Feature & Follow #60

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community. If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers. But you have to know, the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

This weeks question:

Feature your own favorite blogger, have it be a surprise.

I have to be honest, I found this question way too hard because I do not have ONE favorite blogger, I have MANY.

So, as not to offend anyone or leave anyone out, I'm choosing not to name anyone specifically.
Instead, I'm going to use this opportunity to say a humongous

to all my friends and followers.
You are all truly amazing!

My Swoon for this week comes from:

The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden
(The Coincidence #1)

by
Jessica Sorensen

First - The Blurb:

Callie has grown up keeping her feelings locked away from the outside world, and as her painful past threatens to consume her life, most days it's a struggle just to breathe.

For as long as Kayden can remember, suffering in silence has been the only way to survive, until one night when Callie and Kayden's worlds collide.

After that moment, Kayden can't stop thinking about Callie and when they end up at the same college, he does everything in his power to convince her that it isn't coincidence - it's fate.

Second - The Swoon:

He leans in, shutting his eyes, and for a second I contemplate running. I keep my eyes open until the very last second, and then suck in a breath as his lips touch mine. My knees buckle as his tongue delves deep inside my mouth and I clutch on to the net to keep from falling down.

Without question or hesitation, I untangle my fingers from the holes, and slide my hands up his chest, wrapping then around his neck. His hot breath is mixed with passion and tequila and his chest crushes against mine. A gasp escapes from my lips as his searing hot palms move down my back. He thrusts his tongue deeper into my mouth and grabs at my hips, drawing me closer as the floor sways under our feet.

It's my first real kiss; one that wasn't taken away from me and held inside someone else's hand. I thought I'd be more terrified, but if anything the nerves flying through my body are driven by the thrill of his tongue inside my mouth.

Third - My Thoughts:

After reading several extremely positive reviews of this book, I felt compelled to read it myself. I wasn't disappointed. It's an amazing story of two people (both of who have suffered traumatic lives) coming together, and through a deep and overwhelming connection, begin to help heal each other.

Callie is a sad and lonely girl, who after having been severely traumatized at the age of 12, has spent most of her teenage years trying to blend into the shadows. Kayden seems alright on the outside, but on the inside, there is a lot of darkness. Although the two of them were raised in the same town and attended the same school, neither of them approaches the other until they start college.

Finally free from the surroundings which have held them captive, they find each other. As their friendship blossoms, their secrets are slowly revealed. There are a lot of strong emotions expressed throughout the story, some of which will make you smile, and some of which will make you cry.

And the ending - not quite what I was expecting, and definitely leaving me wanting more. Can't wait to read The Redemption of Callie and Kayden (Book #2)

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Teaser Tuesday #60 ~ Stealing Harper by Molly MCAdams

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)

My Tease for this week comes from:

Stealing Harper

(Taking Chances #2)

by
Molly McAdams

First - The Blurb:

Chase Grayson has never been interested in having a relationship that lasts longer than it takes for him and his date to get dressed again. But then he stumbles into a gray-eyed girl whose innocence pours off her, and everything changes. From the minute Harper opens her mouth to let him know just how much he disgusts her, he's hooked.

But a princess deserves a Prince Charming who can make her dreams come true. Not a guy who can turn her life into a nightmare.

All good intentions go out the window when Harper starts to fall for the guy Chase has come to view as a brother. He wanted to protect her by keeper her away, but he can't stand to see her with anyone else, and he'll do anything to make her his. But when it comes down to Harper choosing between the two, will Chase have the strength to step back from the girl who has become his whole world if it means she's happy?

Lines will be crossed. Friendships will be put to the test. And hearts will be shattered.

CAUTION: DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT READ TAKING CHANCES

Second - The Tease:

She threw out her her arms and let out an exasperated huff. "Was that not obvious? Is it not obvious that I'm in love with you?"

I didn't waste time crushing my mouth to hers. I'd waited so long to hear those words from her. She moaned, and her body melted into mine, her legs going weak. I grabbed behind her thighs and wrapped her legs around my waist as I pushed her against the wall in an attempt to get our bodies closer together. The kiss deepened and I begged her to say it again.

"Chase," she whispered against my lips before grabbing my face to look into my eyes, "I love you."

Third - My Thoughts:

First - Heed the warning - DO NOT read Stealing Harper prior to Taking Chances.

Yeah, I read Taking Chances a while back. Curious to see things from Chases side, I couldn't miss the opportunity of borrowing this book from the library. I should warn, both books are tear-jerkers.

Chase is your typical bad boy who wants the girl but doesn't think he deserves her. Harper is nice girl who has led a sheltered life. (She was raised by her dad on a military base).

When these two come together - sparks fly.

I found this book to be a little easier to read than the first, probably because there was no mystery. I already knew the story and how things would end.

My Rating: 4 out of 5

From the TBR Pile # 17 ~ The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'From The TBR Pile'.

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

The Eternity Cure
(Blood of Eden #2)

by
Julie Kagawa

In Allison Sekemoto's world, there is one one rule left: Blood Calls to blood.
Cast out of Eden and separated from the boy she dared to love, Allie will follow the call of blood to save her creator, Kanin, from the psychotic vampire, Sarren. But when the trail leads to Allie's birthplace in New Covington, what she finds there will the change the world forever - and possibly end human and vampire existence.

There's a new plague on the rise, a strain of the Red Lung virus that wiped out most of humanity generations ago - deadly to humans and vampires alike. The only hope for a cure lies in the secrets Kanin carries. If Allie can get to him in time...

I picked this book up for $2 at the second hand bookshop a short while back. Just need to find the time to read it now.

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
On your blog (and be sure to leave a link) tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
