Elijah Cade never wanted anything more than a hot meal, a side of hot arse and a soft place to lay his head at night where he could forget about his past.
But you know what they say about wanting: you always want what you can’t have.
Nineteen year-old virgin Ana is about to discover that’s not quite true because a six foot three, hotter than hell, tattooed, Aussie sex god just rode into town. He’s had a taste of her pie and he wants more– no really, Ana bakes pies for a living, get your mind out of the gutter.
She’d be willing to hand over everything tied up in a big red bow, there’s just one problem; Elijah has secrets dirtier than last week’s underwear. Secrets that won't just break Ana’s heart, but put her life at risk, too. When those secrets come to light, their relationship is pushed to breaking point.
Add to that a psychotic nympho best friend, an overbearing father, a cuter than humanly possible kid brother, a wanton womanizing cousin, the ex from hell, and more pies than you could poke a ... err ... stick ... at.
And you thought small towns were boring.
Second - The Swoon:
"You planning on getting me drunk so you can take advantage of me Cade?"
"Ana." He leans in close, sending a bolt of desire through me as his warm breath skates across my neck. "When I do finally get you naked beneath me - and trust me, it's not a question of if, but when - I'm going to make sure you haven't so much as looked at a drink. I want you to remember everything I do with my hands and my lips and my tongue."
My breath leaves me in a rush. I clutch the edge of the pool table behind me so tightly I can feel I'm losing circulation in my fingers. I'm having a hard time believing he's just whispered something so intimate in the middle of a packed bar and an even harder time believing I could be turned on by it.
Third - My Thoughts:
Before
I reveal my thoughts, I would just like to thank Carmen for giving me the
opportunity to read and review her novel ~ Welcome
to Sugartown. It was an amazing ride, whoops… read.
Set
in a small town located ‘on the highway
in the middle of nowhere’ in rural Australia, the story begins by
introducing us to Ana Belle. She’s nineteen, reasonably fresh out of high
school, and stuck running her families pie shop. Her mum died of cancer and her
dad is busy running the second family business - Big Bob’s Bikes and Auto - directly
across the street.
When
Elijah Cade rolls up on his ‘black beat
up bike’ in front of her dad’s garage looking for a job as a mechanic, both
Ana and her BFF Holly are immediately mesmerized. Decked out head to toe in
black leather, sporting a faux-hawk, and covered in tattoos, he is the epitome
of STEAMY HOT!! Unable to tear their gaze away, the girls can do nothing but
drool over his sexiness.
Finding
his way into the pie shop moments after his arrival, it doesn’t take Elijah
long before he sets his sights on Ana. After some playful banter between the
two of them, they strike up a friendship which quickly develops into more, a
whole lot more.
But
everyone has a past, and when Elijah’s catches up to him, it tears the two of
them apart in ways that neither one of them anticipated. Question is… can they
find their way back to each other, or are there something’s which are just too
hard to forgive and forget?
Welcome to Sugartown is told from
both Ana and Elijah’s POV. I liked this because it meant I could get into both
their heads and see what they were thinking. For the most part, the story is
light and numerous. However, there are a few dark and violent moments.
Carmen
has a great way of describing emotions and scenes, making it easy for the
reader to ‘feel’ the characters and connect with them. If you like NA contemporary romance, don't mind a whole lot of swearing, and love a ton of very steamy sex, then this might be
the read for you. For me… can't wait
for Book #2
My Rating: 5 out of 5
Welcome to Sugartown is due for release November 3rd, 2013
