Teaser Tuesday #114 ~ The Destiny of Violet & Luke (The Coincidence #3) by Jessica Sorensen

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Tease for this week comes from:

The Destiny of Violet & Luke
(The Coincidence #3)

by
Jessica Sorensen

First - The Blurb:

Luke Price's life has always been about order, control, and acting tough on the outside. For Luke, meaningless relationships are a distraction-a way to tune out the twisted memories of his childhood. He desperately wishes he could forget his past, but it haunts him no matter what he does.

Violet Hayes has had a rough life. When she was young, she was left with no family and the memory of her parents' unsolved murders. She grew up in foster homes, living with irresponsible parents, drugs, and neglect, and trying to fight the painful memories of the night her parents were taken from her. But it's hard to forget when she never got closure-and she can't stop dreaming about what happened that tragic night. To make it through life, she keeps her distance from everyone and never allows herself to feel anything.

Then Violet meets Luke. The two clash instantly, yet they can't seem to stay away from each other. Although they fight it, they both start to open up and feel things they've never felt before. They discover just how similar they are. But they also discover something else: The past always catches up with you . . .

Second - The Teaser:

A Tease from Violet's POV

"Violet," he groans, dragging his teeth across my bottom lip and gently nibbling on it. "I think... I think..." He starts to pull away.

"Don't stop." My voice sounds a little more pleading than I planned and starts to jerk me back to reality, but then he lets out this low growl and his lips literally smash into mine, so forcefully I swear to God I'm going to have a bruise.

A Tease from Luke's POV

Time slips by as the connection between us builds, along with the overwhelming emotions that are consuming me.

Controlling me. But in the end I move slowly because it's not about my control. It's all about her. Every movement, every breath, the way my heart beats fiercely inside my chest, is all because of her.

Violet owns me.

Like many of Jessica's books, The Destiny of Violet and Luke is filled with a roller-coaster of emotions. Both characters have very broken souls due to their pasts. However, as the walls they have built around themselves slowly begin to break down, they discover that life does have an upside.

Unfortunately, their story ends on a bit of a cliff hanger. I'm looking forward to reading the continuation in The Probability of Violet and Luke and then the conclusion in The Certainty of Violet and Luke.

My Rating: 5 out of 5
