Book Boyfriend for the Week #7 - Jace from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

This is a meme created by Reading and Things for bloggers to talk about there book boyfriends and tease the readers with things they've said.

Want to participate?

Then all you have to do is:

1) Pick a book boyfriend, it can be from the book your currently reading or from one you've already read.
2) Write what kind of boyfriend he is, and if you want, say why you think that.
3) Pick a quote from his book, long or short, that proves he is the kind of boyfriend you said he is.
4) Make sure the quote, and the explanation DO NOT give away anything from the book (we want all of the twists and plot surprises to remain surprises).
5) Share it! And shout it out using the #Reading and Things.

My Book Boyfriend for this week is:

Jace

Before seeing the movie (yeah, I haven't seen it yet because my childminder won't be available for another couple of weeks) I decided to re-read City of Bones and was reminded of how I like Jace's bad-ass attitude and the way he has a soft spot for Clary even though he has a tough time showing it.

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

Here's one of Clary's thoughts of Jace:

Even in half demon hunter clothes, Clary thought, he (Simon) looked like the kind of boy who'd come over to your house to pick you up for a date and be polite to your parents and nice to your pets.
Jace on the other hand, looked like the kind of boy who come's over to your house and burn's it down just for kicks.

And one of my favorite quotes:

Clary - "Is this the part where you start tearing strips off your shirt to bind my wounds?"

Jace -  "If you wanted me to rip my clothes off, you should have just asked."

Okay!

Feature & Follow #55

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community. If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers. But you have to know, the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

This weeks question:

It is up to you to do a Kickstarter campaign for your favorite book!!!
Who are you casting for the main characters?

Oooh!! I like this question.  This is so easy for me.

First, my book choice:

Mystery Falls
(Of course)

Secrets. Lies. Deception. For the past six years, Samantha Hunt has lived with the belief that the untimely death of her parents was the result of an unfortunate accident—that by the cruel hand of fate, she had been left an orphan. But it was a lie, a terrible lie told to her by those who wanted to keep her in the dark. And the truth... when revealed, will change her life and haunt her forever.

Suddenly plagued by a series of events which find her in danger and in need of a savior, Samantha is repeatedly rescued by the mysterious and elusive Shadow—a stranger who seems to know more about her past and the tragedy which befell her family, than she does. Drawn to him despite the antagonism she feels whenever in his presence, Samantha soon discovers that Shadow is not what he appears to be. Determined to learn his true identity and why he has come to Mystery Falls, the small town in which she has spent all of her seventeen years, Samantha not only uncovers the secrets he refuses to share, but also the truth about her own past. A truth which forces her to acknowledge that things are not always as they seem, and sometimes, not even those close to you can be trusted.

Resolved to seeking justice for the unwarranted death of her parents, Samantha embarks on a journey which brings her perilously close to her own demise. Can Shadow use his angel powers to save her yet again, or this time, will he be too late.

Second, my dream cast:

Lily Collins as Samantha

Ian Somerhalder as Shadow

Emma Stone as Mia (Samantha's BFF)

Jacqueline MacInnes Wood as Claire (Samantha's cousin)

And Richard Gere as Samantha's Uncle Mike / Father
(These two guys are supposed to resemble each other closely so Richard could play both parts)

My Swoon for this week comes from:

Dare You To
(Pushing the Limits #2)

by
Katie McGarry

First - The Blurb:

Ryan lowers his lips to my ear. "Dance with me, Beth."

"No." I whisper the reply. I hate him and I hate myself for wanting him to touch me again....

"I dare you..."

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's home life, they'd send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom's freedom and her own happiness. That's how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn't want her and going to a school that doesn't understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her, but does....

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can't tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him.

But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won't let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all...

Second - The Swoon:

My tank rides up farther when Ryan strokes the bare flesh of my stomach. He angles closer to me and I'm immediately overwhelmed by the size of his body. My blood tingles with excitement. "You're soft," he whispers.

I knot my fingers in his hair, guiding his head to mine. "You talk too much."

"I do," he agrees and his lips finally meet mine.

It's an innocent kiss at first. Soft lips meeting; a gentle pressure that creates a slow burn. The type of kiss you give to someone that means something. This isn't the type of kiss to be wasted on me. But still, I prolong it by taking his lower lip into mine and I touch his smooth face.

For this one second, I'll feel. I'll let myself pretend that Ryan cares for me. That I'm the girl worthy of this type of kiss.

Third - My Thoughts:

A friend asked me not to give away any spoilers on this one so I'm going to try and keep this brief and not give too much away.

For those of you who don't know, Dare You To is the next installment of Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry. In PTL we were introduced to Beth (Elisabeth) but only superficially. DYT is her story and Ryan's.

Ryan's a jock, a baseball fanatic and loves to play dare. Beth is the girl from the wrong side of the tracks. She has attitude and hides her true-self behind a facade.

Both have secrets they want to keep concealed. Unfortunately for them, secrets have a way of being discovered. As they both struggle with family issues, a bond begins to develop between them, and something which started as a dare, suddenly becomes so much more.

Katie has a great writing style and DYT does not disappoint. I found it to be a great read and I am looking forward to the release of Crash Into You.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

My Tease for this week comes from:

Hopeless

by
Colleen Hoover

First - The Blurb:

Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies.In this #1 New York Timesbestselling novel by Colleen Hoover, author of Slammed and Point of Retreat, Sky meets Dean Holder, a guy with a reputation that rivals her own. Holder has the ability to invoke feelings in Sky she's never had before. In just one encounter he leaves her terrified yet captivated and something about him brings up a rush of memories from the past that she’s worked so hard to bury away.

Sky knows Holder is nothing but trouble and tries to keep him at a distance, but he is adamant about learning everything he can about her. Sky finally caves to his unwavering pursuit, but she soon finds out that Holder isn't the person he's been claiming to be. When the secrets he's been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky's life changes forever.

Second - The Tease:

He looks at my lips and when he does, it prompts me to pull my bottom lip between my teeth. Otherwise, I might bite him.

"Let me inform you of something," he says in a low voice. "The moment my lips touch yours, it will be your first kiss. Because if you've never felt anything when someone's kissed you, then on one's ever really kissed you. Not the way I plan on kissing you."

And later in the story:

Our lips move passionately together as we struggle to pull ourselves closer, wanting to find that perfect connection with our bodies that we've just found with our mouths. He works his mouth against mine delicately, yet fiercely  and I match him movement for movement. I release several moans and even more breaths and he drinks each one of them in with his mouth.

Third - My Thoughts:

I know many of you are already familiar with this book so I will keep my thoughts brief.

I decided to read this book after reading many great reviews. It did not disappoint. I was captured right from the start. It is a very intense read but Colleen has done such a great job writing it that it is also an easy read. The words flow making it easy to relate with the characters and feel the intensity of their emotions as the mystery's of the past are revealed.

I will say that I could see what was coming about half way through the story but that didn't make me like it any less. I loved the interaction between Sky and Holder and I'm looking forward to reading Losing Hope and seeing the story through Holder's eyes.

My Rating; 5 out of 5

From The TBR Pile # 14 - Jordyn by Tiffany King

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'From The TBR Pile'.

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Jordyn
(A Daemon Hunter Novel)

by
Tiffany King

Hand to hand combat training: Check
Cardio and strength training: Check
Daemon hunting: Check
Anomaly: Check

Check, check, check, check...That's all my life is. There's nothing ordinary about me. I'm "special." I know this because I'm reminded of it every stinking day. I can kick a Daemon's ass with both hands tied behind my back. I can run up a mountain without breaking a sweat. Know what I can't do? Get guys to notice me, or hang out with friends like normal people do. I can't just be ordinary because I have an Arch Angel for a mentor who is always breathing down my neck, and a family of angelic Guides and Protectors who scrutinize every little thing I do. Just for a day I want a life where I'm no longer some anomaly, where I don't have to feel like a lab rat.

And then I met Emrys. Okay, so my mentor and family hate him, but probably for good reason. After-all, he is a Soul Trader, and they aren't the most trust worthy beings. But, he is sooo hot with his green eyes, leather jacket and the sexiest tattoo you've ever seen running down his back. And-he doesn't treat me like a project.

I've got myself in quite a little quandary here. Choosing between my responsibilities and the Trader that holds my heart is something I didn't sign up for. Torn between two different worlds, I must now decide who to trust and who to walk away from. What's a girl to do? See what I mean? I am an anomaly. I am Jordyn.

I came across this book on Amazon a short while back for free. I'm not sure when I will get round to reading it. Hopefully soon.

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
On your blog (and be sure to leave a link) tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
