Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week's Tease comes from
Faking It
by
Cora Carmack
First - The Blurb:
Mackenzie “Max” Miller has a problem. Her parents have arrived in town for a surprise visit, and if they see her dyed hair, tattoos, and piercings, they just might disown her. Even worse, they’re expecting to meet a nice, wholesome boyfriend, not a guy named Mace who has a neck tattoo and plays in a band. All her lies are about to come crashing down around her, but then she meets Cade.
Cade moved to Philadelphia to act and to leave his problems behind in Texas. So far though, he’s kept the problems and had very little opportunity to take the stage. When Max approaches him in a coffee shop with a crazy request to pretend to be her boyfriend, he agrees to play the part. But when Cade plays the role a little too well, they’re forced to keep the ruse going. And the more they fake the relationship, the more real it begins to feel.
Second - The Tease:
I crushed my mouth to hers.
She gasped, and I slipped my tongue past her lips. She stayed there for a few seconds, her hands still at her sides, then I felt the tentative touch of her hand against my hip, and that was all the permission I needed to continue.
Ahhh! You know me. I can never stop at just a couple of sentences.
I threaded a hand through her hair and wrapped the other around her waist. I walked her backward until she hit the wall. Her other hand came to my waist, and her fingers pressed deeper into my skin. Her lips were soft and full underneath mine, and I eased up enough to taste them. I tried to kiss her softly. I did, but there was something about her that made me desperate and I kissed her harder.
Third - My Thoughts:
I liked Cade so much in Losing It that I just had to read Faking It to be sure he ended up with a Happy Ever After.
Max! (Mackenzie) is one wild mixed up crazy girl, and just what Cade needs to get over his loss. Although they seem like an mismatched pair, the chemistry between them is amazing. I really liked the way these two interacted. Like with Losing It, it was easy to get into the story and become captivated by their world.
Cora did another amazing job. I can't wait for Finding It.
My rating: 5 out of 5
