Swoon Thursday #161 ~ A Little Combustible Chemistry (Cactus Creek 0.5) by Violet Duke

The fabulous girls over at YA Bound created this super HOT meme.

Here's how it works. From the book you're currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag#YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog!

My Swoon for this week comes from:

A Little Combustible Chemistry
(Cactus Creek 0.5)
by
Violet Duke

First - The Blurb:

Man, oh man, was he in trouble...

If the girl-next-door-had an unpredictable, feisty twin sister, this woman would be her. Though she'd doused it quickly, a sizzling, ultra-feminine awareness had flared in her eyes in that brief moment they'd met his, along with a sweet blush she'd fought with adorably, stubborn defiance. Damn, she was cute. And intriguing. With that quiet, kitten gaze of hers still mulishly refusing to look his way again, she was drawing him in, hook, line, and sinker.

Holy Hefeweizen...

It was bad enough that the faint scent of one of her dark ales was lingering on his lips in that sexier-than-sin sort of way, but candying it atop steamy eyes and a gentlemanly sweet center to boot was just plain unfair. He was cowboy-in-the-city sexy with a laughing smile and all sorts of promised temptations radiating from him. And he always smelled like chocolate. With his scorching hot gaze, he was completely lethal to everything that kept her tame.

The night Luke and Dani met, they really should have gotten each other's last names. More importantly? Each other's occupations.

See how the chocolate vs. beer throwdown between chocolatier Luke Bradford and beer brewing beauty Dani Dobson gets started in this prequel novella to LOVE, CHOCOLATE, AND BEER.

Second - The Swoon:

An unexpected sigh of pleasure seeped out of her and instantly, his fingers flexed against her hips in response. It was the only warning she got. In one sultry swoop, he strapped a steel arm around her waist to pull her flush against him before he caught her jaw with his free hand and just exploded past all her defences with one slow, soft brush of his lips against hers.

This short Novella is the prequel to Love, Chocolate and Beer, the first full novel in the Cactus Creek series.

Born and raised in Cactus Creek in the local Brewpub, Dani knows everything there is to know about making and selling beer. Luke, new to town but not new to creating chocolate, moves in next door and opens up Desert Confections.
As soon as these two meet, sparks fly, both romantically, and on the business front.

Spurred on by Valentine's Day and the romance surrounding it, Dani and Luke embark on competition which pits beer against chocolate. Which one is bigger in bringing couples together on this romantic day?

A Little Combustible Chemistry is only an introduction to Dani and Luke's story. It's not meant to be read alone and I'm looking forward to continuing on with the next book and seeing how things pan out between them. Here's hoping for a HEA.

My Rating: 4 out of 5
