Teaser Tuesday # 171 ~ Wait for You (Wait for You #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

First - The Blurb:

Some things are worth waiting for…

Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.

Some things are worth experiencing…

Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.

Some things should never be kept quiet…

But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?

And some things are worth fighting for…

Second - The Tease:

"Avery?"
My eyes drifted shut. "What?"
"You've never been kissed before, right?"
My pulse exploded. "No."
"Just so we're clear," he said. "This isn't a kiss."
I opened my mouth, and then his lips were on mine. A sweet sweeping of his lips across mine, breathtakingly tender and soft, and way too quick.

"You kissed me," I gasped, my fingers digging into his sweater.
"That wasn't a kiss." His lips brushed mine as he spoke. Shivers raced up and down my spine. "Remember?  If we've kissed, then that means you going home with me could potentially mean something more series."
"Oh. Okay."

I have wanted to read this series for a long time. Discovering that my local library had finally added it to their eBook shelf was a great find, and to my surprise, the first six books were all available to borrow. So yeah, I'm having a JLA read- a-thon.

Wait For You is the first book in series and introduces us to Avery and Cam.

Avery is shy and reserved, but that's not surprising considering the horrific event which occurred when she was only fourteen. Moving thousands of miles away from her home with the hope of starting a new life at college, she tries to put the past behind her. But it isn't easy. And all to soon, the past catches up with her.

Cam is the total opposite. Hot, sexy and definitely comfortable in his own skin, he quickly befriends Avery. As they spend more and more time in each others company, feelings begin to develop. However, with the past still haunting her, Avery finds it difficult to let down the wall she has created around herself and let Cam in. But he is persistent, and eventually, he finds a way to break down her defenses.

Although the story is an easy read, there were times when it became quite emotional. I'm looking forward to re-reading the story told from Cam's POV in Trust In Me (Book #1.5)

My rating: 5 out of 5
