Feature & Follow #10

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community. If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers. But you have to know, the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

Here’s this week’s question:

What writing device or trick most irritates you when reading a book? For example, if an author employs an omnipotent narrator that is sometimes considered bad form.

I can't say that any writing device or trick really irritates me. If the story is captivating, then I can look past almost anything. What I will say though is, if I have a choice, I prefer to read in the First Person Narrative.

So what's your FF?

  1. Hopping through. I don't need a book to be in first person narrative, but I do prefer it.

  2. I agree. For every annoyance, there is probably an exception where I liked it in one book or other.

  3. I agree. I love the first person POV as well. I seem to relate more to the characters that way.

  4. Agreed! I think first person narrative just allows you to get a little deeper inside the mind of the protagonist, it's so much more of an emotional experience, for me anyway.
Though, you're right, if the writing, story and characters are great then I'll forgive that pesky third person POV ;)
Thanks for stopping by my FF'S for this week

  5. New Follower (following back)

I agree I can overlook a lot too if the story grabs me. It makes rating books hard sometimes.

  7. Thanks for stopping by - happy to return the follow. I generally prefer to read third-person narratives but, for some odd reason, prefer to write first-person.

  8. Hi! I agree,if I'm really into a story and its characters my rules tend to fly out the window! I also prefer first person narrative.

  11. I can get over most things as long as the story is well written, however I really do dislike it when the author overplays the love trianlge thing. It gets oold real fast lol. Anyways we nominated you for the Liebster award you can check it out here =] : http://bookssesed.blogspot.com/2012/10/liebster-award.html

  12. I must agree with you on this. I love first person narrative way more then third person. Third person just makes the author seem to god like, that they can know everything that is going on in the book all at once. LOL. Even if they are the author, I don't want to know everything, I just want to know from the main characters perspective.

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier, returning some of the love <3
