Stacking the Shelves # 28

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks.

Unfortunately, I only managed to add two books to my shelf this week, one of which I have been most eager to read.

The Indigo Spell

by
Richelle Mead

I can't wait to find out what happens between Adrian and Sydney.
I sure hope it's what I think it is.

And the second book,

Defiance

by
C.J. Redwine

Okay! So what did you add to your shelf this week?
I'd really like to know.

Here’s this week’s question:

Is there a song that reminds you of a book? Or vice versa? What is the song & the book?

At first I couldn't think of an answer to this question. But then, after some consideration, I recalled a song I have listened to at least a hundred times.

A Thousand Years
sung by
Christina Perri

and the book it reminds me of

Breaking Dawn
(Book 4 in the Twilight Saga)

*

And while we are on the question of songs and books,
I'd would like to mention that as I draw to the end of writing my first draft of Mystery Rises
(Book 2 in the Mystery Falls Trilogy)
one song I have grown attached to and has featured on the top of my playlist for this book is

Echo
sung by
Jason Walker

My Swoon for this week comes from

Avenger's Angel
(The Lost Angels Series)
by
Heather Killough-Walden

The Blurb:

The first in Heather Killough-Walden's fantastic new paranormal series, the Lost Angels, features Uriel, the Angel of Vengeance. Four thousand years ago, four archangels were cast down to Earth in human form. God's favourites, they came to find their mates, the other half of their souls made only for them, without whom they will ever be complete. Uriel, Gabriel, Azrael and Michael, however, were not alone. They were followed by another, determined to find the archesses for himself, and whose power cannot be underestimated. But after centuries of fruitless searching, the archangels -- and their enemy -- have all but given up hope. Until one day beautiful and gifted Eleanore Granger crosses paths with Uriel, the Angel of Vengeance. And as a storm rages, outside forces conspire together, initiating an age old battle of good versus evil to win the first archess.

The Swoon:

He used his gentle grip on her face to hold her still before him as he closed the small gap between them and leaned in. "Stop me now," he whispered. "You won't get another chance."

Eleanore said nothing and he felt her shudder against his hard body. He could wait no longer. She shuddered once more as his lips found hers.

He wanted to be gentle; she deserved as much. But when the first butterfly-soft touch of his lips against hers sparked with electricity, it ignited something volatile inside of him. She moaned against his mouth and Uriel nearly lost control. He moved in for the kill, deepening his kiss with the ferocity of the need riding him. He felt her stiffen slightly when her tongue brushed  the tips of his very sharp fangs, but he held her fast, unwilling to let her slip away.

In the next instant, she was melting against him, giving in to his demands and moaning against his lips. He could hear her heart racing, like music for his deadly dance.

***WARNING***
This book comes with one erotic scene which is quite intense.

A great read though.
I'm looking forward to Messenger's Angel - the next book in the series.
My Rating for this one - 4 out of 5

Today's Tease comes from

Shadow's Claim
by
Kresley Cole

*** WARNING ***
THIS BOOK CONTAINS ADULT CONTENT
- VERY ADULT CONTENT

The Blurb:

#1 New York Times bestseller Kresley Cole introduces The Dacians: Realm of Blood and Mist, a new paranormal series following the royal bloodline of Dacia, a vampire kingdom hidden within the Lore of the Immortals After Dark.

Shadow’s Claim features Prince Trehan, a ruthless master assassin who will do anything to possess Bettina, his beautiful sorceress mate, even compete for her hand in a blood-sport tournament— to the death.

HE WON’T BE DENIED
Trehan Daciano, known as the Prince of Shadows, has spent his life serving his people—striking in the night, quietly executing any threat to their realm. The coldly disciplined swordsman has never desired anything for himself—until he beholds Bettina, the sheltered ward of two of the Lore’s most fearsome villains.

SHE’S BOUND TO ANOTHER
Desperate to earn her guardians’ approval after a life-shattering mistake, young Bettina has no choice but to marry whichever suitor prevails—even though she’s lost her heart to another. Yet one lethal competitor, a mysterious cloaked swordsman, invades her dreams, tempting her with forbidden pleasure.

A BATTLE FOR HER BODY AND SOUL
Even if Trehan can survive the punishing contests to claim her as his wife, the true battle for Bettina’s heart is yet to come. And unleashing a millennium’s worth of savage need will either frighten his Bride away—or stoke Bettina’s own desires to a fever pitch. . . .

The Teaser(s):

First:

She laid her hands on his chest, lids growing heavy at the feel of his mighty body. But this was just a tease; she needed to trace his skin, to explore him.

And later in the book:

He'd already traced to her, cupping her face, "I'll die if I don't kiss you right now."

Bettina gasped when his mouth met hers, her hands shooting to his chest to push him away. But his lips were so deliciously firm, and his immediate groan made her shiver.

With excitement?

How could she be excited when she still felt raw inside? Why was that empty feeling fading as he deepened his kiss?

Enjoy this, her mind whispered. Tonight's your last chance. Yes, to enjoy those smoldering looks, those strong arms around her, holding her secure against him. That connection...
