Jumble Your Genres Reading Challenge 2014: February - Contemporary ~ Crash Into You by Katie McGarry

This year Readers Live A Thousand LivesCorrie The Book Crazed Girl, and Lovin' Los Libros have teamed up to host the Jumble Your Genres Reading Challenge! For this challenge, the goal is to mix up the genres/categories we read. We have all had those times when we have gotten stuck in the genre/category we are currently reading and read nothing else for a while. The goal here is to mix that up! Each month a different genre/category will be featured and the goal is to read and review one book or more in that genre/category during that month.

For February the genre / category is ~ Contemporary

My Choice:

Crash Into You
(Pushing the Limits  #3)

by
Katie McGarry

From acclaimed author Katie McGarry comes an explosive new tale of a good girl with a reckless streak, a street-smart guy with nothing to lose, and a romance forged in the fast lane

The girl with straight As, designer clothes and the perfect life-that's who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private-school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy parents and overbearing brothers...and she's just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker-a guy she has no business even talking to. But when the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can't get him out of her mind.

Isaiah has secrets, too. About where he lives, and how he really feels about Rachel. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks-no matter how angelic she might look.

But when their shared love of street racing puts both their lives in jeopardy, they have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they'll go to save each other.

My Thoughts:

OMG I loved this book. Rachel and Isaiah are two very messed up kids and my heart went out to both of them as their story slowly unfolded.

Lets start with Rachel, brought into the world to replace her sister who dies of Leukemia, she struggles with trying to please her family. Not an easy task when they all expect her to be something she's not. Spending most of her time stressed out from worry, she hides an illness which could see her in the hospital if it gets out of control. I really felt for Rachel. The only thing which seems to keep her sane is her love for cars. There's nothing she doesn't know about a Mustang.

Isaiah. On the outside he appears as a  punk - bad-ass tattoos, multiple ear piercings and a tough persona. On the inside, he is a young man trying to cope with the crappy life he has been dealt. He has a sensitive side and high moral values which ultimately help keep him afloat.

When these two meet on the street race circuit, they see in each other, not the flaws and imperfections, but the strengths and beauty. Sharing a love for cars and racing, they form a bond which becomes unbreakable.

I think Katie did an excellent job in writing this book. She had me completely enthralled from the very first page to the very last. If you haven't read Crash Into You, then I highly recommend it. It will leave you wanting more.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

  1. YAY! I'm so glad you liked this one Marilyn! I also really loved Isaiah and Rachel's story! I hated the expectations that were placed on Rachel and how her family treated her- the ending of the book nearly killed me and I hope we get to see more Rachel in West's book next! Great review!

  2. Awesome review, Marilyn. I'm looking forward to Isaiah's story, as I fell for him in Pushing the Limits. And I'm interested in meeting Rachel. Any girl who can win over Isaiah must be something. ;) I'm glad you loved Crash Into You!
