Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This weeks tease comes from City of Bones (Book 1 of The Mortal Instruments) by Cassandra Clare.
Yeah, I know I'm a little slow getting into this series, but with the movie due out later this year, I thought it was about time I took the plunge.
First - The Blurb:
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .
Second - My Thoughts:
I'd heard so many good things about this series, that I have to admit, I was almost afraid to start reading City of Bones for fear that it might not live up to my expectations. Now, after having completed Book One, I'm so glad that I can cast those fears aside. It was amazing!! One of the best series I've gotten into so far.
Cassandra Clare has a great writing style. Her description of characters, places, events, etc... are clear and make it easy to follow exactly what's going on. I found it almost impossible to put the book down. (I'm so glad I have the remaining four sitting on my shelf in readiness). Yeah! I know there is a Book Six. Sucks to wait for it's release.
There is a - "Wow! Didn't see that coming." - kind of moment towards the end, but for those of you who haven't read it yet, I'm not going to divulge what that is.
My Rating - 5 out of 5

Third - My Tease:
Clary: "Is this when you start tearing strips off your T-shirt to bind up my wound?" she joked.
Jace: "If you wanted me to rip my clothes off, you should have just asked."
Wow! Can you believe it, I actually managed to keep it to two sentences this week. Not sure when that last happened.
