Here's how it works. From the book you're currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

My Swoon for this week comes from:

Derailed
(Clayton Falls #1)
by
Alyssa Rose Ivy

First - The Blurb:

When you're lost, sometimes the only place you can go is home.

Broken over the death of her fiancé, Molly leaves law school to return to her childhood home in North Carolina. Expecting to lay low until she can figure out what else to do with her life, she finds herself in the arms of her high school sweetheart, the boy who represents everything from the past she tried to leave behind.

Looking for an escape, she instead finds a way back to the girl she almost forgot existed and a future she never dreamed possible.

Second - The Swoon:

"I don't want you to feel guilty!" he yelled.

"Then what do you want?"

He tugged at his hair. "Why the hell not?" I heard him mutter before he pulled me toward him, wrapping his arms around me tightly until I was flush against him. With a hand under my chin, he made me look up at him. "I want you, Molly, can't you see that?"

He didn't wait for an answer. The crush of his lips against mine made it impossible for any verbal response. My body kicked into autopilot, responding to him. He slightly loosened his hold on me, and I wrapped my arms around his neck. In the process, my towel dropped, but I was too into the kiss to do anything about it. He demanded access, and I opened up to him, allowing him to deepen the kiss.

This is the first book I've read by Alyssa, and I have to say, I loved it. The characters are believable. The story-line is credible. And the writing is smooth.

Five years earlier, Molly ran from her small hometown believing that she was responsible for her father's death. That he took his own life because of her. Five years on and far from home, she is faced with a similar scenario when her fiance jumps off a bridge to his death. Lost, broken and unable to run from the nightmares which haunt her, she returns to her childhood home hoping that she can somehow find a way back to the carefree girl she once was.

Ben...in love with Molly since they were kids, was devastated and heartbroken when Molly ran out on him five years earlier. But he never gave up on their love. Somewhere deep in his heart, he knew she would one day come back to him. All he needed, was patience.

Watching how they find their way back to each other was both heartbreaking and emotional. There were tears, lots of tears, but there was also happiness. This is a story not to be missed.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

  1. Awww! That's so sweet! I love it when someone asks, "What do you want?", because you almost know what the answer will be - at least in terms of romance-y novels :D It makes me so happy!
