Stacking the Shelves #96 & Weekly Wrap-Up

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s ReviewsIt is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks.

This week, I added the following books to my shelf.

Wanted by You
(Love in the City #1)
by Steph Nuss

Carter was captivated by Ellyson Evans the moment he laid eyes on her, but she was the one girl who didn't beg for his attention.

He wanted her.

Ellyson vowed to never fall in love, because love can destroy you, but then she met Carter Jennings.

She wanted him.

Unwilling to risk their comfortable friendship, neither confessed their desires.

Losing touch after college, a chance meeting reconnects them.

They want each other.

But love in the city is never quite that easy.

Last To Know
(Willow Creek #1)
by
Micalea Smeltzer

He was just a boy.
And I was just a girl.
But if that’s all there was to the story it wouldn’t be very interesting, would it?

Up and coming band Willow Creek is back in their hometown for the summer. For the drummer, Maddox Wade, this summer was meant for writing music and playing gigs.

Falling in love was not part of the plan.

One look at Emma Burke and those plans cease to matter.

Emma is quiet and guarded. She’s still hurt from her father walking out two years ago. She doesn’t want to trust Maddox, but with his dark hair, smoldering good looks, and infectious smile he’s impossible to resist.

Together Maddox and Emma embark on an unforgettable summer of adventures and first love.
Everything is perfect…or so Emma thinks.

There are things she doesn’t know, and when she finds out the truth it might shatter everything she’s built with Maddox.

No one said love was easy, and for Maddox and Emma it just might be impossible.

This is a Young Adult book. The following books in the series will be New Adult.

*This book is a standalone within a series.

I saw both of these books featured on blogs last week and couldn't stop myself from one-clicking them.
The second is a standalone, and since I have so many series to finish, that kind of appealed to me.

Weekly Wrap-Up

Last week I had several days without the Internet. I hate when that happens but at least I got some reading done. I spent the last few days catching up on my posts and preparing ahead - two weeks - that's good for me. Hope you are all having a good weekend!

My Swoon for this week comes from:

Right Kind of Wrong
(Finding Fate #3)
by
Chelsea Fine

First - The Blurb:

Sometimes wrong can feel oh so right . . .

Jenna Lacombe needs complete control, whether it’s in the streets . . . or between the sheets. So when she sets out on a solo road trip to visit her family in New Orleans, she’s beyond annoyed that the infuriatingly sexy Jack Oliver wants to hitch a ride with her. Ever since they shared a wild night together last year, he’s been trying to strip away her defenses one by one. He claims he’s just coming along to keep her safe-but what’s not safe for her is prolonged exposure to the tattooed hottie.

Jack can’t get Jenna out from under his skin. She makes him feel alive again after his old life nearly destroyed him-and losing her is not an option. Now Jack’s troubles are catching up to him, and he’s forced to return to his hometown in Louisiana. But when his secrets put them both in harm’s way, Jenna will have to figure out how far she’s willing to let love in . . . and how much she already has.

Second - The Swoon:

I want to drown in the unknown. Flail in unruly winds.
I want to surrender to the storm until I'm a piece of it. A willing tempest.
I want...
I want...
I want to just... let... go.

I lift up on my tiptoes and press my lips to his. Pulling back, Jack looks down at me with desire in his eyes and then takes my mouth in his. It's rough and sudden and I claw at his back for more as he yanks me against him and holds my tongue hostage. Our kiss is savage and hungry, and I moan and whimper because he tastes so good and being away from him for even a few hours was too long.

I want him, I realize. I want him and he's taking me.
... Jenna

The Right kind of Wrong is the third book in the Finding Fate series and  picks up from where Best kind of Broken leaves off. Only now, we are following the story of Jenna and Jack.
( I haven't managed to get Perfect kind of Trouble yet but it doesn't really seem to matter if you read this series out of order)

Jenna is a tough girl who likes to be in control of pretty much everything in her life. She has her future all mapped out, and in it, there is no room for a permanent relationship with a man.

After spending one hot steamy night with Jenna, Jack can't get her out of his mind. He wants her to be a permanent fixture in his life, but making that happen, proves to be more challenging than he expected.

Watching their story unfold as Jack tries to convince Jenna that being with him doesn't mean she has to give up her life plan, was  a great read and one I'm sure most will enjoy.

Pixie and Levi remain my favorite couple in this series but Jenna and Jack come a close second.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Waiting on Wednesday #31 ~ Every Last Breath (The Dark Elements #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I’m waiting on:

Every Last Breath
(The Dark Elements #3)
by
Jennifer L. Armentrout

Expected publication: July 28th, 2015 by Harlequin Teen

Some loves will last ’til your dying breath

Every choice has consequences—but seventeen-year-old Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers. Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust.

Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction.

Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…

Teaser Tuesday # 138 ~ Best Kind of Broken (Finding Fate #1) by Chelsea Fine

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Tease for this week comes from:

Best Kind of Broken
(Finding Fate #1)
by
Chelsea Fine

First - The Blurb:

Pixie Marshall wishes every day she could turn back time and fix the past. But she can't. And the damage is done. She's hoping that a summer of free room and board working with her aunt at the Willow Inn will help her forget. Except there's a problem: the resident handyman is none other than Levi Andrews. The handsome quarterback was once her friend-and maybe more-until everything changed in a life-shattering instant. She was hoping to avoid him, possibly forever. Now he's right down the hall and stirring up feelings Pixie thought she'd long buried . . .

Levi can't believe he's living with the one person who holds all his painful memories. More than anything he wants to make things right, but a simple "sorry" won't suffice-not when the tragedy that scarred them was his fault. Levi knows Pixie's better off without him, but every part of him screams to touch her, protect her, wrap her in his arms, and kiss away the pain. Yet even though she's so close, Pixie's heart seems more unreachable than ever. Seeing those stunning green eyes again has made one thing perfectly clear-he can't live without her.

Second - The Tease:

For long seconds we stand there, staring at each other as water beats down on me. And then his eyes fall to my mouth.

Oh crap.

My eyes fall to his mouth as well, and the atmosphere ignites. Now we're in this steamy, tense standoff - half in, half out of the shower - heads tilted toward each other and eyes locked on mouths. And I've already surrendered.
... Pixie

Yeah, I know what you're thinking... are they naked? Guess you'll need to read the book to find out. (Yeah, I know that's cruel, but I don't want to give away any spoilers)

After seeing Best Kind of Broken featured on several blogs, I just had to get a copy for myself. And I'm so glad that I did. Although heartbreaking at times, it was an awesome read, one which will keep you glued to the pages from beginning to end.

Pixie and Levi have known each other since early childhood, but one night when a terrible accident happens, their world is shattered and they are torn apart. Finding themselves coming face to face with each other a year later, they try to keep the past buried by hiding behind teasing remarks, witty banter and childish pranks.

However, the past doesn't wish to remain buried, and eventually, the true feelings they hold for each other rise to the surface.

This is the first book I've read written by Ms. Fine. I like her easy writing style and will definitely be adding more of her books to my shelf.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Come Home To Me
(Second Chances #1)
by
Peggy L. Henderson

Jake Owens is tired of life on his parents’ Montana ranch, catering to city folk who want a taste of old-fashioned country living. He enjoys life in the fast lane, with fast cars and even faster women. When he falls in with the wrong crowd and is accused of murder, a stranger’s bizarre offer at a second chance might be his only hope to clear his name.

Rachel Parker is highly devoted to her family. A tragedy prompts a daring move to the Oregon Territory for a fresh start in a new land. After meeting the wagon train’s scout, the meaning of a fresh start may be more than she ever imagined.

Jake can’t believe he’s been sent back in time to act as scout for a wagon train headed for Oregon, and given the added burden of keeping one emigrant woman safe during the journey. He and Rachel are confused by their attraction to each other. Jake’s ill-mannered, unconventional ways are overshadowed only by his notorious reputation. Rachel’s traditional values and quiet, responsible character are the complete opposite of what attracts Jake to a woman. When their forbidden attraction turns to love, what will happen at the end of the trail?
