today I thought I would talk about book covers. And naturally, I have chosen to start with mine.

When I first decided to write Mystery Falls, designing a book cover was the furthest thing from my mind. It was only when the novel was complete and had gone through numerous drafting and re- drafting, editing and re-editing processes, when it occurred to me that my book would require a cover.

Thinking of the title and a particular scene in the book, and coupling that with my love of waterfalls and my favorite color blue, the cover slowly began to take shape, until eventually, it became what you see now.

I have received many complimentary comments regarding the design. Many wonder - 'why the feather?'. Well in order to solve that mystery, you will need to the read Mystery Falls.

But... enough of my book.

Below, I have included two of my favorite book covers. And not surprisingly, they are both from an author I admire and respect - Becca Fitzpatrick.  I can't say exactly why they appeal to me, just that they do. Whenever I read these books, I find  myself repeatedly referring back to the cover. There is something about them that intrigues me.

  1. Love your cover for Mystery Falls. I agree Becca Fitzpatrick has beautiful covers. Sorry have not emialed you back. Honestly I was crazy busy last week and did not even get a chance to post that much or check my Wickedly Delicious emails. I will try today. Have some catching up to bo to our bathroom. I just do not want you to think I was ignoring you.
