Swoon Thursday # 27 - City of Fallen Angels

The fabulous girls over at YA Bound created this super HOT meme. Here's how it works.

From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag #YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog!

* ~ * ~ * ~ *

Those of you who have been following my blog for the past week, will know that I am currently reading The Mortal Instruments. So having said that, I'm sure it's not too hard to guess from where this weeks swoon has originated.
Yes - Book 4

City of Fallen Angels

First - The Blurb:

The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She's training to become a Shadowhunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last. And - most importantly of all - she can finally call Jace her boyfriend.

But nothing comes without a price.

Someone is murdering Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine's Circle, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second bloody war. Clary's best friend, Simon, can't help her. His mother just found out that he's a vampire and now he's homeless. Everywhere he turns, someone wants him on their side - along with the power of the curse that's wrecking his life. And they're willing to do anything to get what they want. At the same time he's dating two beautiful, dangerous girls - neither of whom knows about the other one.

When Jace begins to pull away from Clary without explaining why, she is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: She herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.

Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. The stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

Second - My Thoughts:

I need to be honest here and say that I have not finished the book yet. I'm only halfway through, therefore, my current view is based on only what I have read so far.

Unfortuntaley, at this stage, I am not connecting with this book as well as I did with the first three. I had hoped that once Clary and Jace discovered that they were NOT related, the romance would kick up a notch or two.

Yeah, there have been a few passionate kisses, but there seems to be something going on with Jace which is preventing the two of them from being together the way in which I had hoped.

As I am one not to give up on a series once I have commited, I will keep reading and hope that Jace resolves whatever is going on with him.

My Rating - To be determined.

Third - My Swoon:

"Jace," she said, a little bewildered by the bitterness in his voice, "are you all right?"

Instead of answering he kissed her, pulling her hard against him. His body pressed hers against the wall, the metal of the mirror cold against her back, his hands sliding around her waist, up under her sweater. She always loved the way he held her. Careful, but not too gentle, not so gentle that she ever felt he was more in control than she was. Neither of them could control how they felt about each other, and she liked that, liked the way his heart hammered against hers, liked the way he murmured against her mouth when she kissed him back.

The elevator came to a rattling stop, and the gate opened. Beyond it, she could see the empty nave of the cathedral, light shimmering in a line of candelabras down the center aisle. She clung to Jace, glad there was very little light in the elevator so she couldn't see her own burning face in the mirror.

"Maybe I can stay,' she whispered. "Just a little while longer."

  2. Ahhh, I remember this one! I actually didn't like this partciluar book in the series at all, but I thought that this book was a little more steamy than the other three. But this one was so bad I didn't read Lost Souls yet, so I can't comment on the steaminess of that one! But apparently that one wasn't so great either? Hmm...

Thank you for visiting my blog!

  9. Don't worry, the book will pick up, and some cool revelations come to light near the end, and sets it up really good for the next, which is amazing by the way. Don't give up. I guess I don't need as much romance in books, as I was rooting for them, but there was so much else going on. This was more of a book for Simon Cassandra had stated awhile back. Anyway, it still needs to be read for the next.

I hope you end up liking it more, and know you will like the next. I myself can't wait for Heavenly Fire.
