Teaser Tuesday # 174 ~ November 9 by Colleen Hoover

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

November 9
by
Colleen Hoover

First - The Blurb:

This is a love story between a guy (me) and a girl (Fallon).
I think.
Can it even be considered a love story if it doesn’t end with love?
Mysteries end when the mystery is solved.
Biographies end when the life story has been told.
Love stories should end with love, right?
Maybe I’m wrong, then. Maybe this isn’t a love story. If you ask me…I’d say this might even be considered a tragedy.
Whatever it is—however it ends—I promised I would tell it. So without further ado.

Once upon a time…I met a girl.
THE girl.

Second - The Tease:

“I’m not sure if sex is supposed to make you feel like you’ve just lost a part of yourself to the person inside you, but that’s exactly what it felt like. It felt as if the second we joined together, a tiny piece of our souls got confused and a piece of his fell into me and a piece of mine fell into him. It was by far the single most intense moment I’ve ever shared with another person.”

I have pretty much read all of Colleen's books and she never disappoints. November 9 was amazing, and from the very first page, I was caught.

Left scarred, both physically and emotionally after experiencing a horrific accident, Fallon has lost confidence in herself, her dream of becoming a famous actress, and faith in her father. Deciding that she needs a change of scenery and a fresh start, she leaves her home in LA and moves clear across the country to NY. However, on the day just before she leaves, she encounters Ben, a young man who appears out of the blue and seems determined to be her friend.

During their brief time together, a connection forms between them (NOT insta-love) and they agree, that on the same date - November 9th - each year for the next five years, they will reunite for one day, and one day only. Then, when the five years are complete, they will decide whether they should pursue a serious relationship or terminate their friendship altogether.

The way Colleen pieced this story together was very unique and never left me bored or disinterested. Also, in true Co Ho style, it was filled with intense and highly emotional scenes, some of which, tugged at my heart strings and brought tears to my eyes. And the end... I did not see that coming.

An awesome read!

My rating: 5 out of 5

  5. I've yet to read this one but have read other books by her and enjoyed them. Great blurb and the teaser is romantic. Can't say I ever felt that way, though. LOL

  6. First, I want to say that I love the different cover. The US one is white with November 9 in a blocky font. I'm sure you've seen it - so you know why I like this one. :) Second, that tease! Oh man, that tease! I think that may be the best description of the experience I've ever read. I can't wait to read this! CHoover always dazzles me with her writing and seems like Fallon and Ben's story is unique and uniquely told. I'm glad you loved it, Marilyn! Great review.
