Feature & Follow #49

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community. If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers. But you have to know, the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

This week's question:
How do you handle a book you don’t like? Do you DNF or do you power through?

I believe in giving all books a fair go, so once I start, I power through.
I often find that even if the beginning is a bit slow to capture my attention, the story usually picks up and then I'm glad that I persevered.
And if it dosen't? Well at least I gave it a try.

  1. Agreed! I feel so bad when I stop a book without finishing it. New follower :)

  2. My BFF will finish a book no matter what. I feel horribly guilty, but I've DNF quite a few books. And then go on to enjoy the next book in line, so my time not wasted on the book I hated was justified.

  4. I've tried to do this as well, but sometimes there are books that I just really cannot get into like I had hoped. So it gets DNF'd. I don't like doing it though and probably have only DNF'd less than 10 books.

    Here's my Follow Friday

    Have a GREAT weekend!

  5. That usually happens to me too. But if I see that the book is not picking up on the excitement, then I usually stop reading them. But it's fair to give them a try. :)

  8. I agree. I want to give the book a fair shot and it might not be an instant connection. Sometimes it pays off...others not so much, but at least I didn't let the book down LOL! Great to talk to you this week Marilyn and hope you have a great weekend!

  9. I try to do this but sometime a book just doesn't grip me. I have to read fast-paced novels to keep my interest. I am picky about what I read so only have 1 DNF so far!

  10. I used to always power through books but now will put a book down (after giving it a thorough go, of course) if I'm just not enjoying it. :( My mum powers through every book she reads even if she isn't enjoying it though. :P
